Do Warforged dream of Blue Dragons?

The setting that I would like you to first imagine is the world of Blade Runner, think of the landscapes, the architecture of villages, towns and cities and how cool your characters would look in a place like that. Now imagine it with magic and science mixed together with the majority of races that have been created in the Dungeons and Dragons universe.

I am looking for two people to explore this world with me, and play a campaign that I have had going on in my head for some time.

This will be taking place in futuristic North America, you will be beginning in the city of Calgary, Alberta, where you are returning from a five year war that took place within central Europe.

Now that your service has been complete, you both have returned heroes, and are now looking for another career path so that your skills can continue to be used.

--------------------------------

When applying, please give me two character applications, one can be anything that you want, the other needs to be a warforged. One of you will be one character and the other will be the warforged.

You will be starting this campaign as a level 4 character, since being in a war for five years, you have gained plenty of experience to justify being this high of a level.

The only races that I am not allowing in the campaign are races that have natural flying abilities, variant humans are allowed and I will allow the legacy system because I find it nice that you aren't restricted to be given certain stats when your family/ancestry might have shaped you differently

All published classes will be accepted, and will allow gunslinger class in this campaign. If you want to use a UA class, please ask so I can look it up and approve or decline.

So what I would like for the application is this:

Character Name:
Race:
Class:
Background:
Description of Characters Appearance and Picture if possible:

How the character acts, likes and dislikes:
Brief History:*

*Note that the warforged you are playing were created by the North American government specifically designed to be soldiers of war, when the war had ended, those with enough accolades were given their freedom, others were put into secret storage facilities to wait until the next threat of war.

Your choice of how you want to do stats, roll, point-buy, standard array, if you roll and you do not have at least two stats of 15 or higher, I will let you re-roll.

If accepted, I will give you more information on equipment.

I'm interested! Let me have a think on the two, although exploring the warforged/replicant viewpoint does seem like a very interesting character concept, especially if you want to add the disheartening undertone of Blade Runner to the setting (I love me some Grimdark).

Quote:
TENETS OF THE ANCIENTS
The tenets of the Oath of the Ancients have been preserved for uncounted centuries. This oath emphasizes the principles of good above any concerns of law or chaos. Its four central principles are simple.

Kindle the Light. Through your acts of mercy, kindness, and forgiveness, kindle the light of hope in the world, beating back despair.

Shelter the Light. Where there is good, beauty, love, and laughter in the world, stand against the wickedness that would swallow it. Where life flourishes, stand against the forces that would render it barren.

Preserve Your Own Light. Delight in song and laughter, in beauty and art. If you allow the light to die in your own heart, you can’t preserve it in the world.

Be the Light. Be a glorious beacon for all who live in despair. Let the light of your joy and courage shine forth in all your deeds.
I will think some more, go to bed (its 9:43PM here) and update this post tomorrow

Character Name: Six-Twelve (Warforged Nexus-6 Batch Twelve variant)
Race: Warforged
Class: Fighter (Echo Knight) / Backup: Barbarian (Wild Magic)
Background: Soldier
Description of Characters Appearance and Picture if possible: The Nexus-6 series was an advanced and elite line of warforged imbued with specific magical potential. This required them to be far more intricate and detailed than their mass-produced brute counterparts. Their tactical awareness was heightened as well as their optical abilities, leading to a sleek faceplate with large optical sensors. The body was reduced to default human size as the magical engine would be too cumbersome if the warforged design had too much mass, which also came at the cost of options for heavy ordnance. This was made up by its tactical flexibility where the Nexus-6 might deploy standard ordnance from unexpected angles thanks to its self-replicating/teleportation core which makes up most of its inner torso.
[ +- ] Picture
Brief History: The Nexus-6 line of Warforged had a history of hit-or-miss designs. They were developed to deploy a new tactical element to the battlefield in addition to the rank and file, mass-produced brute warforged that would tirelessly push the front lines but were ultimately as simple and predictable as they were expendable. As the Euros found ever more effective ways to counter the design the Nexus R&D group was formed to create new types of Warforged. Particular successful designs were the force-multiplying Batch Three field repair warforged and the Batch Nine Magitek shielded artillery. Alas, there were also infamous designs that would quickly break down or go AWOL when designed too intelligently. The Nexus group believed it had finally created a true innovation in the Batch Twelve Variant by incorporating a highly sophisticated self-replication/projection core into a warforged frame. These warforged had the ability to project a physical image of themselves at short range allowing for surprise strikes, and the ability to teleport, swapping places with the projected image, allowing for unprecedented maneuverability. The design proved to be solid and reliable. Despite this, it was considered an abject failure due to the prohibitive cost of production. while ultimately stable, the self-replication/projection core was simply too complicated to mass produce efficiently. Only a few hundred Nexus-6 Batch Twelve variant warforged were produced.

Six-Twelve, as it was referred to by its handlers, proved to be highly effective in the war. It was often used to crack open bunkers and trenches, teleporting back and forth and delivering explosives. It also assisted by targeting command elements during engagements, bypassing the lines of defense around these targets. Even if damaged, it was always recovered by its handlers for repairs due to its tactical value. It was a useful weapon but never referred to as a person. At the time, this did not bother Six-Twelve. What observation it could make of the flesh and blood soldiers often led to the conclusion that personal attachment was undesired within a conflict zone.

It was not until the war was over and it was selected for citizenship that Six-Twelve had to consider the implication of being an individual. It was at that time three years old. And while the official story was that it was a hero for its many deeds in the conflict, the truth was that the forced behind the Nexus R&D group had lobbied for Six-Twelve's award for purposes of self-promotion, to remind politicians and investors that Batch Twelve was as effective as it was expensive. Six-Twelve was taken on a tour of the States, displayed its parlor trick for select audiences, and then was practically forgotten as attention shifted to new projects. Six-Twelve was paid a paltry sum of credits and was sent off to enjoy its 'free life'.

Freedom was a shocking experience to Six-Twelve. It quickly understood why; it lacked purpose. Not only that, non-warforged individuals outside of the military turned out to outright dislike its kind. In the streets people showed fear, hurled abuse, disparaged and openly hated on Warforged. It was very clear that its kind were third-class citizens. Open violence was thankfully practically unheard of, most people having enough sense not to attack a self-aware weapon of war. It wandered around, exploring Calgary for six hundred and thirty-three consecutive hours, wandering without rest. Having absorbed enough on how non-warforged individuals lived, it used its paltry funds to purchase a hab-box (a place to self-repair and store its belongings) and a vehicle. It also accepted a construction job, finding the work building something a refreshing change from its destructive past, despite its colleagues hurling abuse it for 'stealing their jobs'.

Then something went wrong. Six-Twelve finally began exploring philosophy. The concept of self-awareness. The value of life. Ethics. And the question arose: "Should a Warforged/I be treated this way?" and "Is it right that the others of my kind are stored away like lifeless objects?"

And it became frustrated.

How the character acts, likes and dislikes:
Six-Twelve is a soldier to the core. It likes an orderly structure like the military, where orders are passed down clearly. It has trouble engaging socially, missing social acumen for civilian life. Despite this it is fascinated by non-warforged life, even when it actively hates him. Despite its rock-hard and deadly exterior it is a child, still learning to understand the world. And as it learns, it begins to see that the world is intrinsically unfair, especially to its own kind. It struggles with this deeply and does not know how to come to terms with this outrage, or if it even wants to..

Non-Warforged concept coming up!

Character Name: Misha "Cobra Stalker" Mau
Race: Tabaxi
Class: Artificer
Background: Jack-Pilot (custom)
Description of Characters Appearance and Picture if possible: This short, thin tomboyish tabaxi has short grey fur, notably long ears and orange cybereyes. She wears an army leather flight jacket. A neckband hides the datajack at the base of her skull.
[ +- ] Picture
How the character acts, likes and dislikes: Misha is a no-nonsense street cat. She lives and breathes the simple life of the street-tough kid. She got a job, she tinkers on vehicles, smokes her cheap cigs and she even got her own place. Life is simple and good for her, except for persistent nightmares and flashbacks to the war she never wanted to go to in the first place. But hey, at least she's still alive.

Brief History: Misha was drafted against her wishes just as she finished high school. She lost the lottery and had to join the military to fight a war she never really believed in. However, her feline reflexes and high aptitude scores made her eligible to become a jack-pilot. These pilots receive cyberware to directly interface with the vehicles they control. However, her chances to survive the war, as well as the pay, rose dramatically for those who were willing to sacrifice their biological eyes. Seeing she was in the shitter far enough as is, Misha decided to join the program. She was taught advanced mechanics through hypno-tutoring and spent months in sim-modules piloting vehicles through various war scenarios until she was deployed to the front lines.

Her tour of duty was unremarkable on paper except in that she survived the ordeal. She had seen things she rather hadn't, done things that had an ugly way of popping up at night in her dreams. She doesn't talk about what she did to anyone. After returning she got a nice tiny apartment and a job as an airtaxi driver. She also rented a garage where she tinkers on custom vehicles, sometimes on commission.

It's 4 very interesting characters so fare. Who is your favorite @Khulod?

I like RU647, especially if he's a little bonkers about the Arthurian stuff and catches shit for it all the time. If you mean my own concepts, I like Misha Mau. I just am a sucker for Tabaxi. But I'll happily play Six-Twelve too.

I'm glad to hear it. I toyed around with dndbeyond to make RU647, and he is really growing on me
