Decklan is waiting with the wagon, growing impatient as time ticks away. "We got places t'be. Buncha lazy, insufferable, uppity..." The rest is lost in unintelligible grumbles as he sets about finding the stable hand to get things ready to go.

Raven rises just before sunrise and heads down to the stables to check on the oxen, ensuring that they are well fed for the day ahead.
"Good Morning Rudy, how is that hoof this morning?" the big grey oxen snorts a reply, "Let me look at it and then we will get you two your breakfast."
Raven checks over the ox's hoof to ensure that it is still looking well and then will assist Gurn in getting the two oxen fed and watered before they are needed for the wagon.

Why, Count Alexander Simonnet Natalis de Bertier du Puy, I would love to dance the sarabande with you. Where did you learn such a difficult dance and, so gracefully as well? said the stunning redhead to Alex as she slowly sashayed over to him, fluttering her kohl-darkened eyelashes seductively. Well, my dear, I spent time in Amn and Tethyr, among their nobles and their knights, and picked up a few moves—on the field of battle and the floor of dance.
Alex reached out to take the hand of the lovely green-eyed lady when he felt his eyes begin to water. The scene started wavering, getting progressively blurrier. Alex reached up to rub his eyes and found himself not in the ballroom, but in a narrow bed upstairs in the inn. The early morning sun had gotten into his eyes. BLAST it. Just when the dream was showing promise, he muttered quietly so as not to wake his fellow sleepers.
Alex stretched, yawned, and proceeded to the restroom to relieve himself. Dressing in his small clothes, tunic, and hose, and boots, he buckled on his rapier, primary fencing dagger, and a few of his throwing daggers. Walking straight outside, he took a deep breath of the fresh clean air and proceeded to perform his morning routine of limbering exercises and isometrics. After warming up, he started his morning fencing routine. Lunges and retreats, Prime, Quarte, Sixte. Alex lost track of his surroundings, losing himself in the dance. He always found great similarity between swordplay and dancing. After a graceful parry and spin move which finished his routine, Alex sheathed his sword and dagger. What I need is a partner; there is much one can learn when facing an opponent. I should ask if one of my companions would be kind enough to practice with me, Alex thought.
Alex found a small piece of wood in the yard, and set it up against one of the inn's walls. He then took about twenty or so paces back and proceeded to whip his daggers out and aim them at the target. He went back and forth a few times, covering different stances and angles. This also served as a decent cool-down from the aerobic exercise of the rapier routines.
Finally, as the sun rose ever brighter in the sky, and the noises of the inn become louder and more insistent, Alex returned upstairs, wiped himself down, re-washed, and dressed for the day—in his travel clothes and not his flashy formal costumewear, alas.
Coming downstairs, he approaches the now-familiar innkeep and asked My good sir, was breakfast included in Master Gundren's beneficence?

Tatiana rose early with the dawn and silently began her morning rituals. She dressed behind the folding screen into her traveling clothes, pausing only when Alex passed through the room. She finished her routine and sat upon her bed to brush her hair.
Her annoyance at the thwack thwack thwack of daggers thrown against wood was palpable. The smith's hammer she could tolerate, but the daggers had an inconsistent cadence that intruded into her thoughts. She considered whether it might be the stable boy chopping wood in an inefficient and generally rude manner. Her eyes narrowed and a smile played upon the corner of her lips and she envisioned a glorious path of revenge and destruction heaped upon the poor lad's head.

Ammos begins to stir and wake from the activity in the room, he mutters a halfhearted "good morning" to those within earshot before turning his focus onto summoning Quintus for his morning routine. After filing down his clawed fingers and smoothing down wayward scales he uses the washroom to rid himself of any shed scales in privacy before dressing in his fine traveller's clothes and venturing downstairs to have a travellers breakfast.
After ordering his meal and seating himself somewhere quiet, he retrieves his triangular spellbook and skims through- intending to refresh his memory of the Mage armour spell to better teach Tatiana in the near future.

The common room is far less busy in the morning, no farm hands or their bosses. Just people who have slept at the Inn for the night. Your group and a few others. The bar is not manned and the server who walks about between the tables an older halfling man with a wide smile. Breakfast is included in Gundren's patronage. Each of you was brought breakfast as you arrive at a chair.
Gurn is in the stables and is grateful for Raven's help when he arrives.

Alex responds to Surge, indeed it does. A hearty breakfast, and then we head out on our mission—orcs and dragons beware! Alex exclaims, his enthusiam perhaps a bit forced.
Alex sits down at the table, thanks halfling man for his service, and digs into breakfast with gusto. Looking around he sees Surge, obviously, and then the dragonborn wizard. Thinking to call out a boisterous "hello", Alex spies said scaly snout seriously studying seemingly sorcerers spells somewhat somberly. Deciding that alliteration is the better part of valor, he leaves the wizard in peace—for now.
Alex continues his meal, waiting for the rest of the party to arrive; although he has some doubts as to whether Decklan will deign to show himself indoors. Something odd about that one, he thinks.

Finally ready, Tatiana gathers her belongings and doublechecks that everything is accounted for. She descends the stairs in propriety, setting her pack down and taking a seat across from her brother. She gives a gracious nod to the server for her meal and dines in silence, cutting larger chunks of egg and protein into smaller bites with her fork if Quintus is predisposed or unavailable.
Her attention is solely on her plate, but her eyes are distant, still narrowed in what Ammos would recognize as the thoughtful process in planning the demise of Those-Who-Must-Be-Destroyed.

Without looking up from his book Ammos addresses Tatiana, "You're brooding... who could possibly have irked you between sunrise and now? In such a short time- it must be a record." he smiles with his eyes and gives her a sidelong look as he teases.

Raven came in after getting the oxen started on their breakfast, thankful that Gurn would be able to finish up with them while he got himself breakfast. He didn't have a whole lot of time as he would still need to get them harnessed up to the wagon, but the farmer was used to having more chores than time in the morning. Despite the comments of Alex the night before about enjoying the meal, Raven chews through breakfast with efficiency, although at the table this time instead of curled up on the chair as he had last night.

Tatiana is shaken from her fantasy, and quickly adopts a stoic expression. "It is nothing, Ammos," she lies, inwardly cursing at her brother's insight borne from familiarity. "And a lady does not brood, she plans."
Placing her fork upon her plate, she rises from the table and smooths out her skirt, "For example, I plan to have a wonderful day." Tatiana leaves unspoken how she is going to accomplish that, and she continues, "Please extend my thanks to the proprietor for a lovely evening and being such a good host, and see to it that the stableboy manages our luggage properly."
Here, she steps around the table and takes Ammos's hand in two of hers, covertly slipping three silver coins into his scaly palm. "For the staff."
She closes Ammos's hand around the coins, gives it a pat, and smiles without showing her teeth. "I will just be outside for a brief moment. I should like to view the scenery and commit this place to memory. I won't be far."

Alex, Ammos, and Raven, you finish your meals in peace. Raven, the next time you go outside Gurn, who is very good at his job, already has the oxygen hitched and the wagon ready and waiting. Decklan, as Gurn prepared the wagon, he gave you a cheerful. "Good morning," and went about his business.
Tatiana and Surge, the day has dawned bright and sunny as of now, and seems as if it plans to be warm.

Alex continues his breakfast with enthusiasm; he had worked up quite the appetite with his morning exercises and was taking full advantage of Master Gundren's largesse. However, even the natural ebullience of youth would be overly ballasted by too many vittles, so with some regret (and slipping a roll or three into his pouch Slight of Hand roll) he pushed away from the table.
As he heads to the exit, he sees the lovely bard from last night. He stops and performs his most courtly bow, doffing his hat with a flourish. Most gracious lady, I fear that my adoration of you must come to an end for now. Nay, my adoration will remain constant and fresh, but I will no longer be able to bask in the presence of your inspired pageantry, for our mission takes us towards dangers myriad and malevolent, and who knows if I shall ever be able to worship at the altar of your lute in the future.
Here, Alex is hit by a moment of inspiration. My lady, if I may, a small poem as a token of my appreciation. Alex takes a dramatic pose, and begins:

Raven was finished with his breakfast and followed Alex toward the door. He had intended to head immediately to the stables again to get the oxen ready, although he was confident with Gurn who really seemed to know what he was doing. Raven becomes distracted though when Tallia arrives, not by the minstrel herself, but by the flourish Alex bestows upon her. The farmer tries hard this time to follow Alex's words, but nope, got lost in the middle and the poem, he guessed it was about her and didn't figure much else out.
As Alex finished, Raven realizes he had a job he intended to do, a quick smile, nod, and "Good morning" to Tallia and Raven was headed to the stables to find that the oxen were ready. Stopping to have a quick chat with each of them to make sure they are ready, be approaches Gurn.
"Thanks for hitching them up. They like you, said you were good to them. We are all glad to have met you." Raven stopped talking and just stood there for a moment, seeming to consider what, if anything he was supposed to say next. Idle Surge mentions, "I hope we don't encounter the ("Dwarven word for Orcs"). They are butchers. They take all that they can." and then he cuts off as he realizes what he was going to say further isn't for a lady to hear. "Lets hope our journey is safe." Appears that Surge doesn't like orcs.

After finishing he passes into the courtyard to briefly overhear some of the conversation between Raven and the stablehand, he takes note of Raven's personification of the oxen, and more curiously the way he describes that the oxen "said" that the stablehand was good to them. With some attempt at subtlety, Ammos will casually approach the oxen and address Raven.
"Wonderful beasts, hard-working and tireless. Unlike myself!" whilst laughing at his own joke, Ammos attempts to pat the oxen but, being quite unfamiliar, he just awkwardly taps them on the head.
"You seem to take great care of them, Raven." All the while, Ammos is trying to read Raven's reaction to and how he treats the oxen.

Ammos, It seems that the animals do indeed quite like Raven. They don't shy away from you but they seem to follow him with their eyes very closely.
With everyone assembled at the cart, you are ready to head out for the day. There's enough space for 2 people In the wagon besides the driver, one on the bench in the front with the driver and one place within the car itself.

Tatiana does not appear uncomfortable with Surge's use of the dwarvish term, either because of politeness or because she understands the word. "I suspect you have had encounters with many orcs," she says, panning her gaze across the wilderness beyond. "I hope we find time to learn from your experiences."
As the oxen-led wagon is brought into view, Tatiana turns to observe the stableboy. She appears to mentally disengage from Surge's conversation as the hem of her travel cloak falls across her shoulders to shield her gloved hands, and she watches the interactions around the supplies.

Having said goodbye to Gurn, Raven was just checking on the oxen when Ammos approached. He looked at the noble with his usually rarely blinking grey eyes. He had met few of the lizard or dragon folk, so Raven was uncertain which Ammos might be or if he might be something else entirely. The two nobles seemed related, but obviously that was its own question. One thing Raven was absolutely sure of is his mother would be quite cross if he blurted out any of those questions.

Without his father present, that was probably never, as they rarely saw the landowners of his farm, usually only at end of season when taxes were due. He smiled at the joke and noticed the awkward way Ammos patted the Rudy.
Gently he reached out and laid his hand lightly on the ox's nose, not that Rudy needed to be calmed, he was extremely well trained, but just to be certain. There was a moment of pause before Raven responded, Ammos may have noticed the young man often seemed to gather his thoughts before speaking. "Yes, m'lord Grifstone, they are doing a lot of work for us, so they deserve to be tended well. That is why Master Gundren hired me." He watched Ammos for another moment, then continued "Watch the eyes, Rudy doesn't like things close to his eyes, but a good scratch behind the ears is always welcome."
Although Raven is polite, it is fairly obvious that he cares more about how the ox feels than the noble. Not that he dislikes Ammos, Raven seems to like everyone you have seen him with. If anything, Raven appears slightly unsure why Ammos is talking to him and obviously isn't as used to it as the staff of the inn who are more accustomed to interacting with nobility.

Gently he reached out and laid his hand lightly on the ox's nose, not that Rudy needed to be calmed, he was extremely well trained, but just to be certain. There was a moment of pause before Raven responded, Ammos may have noticed the young man often seemed to gather his thoughts before speaking. "Yes, m'lord Grifstone, they are doing a lot of work for us, so they deserve to be tended well. That is why Master Gundren hired me." He watched Ammos for another moment, then continued "Watch the eyes, Rudy doesn't like things close to his eyes, but a good scratch behind the ears is always welcome."

Although Raven is polite, it is fairly obvious that he cares more about how the ox feels than the noble. Not that he dislikes Ammos, Raven seems to like everyone you have seen him with. If anything, Raven appears slightly unsure why Ammos is talking to him and obviously isn't as used to it as the staff of the inn who are more accustomed to interacting with nobility.

Perhaps picking up on some of Ravens discomfort, Ammos will listen politely to his advice, "Gundren always had an eye for the talented, I can see that he wasn't mistaken with you. We are in your care, master Raven." He will hesitate for a moment before continuing, looking around for a beat to be sure that his sister doesn't overhear what he says next, "And please, just call me Ammos. I am a proud Grifstone, but I should like to be seen as equal in our company."

Tatiana paused as Surge clambered up the incline to dive into the bushes, narrowing her eyes studiously at this first sign of aggression. She wondered if his blanket statement about orcs applied to goblins as well, and if that was a potential red flag.
Her internal monologue is interrupted as another goblin charged Raven and Alex. Brave, perhaps, for confronting two opponents at the same time, and Tatiana considered whether or not the charge was in retaliation to Surge's attack or indicative of something else. She stood in the wagon for a better look at her surroundings.
"Ammy, wake up," she chided, uncaring whether or not Ammos was already awake and alert. "We've either found the road-maintenance crew, or we've got bandits. Raven is hit with the goblin arrow, pain and shock mixed on the young man's face. He had been injured before, but never shot with an arrow, or had he? Raven had no memory of being shot with an arrow, but a strange sensation, a familiar sense of being hunted, struck with arrows, struggling to escape passed over him. He shook off the feeling, focusing on the goblins as the group struggled against the attack.

Alex was probably too focused on the beauty of the day and the tunes running through his mind, for out of nowhere he hears Surge yell something about an ambush, Raven run up next to him and get speared by an arrow, and the ugliest goblin in all goblindom pops up right next to him, screams something in their ugly language, AND TAKES A SWING at him. Instinctively, Alex bobs and weaves, and the scimitar makes an ugly hissing sound as it goes by, but missing him thank Tymora and all the gods. A moment later, said goblin erupts in a pillar of flame, which is further struck a mighty blow by Raven's staff.
The immediate danger passed, Alex is able to recenter himself and takes a quick survey of the situation. Seeing no other goblins than the one next to the bleeding Surge, Alex smoothly draws his bow, knocks an arrow, and with a whispered prayer to Tyche's Bright Eyed Daughter, sends it flying towards that goblin.

As Alex had no weapons drawn, I am assuming the free weapon draw action one usually gets to draw a melee weapon (although Alex has a feat that allows him to draw two melee weapons simultaneously works for taking a strung bow off his back. Also, I presume your squares are 5', but even if they are 10', Alex is within 80' of the goblin (taxicab distance; even shorter if we use diagonals), so it is within range of his shortbow. Lastly, since Surge is within five feet of the goblin, Surge is not incapacitated, and Alex does not have disadvantage, if this hits it is a sneak attack. I will roll for both and let the DM decide if it hits.OOC:

Feeling the pains, werewolf Surge attacks the menacing Goblin with his longsword two-handed and bites at it with his now elongated fangs.
If the pesky Goblin goes down, then blood thirsty Surge will rush across the way to the opposite bushing hunting for more blood. If the Goblin goes down with longsword, then observant Surge bonus action may not be his vicious bite and instead bonus action is to cast healing word on hurting Raven.

Hurting Surge now needs to find this Goblin. He decides it is time for cat and mouse. He casts healing upon himself and moves quietly 5' to the east and break sight himself. There he plans to rush attack the Gobin when it pops up.

The young farmer is shot a second time with an arrow, this one hits him even harder, staggering him as he considers another arrow. Another wave of pain and the confused feeling he had been here before, but not remembering ever having been shot before.
Reaching up for the arrow, he feels the energy of nature around him, arcane words appear on his voice as nature's healing surges through him again, pulling the arrow out.

When you prepare movement you can’t also prepare an attack, it’s like taking the Dash action. Hurt Surge that manage only to bring the archer Goblin into the open, is slightly stunned when a bolt of energy soars past him and takes out the Goblin. He turns quickly to see Decklan on the wagon had blasted it. He thinks, "Well half dead him does have a use."
Seeing how the situation must not be fully resolved, he rushes to over to aid Raven.

Heavily wounded Surge calls out, "Goblin is here!" making sure the party is aware of it even as he points it out and with the last of his movement, he circles around a horse body to put it between him and the Goblin making it harder physically attack him.

The farmer spots the goblin, unsure if it is a new one or the one he had been searching for. He anger at being shot has lessoned some, but with grim resolve he slides down the incline to attack the goblin.
Raven had heard Tatiana's call to capture one, so he attempts to put the creature down without killing it.

Upon Surge revealing the goblins position Ammos throws his spell but the nimble gobbling dodges. Raven arrives at its side just in time to miss the acid splash hit the horse carcass and smacks the goblin upside his head with a loud crack of his staff. The goblin is now unconscious.

Ammos climbs out of the cart as the chaos fades and fumbles in his satchel for his medicine kit, already pulling bandages out as he runs over to Surge ready to apply first aid to the bleeding beast-man.
"What on Faerun happened? How were we caught unawares?" Ammos kneels in the dirt as he calls out to the group, momentarily unconcerned with dirtying his fine clothes he begins to apply bandages and gauze to Surge's wounds. "Does anyone else require first aid?"

Raven has two obvious blood patches on his armor from the two arrows and looks like he may have coughed up some blood at some point during the fight. Neither wound seems to be currently bleeding. He stands looking down at the goblin he just clubbed unconscious, leaning a bit heavily on his staff. After some delay, he registers that Alex spoke to him.
Turning to Alex, "What? ... " he looks down at himself and notices that he is has an unhealthy amount of blood on him, all of it his. "I'm fine. Someone, Surge I think, healed me after the first arrow or I would be laying in the dirt up there." He waves a hand weakly in the direction of the trees where he chased the goblin.
Mentioning Surge, Raven looks across the horse at the shifter. He tilts his head distracted by the differences in his appearance, but then notes the significant sword wound. "Surge, you need some help?"
Raven ignores the goblin and walks around the horse toward Surge, still leaning on his staff as he walks.
I'm assuming Surge is still shifted at this point, but if he is back to normal already, I can adjust Raven's reaction.

Tatiana mutters a word in Draconic that is decidedly unladylike. "Ammos, your earlier concerns were warranted," she says. "Master Gundren and Master Sildar have either been killed or captured. If they are alive or dead, they should be that way." She points to the northeast in the general direction of the far goblin body.
Her assessment complete, Tatiana returns to the wagon and steps around to the tailgate. She stands there for a moment with her gaze back down the road they traveled, then crouches down behind the vehicle with her arms around her shins and face buried in her knees.

Alex immediately bristles slightly as Tatiana deigns to tell him, of the blood of the du Puys, what to do, but sighs and realizes that despite her condescension, she has the right idea. Thinking of what negative words rhyme with "Tatiana" or "blonde aristocratic nincompoop", he makes his way towards the insensate goblin and proceeds to secure him. "Her hair as bright as fools gold, her wit as dull as cheese, her manner’s getting too old, her grace is but a sneeze". No. That’s stupid.

Can I determine if it looks as if either Gundren or Sildar were killed? is there any evidence of blood on the trail where it seems that they were dragged away?
All the while Ammos is looking around, he is both muttering to himself and glancing at where Tatiana went, torn between concern for her and the very real danger his friend may be in.

Alex, you find moldy cheese and moldy bread in the pocket of the goblin. Ammos you can't tell for sure if all the blood around is just from the horses or from other species as well.

After the Gobin is taken down by Raven, werewolf like Surge transforms back to his more normal form. His elongated jaw of teeth disappears back & he loses more of his dire wolf looks. His leather armor is well blooded, and you can tell the combat has taken a lot out of him as well. Since he didn't manage to sink those vile looking fangs into the Goblin, you can surmise that the blood on him is mostly his.
With applying aide to him, Ammos realize there is a network of scar hidden beneath his fur. It is rather apparent that this wasn't the first time he been hurt badly. Ammos notices that Surge attitude toward him seems to have softened. Unfortunately, wolf'en Surge's healing powers were already exhausted during the battle, but Ammos fully heals him back. He wonders what dark place Decklan crawled from.
Collecting Surge will gather all the armor and weapons form the Goblin bodies. He is less concerned about the value of it as to remove it from being used again by possibly other Goblins. He doesn't feel bad if other items and coin comes with that. Nice to have a cart. He does pull the dead horses and Goblins to a burning pile to clear the road.

Alex grimaces at what he finds on the goblin. I’m not one for trophies, but this goblin has golden teeth if anyone wants to extract them. The thought of walking around with dead goblin teeth is too macabre for Alex, even though he needs the money. Let someone else less fastidious benefit.

Helpful Surge steps over and with his dagger he extracts the goodies. He doesn't seem to think twice about it. "Might be worth their weight." Obviously for a person that would bite off a Goblin's head, knocking out a few teeth is nothing.

Hearing that the horses looked like Gundren and his companion, Raven wandered over to where Ammos was looking for tracks. He bent down low to look at the ground, wincing at the fresh injuries, casually he said a few words and a gesture, feeling the inspiration of nature respond. Slowly he followed whatever tracks he could see, trying to look for something not a horse and bigger than the goblins.

Surge each goblin has a scimitar and a short bow. You also find 3 daggers. If you want to so a search of pockets make an investigation roll. You get two goblin teeth from Alex’s goblin, worth 2gp each.
Raven you can tell only slightly more than Ammos, there are drag marks there is blood, though you can tell that each of the drag marks were made by something that would fit a human or a dwarf.

Raven looks at the drag marks, "Seems like the goblins may have dragged them away. Perhaps the goblin will know if they still live. We should probably follow the tracks to see if we can find them, although what to do with the cart will be a question if we go off the road."

"Yeah, that's gonna be a problem," Decklan states the obvious as he jumps out of the wagon. "Obvious answer -- half of us protect the cart, the other half follow the drag marks. Problem is, splitting up leaves both groups at half strength."

Anything in the cart we can use to help rescue its owners? I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Also, I agree with the large, hulking, and formerly silent one over here. We should not split up. That way just allows these verminous goblins to overwhelm us more easily-damn their fecundity! We move as one, we fight as one, we are victorious as one! Alex punctuates this last statement with a flourish of his rapier and starts humming a martial tune.

Raven, both oxen are agitated from the ‘small ones’ attack and the smell of blood. They also are averse to going by the dead horses but they assure you that if you take them somewhere that doesn’t ‘smell so bad’ they would happily eat grass and wait for your return.
Decklan, the goblin probably wont wake up without gentle prodding for a while.
Alex, the equipment in the cart is mostly of the mining variety and not much help. Rope, pickaxes, wheelbarrows, and the like.

Raven knows that they are stakes and a water barrel in the wagon. That you could put the oxen out to pasture in a sheltered grove and they would be fine without you for a few days. It would not be too difficult to hide the cart in a place like that.Decklan, the goblin probably wont wake up without gentle prodding for a while.
Alex, the equipment in the cart is mostly of the mining variety and not much help. Rope, pickaxes, wheelbarrows, and the like.

Ammos recognises the steel in Tatiana's voice and cuts a concerned look at her, a swirl of uncertainty hits him. He worries for her, but recognises that Gundren is in very real danger as they speak.

Wolf'en Surge is more than ready to hear from the Goblin with hopes it knows common. He tends to be a rather intimidating person but less if they can't understand common and his Dwarven would no doubt be useless.

Alex looks at all the intimidation going on, and decides it looks like fun. He takes out a dagger and starts dancing it across his fingers. He takes out a second, a third, and starts juggling them, having their blades catch the sun as he whirls them in the air. You know how easy it would be to "accidentally" lose concentration and control? he asks the goblin?

Standing near the oxen, Raven watches the group, but more specifically he watches Surge shift forms again. He hadn't met a shifter before, but there was something that felt familiar about it. Another feeling that he couldn't place, like being hunted earlier. Today was certainly nothing like he had ever encountered on the farm. Of course, getting shot with arrows was an experience he would have been happy to live without.

Raven just nods to Tatiana and proceeds to move the cart off the road to a place where it can be somewhat hidden. He will encourage the oxen to move past the dead horses, talking with them constantly to keep them steady, then to where they want to stash the cart. Once there he will unhitch the oxen so they are free of the cart and get them settled. Raven will tell them to stay near the cart and hidden and that he should be back soon to fetch them.

He has his staff held tightly as he watches the forest around them for any signs of additional attackers. Things definitely were not going the way of a simple delivery of supplies.

Falling to the side of the trail then hurriedly righting himself before rushing forward to make up the time. "Going on, going on." He grumbles to himself and glares at Alex's daggers.

Before Surge or Ammos can try and help Alex get down he uses all his strength to pull his self up and swipe a dagger across the rope. Alex had hopes of holding on and then jumping down, but his grip slips and he falls to the ground unable to catch himself. Alex receives 2 bludgeoning damage. When he hits the ground. He is now prone but free.

Raven moves up to begin looking for the goblin's tracks, starting with the place where the sneaky goblin apparently pretended to fall to avoid the trap and then working from there to where they lost sight of him. As he does so, he makes a small gesture and speaks an arcane word, feeling nature's insight aiding him in his search.
"It might actually be easier to look for tracks from when they dragged the two missing men. We saw those at the road. That will be easier to spot than a single goblin."

You can also see where the goblin disappeared into the brush, he turned shortly after and headed in that north west direction as well. Seemingly the goblin is going in the same direction as the trail. He was just trying to get away from the group but had apparently been leading you the right way.

Raven quickly makes the magical gesture again as he scans the area. Everyone familiar with magic will notice by now that he is casting some kind of spell, most likely a cantrip as he looks for tracks.
"The goblin went through the brush and headed that way" pointing the same direction of the trail. "This looks like where they dragged Gundren"
The farmer starts to follow the trail, but he moves far to the left so he is not walking down the center. He continues talking, "Don't walk the middle, that is where most snares will be. Watch the trees, they may have hunting blinds setup."
Raven starts up the trail...

"I hesitate to say out loud what may be on some of your minds... The situation ahead of us has just changed." Ammos tries to stop the party from moving too far along as he speaks. "I believe we may need to hunt that escaped goblin... should it warn those that lay ahead we may find ourselves ambushed and outnumbered."

"Keep an eye out for ambushes and traps, do not rush into a fight, keep your head and see that the rest keep theirs." He is painfully aware that she is more capable than he is out here, but being the "older brother" he feels a need to at least appear in control

The goblin lives here, he can run without worry, while we have to find his tracks and look for other traps. He's running now while we talk. I doubt he will stop until he reaches his cave."

I am with the lupine one. We go together. We go now. I have some ears I promised I would collect. Alex moves up next to the the siblings The snooty one and the snouty one. I have to remember to use that sometime, when both are in better moods and likely not to immolate me in a fit of shared pique, he thinks, chuckling to himself he too starts gazing ahead, unwilling to take another enforced "leg-only" hammock trip into the trees.

As the decisions appear to veer towards staying together and maintaining the direction to the goblin nest, Tatiana asks, "How quickly can we track the goblin, versus following the trapped trail? If we are agreed that we will not catch the prisoner, it's reasonable to expect the lair to be on alert. I would prefer giving the beasts less time to prepare for our arrival."

With Raven and his tracking abilities in the lead, and Tatiana's assistance, the group travels quite quickly down the path. Raven you are able to see before anyone has any issues a large pit carved into the center of the trail. The pit is 6 feet wide, 10 feet deep, and it would trigger if something or someone stepped on it.

It only takes Alex a few moments before the whole of the pit is revealed as the top cover crumbles inside. The pit is now easy to see and avoid.

As they continue, Raven summons nature's blessing to help guide him. Although he has been in the forest most of his life, he usually does not have others relying on him and didn't usually have this many traps to deal with.
"They must not want visitors" he moves off slowly, more looking for traps than tracking as the trail is fairly obvious, but he does occasionally stop to confirm they are on the real trail that the goblins dragged the men.

Continuing along the goblins’ trail, you come across a clearing, to the north is a large cave mouth in the hillside. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth. The stream is screened on the far side by dense briar thickets and a narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream. You are on the opposite side of the stream from where the path leads into the cave.
