Since our Archivist chose the Petty Sorcery move and we have a Navigator PC, would it be all right if I took the Theosophamy Discipline instead of Telepathy? Being able to fix Very Bad Warp Related Problems™ would be a big boon. Plus it fits a Rogue Trader's self-image to be a "chosen one" and have "holy magic."

Sure. =)

Works for me.

Ardanor Barkne is obviously the Navigator.

Would the players of Arebella, Gregor, and Johan want specific positions of importance on the ship or dynasty?

I don't want to shove responsibilities like that at anyone who's not interested.

Suitable offices I can think of off the top of my head are

Seneschal: majordomo, trains and oversees officers

High Factotum: extremely fancy accountant and trade manager

Master-at-Arms: trains and leads the ship's marines

Chief Chirurgeon: head of the ship hospital

Master of Ordnance: in charge of the gun crews and ammo depots

Master of Etherics: the sensors guy, especially for handling outputs, which in 40k are not at all straightforward (Omnissiah be praised)

(For the record, Arch-Militant and Archivist are both professions in the setting. An Archivist is exactly what it sounds like, and an Arch-Militant is a professional warrior who can fight at least as well as a Space Marine and is employed as a champion of a rich person.)

Yeah, I got the freedom to present my character as the bodyguard of Elizabeth. I guess the Arch-Militant is a role suited for this.

"Arch-Militant" is certainly a title of respect!

Also, on another note, absolutely no one should refer to Johan as "Captain" while aboard ship. There is, after all, only ever one captain on a naval vessel. Tradition in the real world is to refer to an army Captain as Major and a different naval Captain as Commander, the next lowest rank in each hierarchy. Would you prefer that Johan instead be called Colonel?

Hmm… I do love more titles. I think high factotum would be the only one that kind of fits Gregor as an archivist. He’s constantly analyzing and keeps to himself when able

He'll be responsible for lots and lots of paperwork and spreadsheets and making sure all of the regular crew have food and clothes and shotguns and stuff like that. Boring, droll work. With many, many books. That gives him a great excuse to talk to absolutely nobody but the servants who deliver his food and do his laundry for 3 weeks at a time.

Not that I'm saying it's a perk.

Terrible burden you understand.

Of course, there is no Microsoft Excel in the Imperium (praise the Omnissiah) so all of this will need to be done with purely mechanical assistance. It's just dreadful how much time he'll have to spend by himself. With his books. And math.

Yeah, I do not mind. I use "Captain" for now because I think it's a bit empty to just use his name with the position he has. He can be the "Merc". Hah. (I think there is a comic book character with this name)

I don't know if we have anything representing static languages in this system, but I can't imagine Arebella would have dealt with them before?

Are you waiting on any of us, @PiebaldWookie?
