During his brief stay in Hawai’i, Reg received an unexpected early birthday present, and flew home quite distracted by his new experiences, as well as fidgeting with a puka necklace which he would wear for the rest of his life.

Upon arriving home from Hawai’i, Reg had a long discussion with Henry regarding their feelings about working for OV and the dangers involved, both physical and psychological. A few days later, he visited the OV offices and asked to be removed from the field agent list. He offered his services as an IT advisor, and remained active in the office. He took advantage of therapy provided by OV in order to try to recover from the traumatic events he had experienced.

In March, Henry moved to Scotland for school. Derek also moved out later in the year to be with Stevie, leaving Reg without housemates.

In November, a phone call from the family lawyer wanting to discuss the Taylor estate was how Reg learned of the death of his parents, who were killed in a helicopter crash in Indonesia nearly a week prior. Alone and in shock, Reg spent the next two weeks dealing with the logistics of returning his parents’ remains to the States for burial, while also working with the lawyer to begin probate proceedings.

During this time, he did not reach out to his friends, but did confide in one person: Kai Kamaka. After finding out about the death of Reg’s parents, Kai left Hawai’i and made a surprise visit to Orlando, offering emotional support.

Reg delayed his parents’ funeral until the holidays were over. After a gentle reminder from Kai, Reg notified his friends of the date in early January 1999. Henry flew in that day. If Stevie and Derek attended the funeral, it was the first time that the four of them were together since Henry left in March of 1998.

Reg stayed close to Kai during the funeral, which was an exhausting circus. Reg knew next to none of the people there except by sight, as several well-known local personalities and a few Hollywood celebrities were in attendance. Between speaking with and receiving condolences from everyone there, Reg could do little but acknowledge his friends during the proceedings.

Reg and Kai departed immediately after the service, and Reg sent a text to his friends to join him at the Taylor family home. Upon arrival, they would find the house absolutely filled with flowers, many from recognizable names.

After a few stiff drinks, Reg very nervously came out to his friends, introducing Kai as his boyfriend. The group would remember Kai as the surfing instructor from the resort in Hawai’i, who, according to Reg at that time, had spent the whole vacation talking with him about video games - a cover story that made some sense at the time, but the truth seemed obvious now.

A few days after the funeral, Reg ended his active service with OV, but did not officially resign. He turned his full attention to working with his team of lawyers to sort out the Taylor Estate.

Reg was left stunned by the sheer amount of wealth he had inherited. He was quite bitter for a while, as his parents had told him nothing about it, and had left him to fend for himself. They had even lied to him about lacking the money for his tuition, resulting in him never having gone to college.

It took Reg nearly two years to fully consolidate all of the holdings, and to decide how to deal with the assets. Instead of selling his family’s PR business, he took over and was able to increase the number of clients by taking the firm in a different direction. He and Kai soon relocated almost full-time to the home he inherited in Beverly Hills.

If he was invited, Reg gladly attended the wedding of Stevie and Derek. Not wanting to cause a stir, he would arrive either with or without Kai, according to their wishes, and/or the wishes of the Bernard and Cyrus families.

Now some seventeen years later, Reg spends at least half of his time in and around Los Angeles, where he runs a large PR firm and talent agency, and is an independent investor.

Reg has an almost prescient ability to predict trends in fashion, media, and technology, which has served him well and allowed him to build enviable wealth in addition to his inheritance.

He is a fixture at fashion shows, parties, and events, and is frequently seen in the company of Hollywood’s elite. He and Kai hold numerous gatherings and private showings at their home in Beverly Hills.

He is known to be charming and exceptionally stylish, and is noted for being in a scandal-free, stable, long-term relationship, which is rare in Hollywood. He is also valued by his clients for his personal support and discretion, especially in dealing with addiction or detox situations.

In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano, video games, collecting comics, travelling, watching daytime soaps, and keeping up with computer technology and electronics.

He and Kai visit local comic and game shops wherever they travel, and they have a favorite local shop in LA. While Kai is not a roleplayer, he occasionally humors Reg by playing a solo one-shot.

Reg has made very few real friends since the gang split up in 1998. Outside of Kai and his right hand woman, Lyse Lunden, the closest he has to true friends is a group of gamers he has curated over the years. They all play TTRPGs and video games together, and he attempts to meet with them once a week, or at least post on their active message boards. Though they are all close, the group is strictly online and anonymous, and they know Reg only as "Artie".

He is a great philanthropist, giving money and providing resources to various charities, including GLAAD, The Trevor Project, organizations specializing in addiction support and mental health, and numerous local and international animal welfare charities.

He has amassed a large collection of gemstones and jewelry, much of which was inherited from his mother. He doesn’t wear any of it, choosing instead the puka necklace he was given by Kai on the day he left Hawai’i in 1998, and his engraved gold wedding band. He does enjoy looking at his collection though, and keeps it in a special vault built into their Beverly Hills home. He is known to loan pieces out to friends, clients, and studios on occasion.

After seventeen years together, Reg and Kai were recently able to be legally married. On July 27th, 2015, the small ceremony of blended Western and Hawai’ian traditions was held at the Kamaka family’s estate on Moloka’i, Hawai’i, and was attended by family and close friends. Travel, expenses, and accommodations were provided for the whole Cyrus family, as Reg fervently hoped they would attend. Henry was also invited, and broke his No-Gatherings rule in order to stand up with Reg as Best Man.

In the Winter, when the waves are at their peak, they visit Kai’s home at North Beach, Oahu, Hawai’i, where Kai spends the days surfing. The two will also visit Kai’s apartment in Akihabara, Japan a few times a year, to indulge their love of anime and manga, and to check on current trends. Kai often goes there alone when Reg is called away for business.

Several times a year, Reg visits his properties in Milan, Paris, and New York for Fashion Week. Kai, who is not a huge follower of fashion, will usually visit Hawai’i or Japan during these times, and Reg will bring his "Second In Command" Lyse Lunden along with him instead. Stevie has a standing invitation to join him.

Reg also tries to make time to go to Orlando at least a few times a year so that he can visit the Cyrus family. He often comes alone, and has reacquired his old one-bedroom apartment, staying there more often than he stays at the Taylor home. He has remodeled and redecorated the apartment, and walking into it is like walking back in time to 1997.

When Kai joins him in Orlando, they stay at the Taylor home. They always go to Disney World, as Kai is a huge Disney fan, and likes Disney World better than DisneyLand. Reg always offers to bring the Cyrus kids along to the parks with them.

He makes every effort to spoil Stevie and Derek’s children rotten, and they receive lavish gifts on every holiday and birthday. Stevie and Derek also receive frequent gifts - Stevie being presented with designer shoes, purses, and shiny things, and Derek receiving all sorts of Action Movie shenanigans, including invitations to Meet & Greets for his favorite celebrities.

Henry, Stevie & Derek, and the Cyrus kids have a standing invitation to visit anytime, or to send the older kids (and their friends, if they want) out to spend Summer Vacation with them in Beverly Hills. Reg is happy to send a jet to pick them up and bring them home.

In addition to the standing invitation to visit, Reg makes all of his other properties available to the group for vacations or other uses, as long as he is given enough lead time to ensure vacancy.

He has also quietly spoken with Derek about the luxury rehab facilities that he is invested in, should the need ever arise.

Early on, Reg’s first flex was to clear a large block of time at his property in New Zealand and bring everyone out to the filming of LoTR, in which at least some of the group ended up as uncredited extras. Due to his adherence to the No-Gatherings Rule, Henry declined to attend.

Henry sticks so religiously to his No-Gatherings rule that he has become increasingly impossible to track down. Annoyed, Reg bought Fa’side Castle in Scotland in order to see him more often, threatening to rename it "Fuck You" Castle.

Kai, who was not consulted on the purchase, was less than enthusiastic. He fretted about having to monetize the property, and joked about having to figure out what "cold people" like to do. He has made it work by continuing to use the Tower and the two cottages as B&B rentals, and has leased out the attached stud farm with the assistance of the McAlister Family.

Over the years, Reg has had several mutually beneficial dealings with The Tong, as he respects their competence, efficiency, and reach. He learned to speak either Mandarin or Cantonese, depending on the leadership’s preference, in order to facilitate communication.

Reg blames OV for the loss of connection with his friends. He no longer works for them in an official capacity, and generally wants nothing to do with them, however, he remains open to limited cooperation, and will not deny aid to local or visiting operatives.

Over the past 17 years, he has put aside the anxiety caused by touching The Crystal, and has lost any interest in the King in Yellow. As nothing has happened for so long, he hopes that it is all over.

He still retains possession of all KiY artifacts, The Crystal, and the Ars Goetia, which he keeps in a hidden vault in the Beverly Hills home. He occasionally collects other occult items, but it’s mostly for fun or display, not in an attempt to gather resources against the King in Yellow. Kai doesn’t understand the fascination, and chalks it up to Reg’s love of roleplaying.

Reg continues to keep his activities with OV and Leaping, as well as his dealings with The Tong, a secret from Kai, who jokingly refers to any strange goings on as "That Secret Service bullshit you won’t tell me about".

Kai Kamaka

Kai is easygoing and energetic in a true "Surfer Dude'' sort of way. He has a wonderful sense of humor, is glacially slow to anger, and is quick to find joy in almost everything.

He loves video games, anime, manga, and all things Disney. When they met, he and Reg clicked immediately, and they really did spend a lot of time talking about video games before things became more serious.

When not working, he enjoys travelling, surfing, and diving. He purchased a property on North Beach, Oahu, so that he can enjoy surfing there in the Winter.

He’s one of only three people who can get away with calling Reg "Reggie" - the others being Derek’s mother and Lyse Lunden.

He comes from a large family (four sisters, three brothers, dozens of cousins, aunts, and uncles), who mostly still live on the island of Moloka’i, Hawai’i. The family runs a resort there, and Kai visits often.

Kai has degrees in Business and Finance, which he finished while helping Reg settle the Taylor Estate. He has a talent for real estate, and has a broker’s license in several states. He is in charge of managing all of the properties owned by both of them, as well as finding other good investments. He is also in charge of staffing for all properties, occasionally partnering with Henry and the McAllister family to find the right people for the job.

Always fit and active, he’s had to ramp up the exercise recently to avoid what he refers to as "Polynesian Spread". Reg’s continued love of sweets has not been helping, and Kai is forever forcing him into the home gym with him. He has Reg loosely following his own Pescatarian diet, and recently banned sugar from the house (semi-successfully).

He is fluent in Japanese, and has an apartment in Akihabara, Japan, where he occasionally retreats when Reg is called away, and where the two of them often go to see what’s new on the scene.

Kai is a true delight and a blessing to Reg. They were each other’s first and only, and have remained faithful throughout the years.
