3 billion human lives ended on August 29th, 1997. The survivors of the nuclear fire called the war Judgment Day. They lived only to face a new nightmare, the war against the Machines...

Skynet, the computer which controlled the machines, sent many terminators back through time. Some were tasked to kill Sarah, John Connor and other members of the Human Resistance, at different time of their lives. Other terminators were tasked with equally important missions, such as ensuring the existence of Skynet, influence the timeline in Skynet's favors or prepare the coming of Judgement Day.

Each time, the Human Resistance was able to send operatives back to counter Skynet's plan. Some of them succeed, others failed.

Their tales were lost but not forgotten. This is the Tales of the Resistance...

2029, somewhere in Southern California. You are the new recruits of the famed 132nd Special Forces Unit, serving under the equally famed Major General Justin Perry. Everyone (except Tate) just arrived by truck to the 132nd secret base of operations. You are all summoned by Perry in 15 minutes for a mission briefing. Before the briefing, please tell us about your characters!

Maze Navona. Ex-Combat Pilot specialized in helicopters but anything flying as well on the ground. Tends to be a touch arrogant and strides around. Always wearing oversized sunglasses. If you needed a pilot for something dangerous, she is on the top of your list. And is fire shooter too. She is one to get the job done.

SGT Hanson hasn't been seen without his rifle since Judgement Day. He's no spring chicken, but his training was formal, courtesy of the United States Marine Corps. He served as a scout sniper, with a few deployments under his rigger's belt (and a few confirmed kills). He was stateside at Pendleton when everything went to shit. A lot of Marines died early on, but the overwhelming numbers were the only reason any of them survived.

Stephen fell in with the resistance, and has been shooting those damned robots in their CPUs ever since.

Alex was a young paramedic working crazy hours when Judgement Day changed everything. He tried to help as many of the survivors as he could, but there were just too many. He roamed around in the aftermath, directionless and alone. Eventually he synched up with a small band of scavengers, which was then recruited into The Resistance for reconnaissance patrols. The work is dangerous, but he’s grateful to have a sense of purpose again. He had just returned from a lengthy detail out in the mountains when he got the call from Major General Perry. ’Guess my leave will have to wait,’ he thinks to himself as he grabs his gear and loads into the truck.

T8 was one of Davis' more audacious projects. Perhaps even taking up the top spot in such a rating. An 'AI jailbreak', with priorities reset then overriden. A machine at a human's beck and call, and, whether by a quirk of the repurposing or by a default process of assigning secondary objectives, a bodyguard of sorts.

Charles Davis is a heavyset man that is pushing 50. Despite his age, he has shoulder length black hair that looks strangely healthy considering conditioner is a thing of the past. He was working as an intern in Cyberdyne Systems when Judgement Day happened. The guilt has been with him ever since. When he found the resistance he demanded that they take him in. They were not wrong to accept him, as he was able to reprogram a T-800. To this day his proudest accomplishment.

Two soldiers escort you all to the underground center of command and operations. Like many of the Resistance bases, this one is located in the sewer system of a completly destroyed city. While you walk inside the sewer's tunnels, you can't unsee the misery of the civilian population that is hiding in the tunnels. Those people are the "unlucky" ones. They didn't die with Judgement Day. They will probably die of starving, viruses or more likely, they will be killed by a Terminator sooner than later. You finally arrive at the main command room, which is guarded by another two heavily armed soldiers. They both salutes you, then the left one open the big steel door letting you in.

The Major General give you a straight military salute while you all get inside his office.
Quote:
Welcome to the Southern California theatre of operations soldiers! I'm Major General Perry, of the 132nd. Thank you for your quick answers. Lady and gentlemen, the Resistance need you. I need you all for a very dangerous mission...

Maze Navona holds the rank of a Chief Warrant Officer 5 (That is what her bars tell.) and paperwork says she has been reenlisted even that is muddled to this day. Still, she returns salutes. She is 132nd Special Forces Unit who needs her. (Uknown if that changes her army rank.)

Maze keeps a military stance there. Her walk earlier shows her to be rather arrogant. She still has her favored sunglasses on that she is known to wear 24/7. Some say it is her lucky ones. She gives a nod to Major General Perry after his intro.

She is sure that he knows who she is. Winning a battle usually accrues losses. Maze always returns. Known for dangerous tactics. Many that have served with her, their bodies haven't been found. Maze keeps no friends.

"Good morning, Sir," Hanson says, saluting. However... the days of standing at the position of attention until given permission to be at ease were a thing of the past. The Sergeant will immediately take in the room, checking for exits other than the one they entered. This may be one of the safest places left on the planet, but Hanson still keeps his rifle at a low ready.

Seeing the suffering of the civilians in the sewer tunnels makes Alex’s heart hurt, but also reminds him why he continues to fight. By the time they reach the command room, his resolve has been restored. He listens to the Major General’s introduction with the others who have been called up. "Ready for action, Sir. What is our mission?"

Charles stifles a yawn and nods at the Major General, though not being part of the rank and files he don't salute. He stands slouched in the back of the room, content to let one of the other do the talking for now. His left arm massages his neck as he waits for their new orders.

T8 stands next to Davis, half a step behind, constantly giving the room a slow scan - eyes only, without turning his head an inch. He hadn't salted nor even talked to anyone since entering the premises.

"Listen up, because I’m only going to say this once. What I’m about to tell you is classified, need-to-know. And right now, all of you need to know.
Three months ago, when Connor and his troops took down Skynet's Master Control, they discovered something that Skynet thought would make it win the war for good: a Time Displacement Equipment. Good news is that Connor and his men succeeded at twarthing Skynet's plan. Bad news, it was just a prototype. There is another one existing that is even more dangerous. 48 hours ago, our advanced recon team has located the second TDE.
Your mission is simple. You go in with the support of the advanced team, you secure the tech, or you blow it to hell. Failure is not an option. You’ve got a 12-hour window. Skynet’s long-range scanners will be down for maintenance—this is your only chance. If you miss it, don’t bother coming back, because Skynet will lock down the area tighter than a drum.

Make no mistake—this mission is critical. This tech is vital, it could tip the balance. If Skynet gets it online, there won’t be any more resistance. There won’t be anything. Humanity’s counting on you.

Any question before we jump into the details ?"

Maze asks, "Who will be briefing us on the location and expected complications." She does her best to try to ignore T8. Her feeling in the matter shows a bit.

"What kind of defenses can we expect from the machines, Sir?"
Oct 8, 2024 4:35 am
The brick in the back spoke up.

"Before going into details, it is appropriate to go through the overview of the mission parameters: an overview of the area of operations with positions of known and suspected enemy forces and means relevant for the mission, the enumeration of available of forces and means for this mission team, the available support from allied forces, including both the aforementioned support team and any other allied forces available in the general area of operations."
