Maulia, a beautiful tropical refuge for those who call it home on this largely unpopulated island. (Human settlements rest on the coast, save two Ierendi towns on a single road that runs through the eastern forested side of the island. The island otherwise consists of mountainous wilderness, a mystical forest, and the ancient burial grounds of the Makai people, the indigenous peoples of the Ierendi Islands.) The sight of this remote paradise invokes calm and peace on most who find their way to it...one way or another:

Cordey watches as he sees the tall mast coming in. He thinks, "Lets see what is coming." He packs up what he is doing and will head to the port to check things out. He takes his time putting away everything and striding over to the port. He knows that it takes a bit to get the ships in. He is curious to see the ship too. Cordey is still bothered some about what his gorgeous Lelay said. People here can be superstitious, but they also do well sometimes to see the future.

Admiral whistles to the helmsman. "You heard him, Pete! Starboard the helm! Easy does it! Morgan, throw a line to the dockmaster, would you?"

"We should find a dock out of sight... or if we can get close enough, I can slog through the water," Regan suggests, knowing the two will ultimately do what they feel is best regardless of his perspective. Which, truthfully, was fine. Their skill in navigating the waters in such a small vessel was truly impressive. He had helped, of course, as the lessons learned from almost fifteen years as a sailor didn't just vanish during his time enslaved... still, he couldn't help but feel as though his contributions were superfluous.

He doesn't have much in the way of equipment, and shoulders his backpack as he makes ready to disembark. "My work is cut out for me here, I feel. But the two of you... what are your plans?"

Cordey says to Martin on his way out, "That I will. We can always use some more work." Cordey thinks 'Yeah. This could be good.' as he makes his way to the port. Thoughts of LeLay slip from his mind.

His view of the ship draws his attention. Wondering how long it is going to be in port. He doesn't tarry too long before he heads to port.

He replies back to Peda, "Well. You know Martin can always use some more work." as he approaches. "I suspect we know about them soon. I like to chat with that their captain about repairs and such for Martin."

On the off he mentions, "Did you notice those circuses like people on board. I wonder if they are coming here?"

Cordey just taken his time chatting with Peda. Takes a while for that ship to get all docked in and such.

"Perhaps weigh anchor in the lagoon to the north? It should be far enough from other ships to keep us undetected," Regan muses as he watches the activity at the port. After moments tick by, he adds, "You are correct though. Reporting back to the Veilmaster is the wisest choice. Do you need any supplies for the return trip?"

The hairs at the nape of Admiral’s neck prickle with apprehension as Reaver warns him of the presence of undead. He gives himself a little shake, smooths out his puffed-up fur, and vaults over the ship’s railing, landing lightly on the dock. He bounds over to talk with the dockmaster and this big half-elven fellow as his crew finish securing the ship to the dock. "Ahoy there! Thanks for the help. What a pretty harbour you’ve got here! We ought to stop by Elegy more often, I reckon." He extends a hand for a handshake as he introduces himself. "Captain Admiral of the Whisker."

As the Whisker continues to dock, a thick foggy mist rolls in off the sea. It moves quickly toward Maulia and soon covers the port, surrounding the vessels within...and any approaching. The cover brings an unnatural chill. Villagers move about uneasily and those tending to boats on the the docks make haste in securing them.

Mildly perturbed at the sudden mist, Regan shakes his head and turns his attention back to his own boat. "The lagoon sounds like the smart play. Rest is a good idea. Is there anything you need from me? Anything I can do to help?"

"Well Captain. I have heard that some ships are like a circus out there but seems yours has one."

Cordey takes a breath, "I'm see your vessel could use some minor repairs. Martin at Hideaway Ship Hire would be the place to go. You will not get betters and I'm sure should come again he will look you over for discounts too."

With advertising done, "So how longs you be planning to make a stay here. Ales good Peda can vouch for that."

Admiral glances over his shoulder at the circus performers milling about on the deck of his ship. "They’re looking for their ship. Word is it’s in Maulia. I don’t suppose either of you two have seen it?"

He is barely listening to Cordey’s advertising spiel as he’s distracted by the sudden fog rolling into the harbour. He looks out to sea, ears pricked, eyes wide as he struggles to peer through the dense mist. "…Say, is this fog giving anyone else a bad feeling, or is it just me?"

"This is where we part ways, then. Thank you. Swift and safe travels," Regan says as he leaves the two (with their amulet) to return home.

Taking a few long moments to take in the scenery, allowing himself to put thoughts of vengeance and righteousness out of his mind to simply... appreciate nature's beauty.

And then, shouldering his pack and gripping his shield Regan begins the trek into town.

Cordey says as he sees the mist, "The weather we get here. Admiral. You lucky to be in port already. Why do you and your crew come down to the tavern and shake off some sea. Trade some stories." Seeing how the weather is changing, Cordey mind slips a bit to LeLay. Knowing she how she does like him to be gone with her knowing where.

"…Aye, that sounds like a fine idea to me," Admiral replies, still a bit uneasy but trying to hide it. He waves the circus troupe over to join him and Cordey and Peda on the dock and shouts back to his crew, who have just finished securing the Whisker to the dock. "We’re going to the tavern! Any volunteers to stay back and watch the ship?"

Regan sees it -- whatever "it" was -- shoot off into the brush, and shakes his head dismissively.

"Nope... no, that's how people get lured off into the forests, lost, and are never heard from again," he mutters to himself as he turns his focus back to the path leading into town. "Maybe if I wasn't alone."

With that, he continues his trek towards town.

Admiral falls into step just behind Tarron at the back of the ridiculous parade of pirates and acrobats. He hasn’t spoken a word to the half-elf since they (literally and figuratively) stabbed each other in the back and he’s still rather sore about the attempted mutiny. Making a point of ignoring Tarron, Admiral turns to Cordey (assuming Cordey’s coming along to the tavern) and asks, "So you’re in the business of repairing ships? Are you a sailor too or just a carpenter?"
Dec 28, 2023 4:41 am
"I don't see how you can just repair ships without of a touch sailor in you. Especially since I am part Sea Elf."

"Well good to see your here. Is there anything here that you were looking for or just a stop by? There is much here to offer."
