Fabula Ultima
The system we're going to be using is Fabula Ultima, the TTJRPG. The system is a fairly rules light adventure game designed to mirror things like Final Fantasy or the Tales series on table top (or in our case web). It's easy to understand and has a wealth of customisability for you to make your favourite JRPG protagonists.

In terms of dice mechanics, it's entirely built around 2 dice used for all checks. These dice range between sizes based on how high a character's stats are. The game is more narrative focused, giving rules for; backgrounds, changing motivations and, most importantly, the bonds between player characters.

It also has rules for mutually building the setting, so that will feature into the character creations and likely ongoing parts of the game. A perfect opportunity for some collaborative world building.

Press Start
The country of Dunova has always been a peaceful place. It's people are happy and content, and the country is rich and prosperous. It stretches from the Sea of Eternity in the west until the Giant's Shoulder Mountains in the east. Even it's relationship with it's borders are comfortable. Well, with all of them except one.

The Empire of Elonia, just beyond the mountains on it's eastern border, are ambitious. They are a hardy people born and grown in rough conditions. They want more than they'll ever need, and they bully their fellow nations. They've been making risky passes at Dunova's territory, something they've never risked before.

And at one point, they even went so far as to approach the Crater of Megido. The site of an ancient city, and an ancient disaster.

Their interest needs to be investigated, but King Roland refuses to agree to a mission. He's too afraid of the possibility of provoking a war. Luckily for him, a group of renegades don't have that fear.

What, or who, will they find there?

Adult & Controversial Themes
As a JRPG, I'd imagine this game to be light hearted and optimistic. I have no reason to believe anything will be outrageously controversial, but it's always good to be aware of such things. I'll be using the x card, lines and veils with this game in case anything darker does potentially come up.

Also, any marginalised or LGBT groups are always welcome in my games! :)

Character Restrictions
No character restrictions, any characters or classes are fair game. As per usual, try and work with your fellow players, since bonds make up a large part of this game's mechanics.

I'll make character sheets for the pregen characters as well, in case anyone wants to use one of them, but I won't be adding the narrative elements to them.

Game Duration and Frequency
Ideally I'd hope for a post per day, and that'll be the goal. I understand that real life comes first though, and that things will slow down as time goes on, so 1 per two days will be fine. If you can't for any reason, let me know. If I don't hear from you and you don't post in 3 days, I may consider shuffling things along without you.

Specialised Software and Resources
We shouldn't need any specialist software. If I can remember to set up a discord for us I will, but I tend to get pretty busy and these things slip my mind. If any specific form of communication is vitally important let me know and I'll see what I can do!

Player Experience
No experience required. It'll be my first time Game Mastering Fabula Ultima, so I'll be learning as we go just like you! (Although, I know the rules well enough to be confident don't worry XD). If you don't have the book but are interested in playing, or if you'd rather not go through character gen until you're comfortable, we will have the pregen characters available as I mentioned before.

How to apply!
To apply simply state your interest here!

I don't do first come first served, so ideally I'll pick people with an idea of who they want to play. I encourage character concepts with any and all levels of detail. I'm also happy to see details on the pregens, as long as I can see you've thought about the idea and where you want to go with it.

I am very interested. I bought the core rules and high fantasy pdf for myself as a christmas gift. Haven't read it completely, but I am thinking a circus performer.

I'm thinking of someone who grew up in the circus (may be another ancestry than human if those are around). He grew up around perfomers and was himself the strongman in the circus. He is a rather naive and trusting character that don't have a lot of experience with life outside the circus. For classes I'm thinking some combination of Guardian/Rogue/Dancer (from High Fantasy) and Fury.

Ha ha ha. There must be something in the air, I was considering doing something with a bit of a jester theme myself. Thinking something in terms of Orator/Entropist and maybe a dash of Rogue, but I need a little time to refamiliarize myself with the rules (bought the core book back when it came out, still haven't bought High Fantasy).

Thanks both!

I've got the high fantasy sourcebook too. Because we're all relatively new players, I'm thinking I'll keep starting characters to two classes for now. If you have any questions regarding character creation or anything else, let me know.

I just picked up this PDF and was told it was "like Anima, but actually good."

I have ample time this week to give it a read, but color me tentatively interested.

Is the circus troupe a thing? Am I playing a performance wizard? It's certainly grabs onto the hook in the game's plot.

I'm interested. I have the pdf and read through most of it. I have a few concepts depending on the world.

High Fantasy: A shapeshifter monster hunter (Chimerist + Fury) who hunts down dangerous creatures to make the world safer.
Natural Fantasy: Warrior mage bodyguard (Elementalist + Weaponmaster) who protects a member of nobility.
Techno Fantasy: An alchemist gunslinger (Tinkerer + Sharpshooter) who crafts alchemical ammunition to give his bullets different effects.

I could also whip up a character sheet for the game as well.

If you're willing to throw together a character sheet that'd be ideal, I haven't had a chance to sink my teeth into that side of things yet, thanks!

Very early in development. I still need to add equipment, inventory, spells, and some other stuff. Should be able to finish tomorrow.

So far as I know, it's not a thing. It's just a bit of a synergy between Furmyr and my concepts. Of course, if you want to lean into it, you're welcome to as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, no problem. I haven't sent any invites out yet so you've got time!

I don't know the system, but I'm definitely in. For now I imagine a Selphie slowly evolving into a Quistis.

Appearance
(Doodle Forthcoming)
Follia stands at a lanky 5'8", with long spidery limbs and fingers that exaggerate her motions and make her seem subtly "wrong", particularly when combined with the contortions she settles into when resting. Most recognize her by her face mask, which is split into white and black halves with a four-pointed star for an eye set in the black half and a crescent moon serving the same purpose on the white side. Splitting the duality of the mask is a broad grin which is shared on both sides. Her hair is hidden under a belled jester's cap whose long, floppy lappets swing and jangle with each exaggerated motion. While on the road, Follia wears a long coat made from a riot of different colored cloth scraps like some kind of mad quilt, shiny brass buttons matching the color of her bells. Underneath, she wears a leotard that continues the mix of colors and patterns of her coat, the garish mix making her a colorful eye-catching blur in motion, but also being so bright and busy that it's hard to really look at and study.

Few ever see behind the mask of the Merchant of Mirth, but that are strange hints that not all is right that one might notice while spending too long around her. Things like the fact that she neither eats nor sleeps, that her proportions are inconsistent, and sometimes in exaggerating a motion she will literally stretch, compact, or twist in ways that a creature of flesh and bone could not hope to. Those who've seen under the mask found not a face, but a shifting black scrawl bundles into a ball, with two unblinking round moons serving as eyes and the periodic glimmer of starlight escaping the scribbled being. Her shape is spooled up into a rough humanoid, but it doesn't have to be, and Follia has been squashed flat, strained, and perforated in the past to no lasting effect.

Bio
Follia is a rootless wanderer, travelling the wide world in search of new acts and new audiences. For over a century, she's entertained in slums, festivals, and noble courts, working the most intricate of a word plays and physical comedy of the lowest brow into her work. Many believe that Follia isn't a singular performer, but rather a troupe who market their talents behind a shared mask to add to their mystique. A handful of people who've toured with her know at least a bit of the truth.

Follia is a magical servant, a creature made from the stuff of Cosmos and bound to the will of a magician long, long ago. During the annihilation of Megido, she managed to snatch her freedom ... however, she did not return to the dark reaches beyond the stars. No, the grand follies of mankind clutched her attention, and after a few poor responses to her inhuman appearance she decided that she should be something of a fool herself.

That said, while a fool is gifted enough to speak their mind without paying heed to consequences, Follia doesn't believe that she has carte blanch to babble as she wishes. No, a fool's prattle serves a purpose: to disarm tensions, to guide people to the right course, and to bring mirth in their wake. Follia considers herself to have been fortunate enough to be a supporting character in the tales of others, the unlikely font of wisdom and compassion who subtly tips the world to brighter futures.

Dunova's tampering with the Crater of Megido, however, has tempted her out of the background. It's possible that, after long years, her tale it truly beginning in earnest.

90% finished. Usually I update sheets as I get experience in the game and know what's needed or not. Damage types for example, maybe reworking spells to contain spell descriptions. But good enough for now!

I am also very interested in joining. I'm reading the pdf, and will have a character concept very soon, if there's still availability.

Not sure how much detail you want, or the tech level, but I'm thinking either an old Adventurer that's a pilot/mechanic, or a young Magizoologist type. again, depending on the setting

Ohhh love this game! It looks like your pretty full, but if a spot opens up, I'd love to join in!
