Cannot change avatar for Character

I've tried this on the Fate Core character sheet and also the Dresden Files character sheet.

I've picked an Avatar for my character and I want to change it. When I click on Change Avatar, the "Choose Image" button briefly flashes and immediately changes to the old image.

As a result I can't change the avatar for my character.

Replicated on a Windows 7 x64 machine in the following browsers.

Chrome version 40.0.2214.115 m
Firefox 35.0.1
Opera 27.0

Have you tried deleting the old avatar first, and then uploading the new one?

Is there a way to delete an avatar? I can't work out how to do it.

If you click Change Avatar, there is a checkbox for "Delete Avatar".

That check box also disappears along with the "Choose Image" button.

Weird, that check box is gone for me now.

... I can't get the checkbox to disappear. I've put up an update that should help? I hope?

Just in case there's any confusion, I see the controls for changing my Profile avatar without any problems. It is an avatar for a created character that I can't change.

I wonder if it might have something to do with the size or porportions of the image?

One character has an avatar image 97x150, 12.4 kb
The other character has an avatar image 107x150, 24.5 kb

These are post uploaded size and proportions.

Eeer... it SHOULD be fine. It just has to be less than 10 megs. The recent fix didn't help? I was just able to do it on one of my own chars.

Before your fix, Im not sure, but post your fix, this is definitely an image size issue. If I click on the "Change Avatar" link while holding down the shift key (Open in separate tab), the Change Avatar dialog appears correctly.

If I click on the link normally, its looks as if the image is pushing the controls out of the viewable area. With the current fix, whether or not the controls are visible or not depends on the height of the avatar pic.

The Dialog does not seem to vary in size, so once the image gets past about 42px the controls start to get pushed off the bottom.

My suggestions:

1. increase the change avatar dialog height.
2. Truncate the existing avatar image with a of a buffer for different browsers.
3. chop the image off vertically, rather than keep existing proportions of the image for display.

Can you screenshot? I have an area of 150px x 150px for the avatar, so its really confusing that its cutting off at 42px...

I had that problem using Chrome. So I used Explorer and it worked.

Got it. I really hate this lightbox now... I gotta find a new one...

Yah, its fixed...

I think so, at least if I destroy my browsing cache in Opera it looks fixed, still looks broken in Chrome and Firefox, but I assume thats just caching.

You should consider using the no-cache meta while your are rapidly rolling out changes to this site. It might add a little download weight, but would sure help you tell if a problem is still evident

Yah, very good point. So so so many basic site development rules are being broken right now... cache versioning, rollout procedures, testing methods...
