Just got the book and I would like to know if there is interest in this. I have not studied it fully. I am thinking of DMing it in the following couple of weeks. It takes place during the late 1800s as far as I have read, maybe we can change it to 1990s or modern day.

It's a fun setting. I live in the Appalachian region :) I'd be happy to be a 'sounding board' for questions or ideas!

Qralloq is running/has ran a game of Old Gods. He might have some good advice, as well, should you need it.

Tentatively interested, but I really shouldn't take on any more. Divorcing it from the setting era seems like it'd strip out a lot of what makes the game though?

I did try to listen to the podcast, but I just can't cope with the accents in it and didn't get past the first episode. Maybe I'm just too British...

It's a great setting.

Love Cypher, love OGOA horror podcast. The game was cool, so full of detail and juicy tone. I chose to run it in the modern day, or rather the late 90s, early 2000s.

If I had any advice, it would be to really lean into the horror tone. The setting is great but what makes OGOA awesome is the creep and the weird.

I also... recently got the .pdf. I'd be interested in trying this out.

It was a great game, but we kept forgetting it was set around 2000 and our characters wouldn't have smartphones 😆

I always thought about giving cypher system a try. I don't have the book but I am really excited to play this. If you have a free slot, I am interested to give this a try.

Cell phones do not work eveywhere in the world. And paranormal activity can always interfere with electronic equipment. You do not miss necessaringly lots of stuff if you jump 100 years the storyline. I am an outdoors person and when in the woods, electronic equipment is the first to give way. I always trust my knife, axe and handwritten notes rather my smartphone.

I do sometimes think that smartphones could be used more in horror than just have them not work when they would be too convenient. Creepy calls, things flashing up for 1/4 second on the screen, the steadfast inability to enter your unlock code when you're desperately trying to make a call...

I too have always wanted to try the Cypher system out! I'm familiar with the podcast (I love it) and I'm from Northern Appalachia and I can attest that cell phones don't work everywhere even in places that they normally work. You can go around a hill, then suddenly you have no service. I'm interested in playing a game set in the 90's in the Old God's universe!
