Welcome everyone! Looking forward to playing with all of you. Please take some time to browse through the rules and ask me stuff before we start. Not everyone knows each other here, so a brief introduction is in order. I would especially like to know if you have any expectations of thie game. No rush, let's give everyone some time to get here, it being weekend and all.

We'll talk about lines and veils in a bit as well.

Finally, here's the link to my gaming Discord if you'd like a more convenient chat platform.

Hi everybody! HTech here :) I'm a fan of science fiction games with almost 30 years of tabletop experience but just started playing in PbP last year, as unfortunately I don't have enough time for a game session taking hours anymore. PbP did scratch my rpg itch and I now see many advantages in this kind of games, specially for my current life stage, relationships and responsibilities

I'm in Brazil (GMT -3), so will probably be offline when you post. =)

I have the Mechatron rulebook and I'm more than willing to help anyone with rules or character generation =) I just skimmed the GM section months ago, thinking if I would GM this game, but never actually played Mechatron and won't spoil my fun reading the campaign now. Let's play to find out what happens! =)

I'm in Singapore, GMT+8, so it's looking like we'll be posting from various time zones! :)

Hello and welcome, I don't have much experience in Sc-Fi games at all but I'm excited to give this game a go. I've reached the point that I think I prefer Pbp over in person games especially as a Game Master, though there are elements of In person games I sometimes miss.

I enjoy RPG's for storytelling, the last two games I played in my character's didn't get a happy ending and not necessarily because they couldn't have, but because it didn't feel like the right end of the story.

Same Time as you, at least for now we've got time changes here, not sure if you do over there.

I've got almost no idea what I'm doing, I think I understand the basics, I don't have any of the books just the quickstart guide, based of what's in the quickstart I'd say Stalker or Fixer seem most Interesting to me, I'm not sure if there's an equivalent in the Mechatron Rulebook or how that all works but I'm ready to find out!

Hello. I know some of you from around here. I'm an old rpg'er that started back in the day with Basic D&D. Played all kinds of games, but I'm new to the M:YZ games. I have the M:YZ free starter rules, but nothing else. I probably won't buy Mechatron to play this game, as I won't be able to resist reading the GM section. 😁

I don't really have any expectations for this game. Just hoping to learn a new system and have some fun.

Hello, everyone! :D I'm here to try to play a sentient car, beep-beep.

I don't have the book (and can't get it) and am unfamiliar with the base game either, so might need some assistance with the rules and character generation. Or from what I'm seeing in the corresponding thread, a ton of assistance. :V Is there some kind of step-by-step instruction for chargen in Mechatron? Or should I use the free starter guide mentioned and just go from there?

Also, GMT+3 for me, but I usually post at night, so eh, probably won't matter much. ..I'd also prefer not to post on weekends, if possible.
(Actually, this is in part why I want to play a car - so my absence doesn't matter as much if it happens. Let me be the group's vehicle. :D)

Thanks for setting up expectations, I appreciate that, but it's a closer-knit four player game, so syncing with each other's posting rates and accommodating absences will be part of how this game will play out. Let's start with honouring the fact that your input will matter equally as everyone else's, no need to pick a character that we imagine to be less contributing.

Also, there's no need for a car as transport. The robots don't need to 'ride' each other, and there are no humans (at least not yet)!

Ah, don't get me wrong, I enjoy having passive characters as well as active ones, it's not just the absence thing! :D (And I do have a special love for playing inanimate objects, and characters who are otherwise limited in interactions.) It's also less narratively awkward for me if I miss an event with a character who is the type to be quiet or occupied by other things, instead of a usually talkative one suddenly having nothing to say. The latter case makes me wish to retroactively correct it, and these posts are a pain to write.

..But I *want* other robots to ride me. D: Haha, great out of context quote. It would also make for great visuals!

Question: how will rolls look formatting-wise? Mostly in terms of whether we're going to separate dice by types when rolling. And what numbers are ☢ and the like.
(I wanted to add a roll table onto the sheet. :D)
May 4, 2024 1:10 pm
If we were using actual dice, they come in three different colours to represent program dice, base dice, and gear dice. On a d6, the radioactive symbol represents a 6, the biohazard symbol represents a 1. For PbP we don't need to do that.

A typical roll is Program level + Attribute score + Gear (if any). So we'll just roll x number of d6s accordingly. If you roll at least one 6, that's a success, (pending any modifiers from the GM). eg Move 2 + Stability 4 + Fancy Wheels 1 = 7d6 to roll.
May 4, 2024 1:21 pm
So it doesn't matter which dice rolls what?
I'm figuring out if I should format rolls like (2d6,4d6,1d6) or just (7d6).
May 4, 2024 1:24 pm
Nope, it shouldn't matter. Or if in the rare occasion that it does, we'll just read the result in the order it is displayed, ie first two results, next four results, last result.

Are the various robots mentioned by name in the model descriptions (usually in the "hate or protect" sections) NPCs of note in Mechatron-7? Or are they just random names provided for color in the suggestions?
May 5, 2024 11:37 pm
They are not mentioned in the Mechatron-7's players section about the city but I don't know about the GM’S section, because I didn't read it... So I used the NPC name from the suggested hate/protect phrase, verbatim.

But now that I think about it, maybe you can create one. BedzoneII will probably include it either way, when appropriate.
May 5, 2024 11:40 pm
PS: NODOS is the only name that matters and the only NPC of note. At least in the chapters that I read =DDD

I'm good if you change up the options if they aren't particularly inspiring, name change, descriptor change, all work. I'll find a way to weave it in, whether tangentially or critically important.
May 5, 2024 11:59 pm
I used one of my "hate options" verbatim, but used a name from my hate list in a "protect" statement that I invented. I notice some names appear in the lists of multiple models.
May 6, 2024 12:22 am
Yep, that's supposed to help make connections between PCs.
May 6, 2024 1:18 am
Oops, I made up both my NPC connections. But one of them is a coordinator, so that's a connection to Sir, right?.. :'D

I submitted the sheet, though it's still a bit WIP. I hope it's okay that I made my own design; though it is inspired by KoldikSteelskin's - thanks for it, by the way!

I think we've all developed the sheet beyond the point I Had it at, we probably all did different things as well, It wasn't finished when I first posted it, I'm not even sure I'm done with it now and I have a character ;)
