3 billion human lives ended on August 29th, 1997. The survivors of the nuclear fire called the war Judgment Day. They lived only to face a new nightmare, the war against the Machines...
Skynet, the computer which controlled the machines, sent many terminators back through time. Some were tasked to kill Sarah, John Connor and other members of the Human Resistance, at different time of their lives. Other terminators were tasked with equally important missions, such as ensuring the existence of Skynet, influence the timeline in Skynet's favors or prepare the coming of Judgement Day.
Each time, the Human Resistance was able to send operatives back to counter Skynet's plan. Some of them succeed, others failed.
Their tales were lost but not forgotten. This is the Tales of the Resistance...

2029, somewhere in Southern California. You are the new recruits of the famed 132nd Special Forces Unit, serving under the equally famed Major General Justin Perry. Everyone (except Tate) just arrived by truck to the 132nd secret base of operations. You are all summoned by Perry in 15 minutes for a mission briefing. Before the briefing, please tell us about your characters!

Maze Navona. Ex-Combat Pilot specialized in helicopters but anything flying as well on the ground. Tends to be a touch arrogant and strides around. Always wearing oversized sunglasses. If you needed a pilot for something dangerous, she is on the top of your list. And is fire shooter too. She is one to get the job done.

SGT Hanson hasn't been seen without his rifle since Judgement Day. He's no spring chicken, but his training was formal, courtesy of the United States Marine Corps. He served as a scout sniper, with a few deployments under his rigger's belt (and a few confirmed kills). He was stateside at Pendleton when everything went to shit. A lot of Marines died early on, but the overwhelming numbers were the only reason any of them survived.
Stephen fell in with the resistance, and has been shooting those damned robots in their CPUs ever since.

Alex was a young paramedic working crazy hours when Judgement Day changed everything. He tried to help as many of the survivors as he could, but there were just too many. He roamed around in the aftermath, directionless and alone. Eventually he synched up with a small band of scavengers, which was then recruited into The Resistance for reconnaissance patrols. The work is dangerous, but he’s grateful to have a sense of purpose again. He had just returned from a lengthy detail out in the mountains when he got the call from Major General Perry. ’Guess my leave will have to wait,’ he thinks to himself as he grabs his gear and loads into the truck.

T8 was one of Davis' more audacious projects. Perhaps even taking up the top spot in such a rating. An 'AI jailbreak', with priorities reset then overriden. A machine at a human's beck and call, and, whether by a quirk of the repurposing or by a default process of assigning secondary objectives, a bodyguard of sorts.

Charles Davis is a heavyset man that is pushing 50. Despite his age, he has shoulder length black hair that looks strangely healthy considering conditioner is a thing of the past. He was working as an intern in Cyberdyne Systems when Judgement Day happened. The guilt has been with him ever since. When he found the resistance he demanded that they take him in. They were not wrong to accept him, as he was able to reprogram a T-800. To this day his proudest accomplishment.

Two soldiers escort you all to the underground center of command and operations. Like many of the Resistance bases, this one is located in the sewer system of a completly destroyed city. While you walk inside the sewer's tunnels, you can't unsee the misery of the civilian population that is hiding in the tunnels. Those people are the "unlucky" ones. They didn't die with Judgement Day. They will probably die of starving, viruses or more likely, they will be killed by a Terminator sooner than later. You finally arrive at the main command room, which is guarded by another two heavily armed soldiers. They both salutes you, then the left one open the big steel door letting you in.
Oct 4, 2024 6:00 pm
The Major General give you a straight military salute while you all get inside his office.
Quote:
Welcome to the Southern California theatre of operations soldiers! I'm Major General Perry, of the 132nd. Thank you for your quick answers. Lady and gentlemen, the Resistance need you. I need you all for a very dangerous mission...Oct 4, 2024 8:52 pm
Maze Navona holds the rank of a Chief Warrant Officer 5 (That is what her bars tell.) and paperwork says she has been reenlisted even that is muddled to this day. Still, she returns salutes. She is 132nd Special Forces Unit who needs her. (Uknown if that changes her army rank.)
Maze keeps a military stance there. Her walk earlier shows her to be rather arrogant. She still has her favored sunglasses on that she is known to wear 24/7. Some say it is her lucky ones. She gives a nod to Major General Perry after his intro.
She is sure that he knows who she is. Winning a battle usually accrues losses. Maze always returns. Known for dangerous tactics. Many that have served with her, their bodies haven't been found. Maze keeps no friends.

"Good morning, Sir," Hanson says, saluting. However... the days of standing at the position of attention until given permission to be at ease were a thing of the past. The Sergeant will immediately take in the room, checking for exits other than the one they entered. This may be one of the safest places left on the planet, but Hanson still keeps his rifle at a low ready.
Oct 6, 2024 4:09 pm
Seeing the suffering of the civilians in the sewer tunnels makes Alex’s heart hurt, but also reminds him why he continues to fight. By the time they reach the command room, his resolve has been restored. He listens to the Major General’s introduction with the others who have been called up. "Ready for action, Sir. What is our mission?"
Oct 7, 2024 10:37 am
Charles stifles a yawn and nods at the Major General, though not being part of the rank and files he don't salute. He stands slouched in the back of the room, content to let one of the other do the talking for now. His left arm massages his neck as he waits for their new orders.
Oct 7, 2024 10:41 am
T8 stands next to Davis, half a step behind, constantly giving the room a slow scan - eyes only, without turning his head an inch. He hadn't salted nor even talked to anyone since entering the premises.

"Listen up, because I’m only going to say this once. What I’m about to tell you is classified, need-to-know. And right now, all of you need to know.
Three months ago, when Connor and his troops took down Skynet's Master Control, they discovered something that Skynet thought would make it win the war for good: a Time Displacement Equipment. Good news is that Connor and his men succeeded at twarthing Skynet's plan. Bad news, it was just a prototype. There is another one existing that is even more dangerous. 48 hours ago, our advanced recon team has located the second TDE.
Your mission is simple. You go in with the support of the advanced team, you secure the tech, or you blow it to hell. Failure is not an option. You’ve got a 12-hour window. Skynet’s long-range scanners will be down for maintenance—this is your only chance. If you miss it, don’t bother coming back, because Skynet will lock down the area tighter than a drum.
Make no mistake—this mission is critical. This tech is vital, it could tip the balance. If Skynet gets it online, there won’t be any more resistance. There won’t be anything. Humanity’s counting on you.
Any question before we jump into the details ?"

Charles eyes widen. What could he do with that equipment if he could get his hands on it. They had to secure it, not destroy it. He remains silent as the rest ask their questions, contemplating the potential ability to 'reprogram' the past.

Perry unroll an old map of Southern California and spread it on the big table in the middle of the office. Come get a closer look. We are here *points our position on the map* and you must go there *points again*. Chief Warrant Officer Navona gonna pilot the group in a Huey chopper. There, you will make contact with the advanced team. You will then enter the facility and look for the TDE. Once you find it, Mr. Davis here gonna evaluate the TDE and make the decision. You fly, you walk, you search. Easy? Not really. Even if Skynet's longe-range scanners are down for maintenance, there will still be some protection around the facility. According to the preliminary reports, we are talking about 2X HK-Tanks patrolling the greater perimeter in a circular pattern. Inside the perimeter there is between 6 and 8 T-800 that are also moving around the building. For whats inside it, we can't tell, cause nobody went in yet. We would'nt compromise the safety of the recon team. You leave at dawn, so go get some rest and we will talk later before you leave. Understood?
Oct 8, 2024 5:35 pm
T8 looked at the map.
"Briefing acknowledged. Given the priority of the objective and the expected opposing force, for best odds of success it is recommended that you allow the team to requisition a phased plasma cannon that you can afford to lose if this mission is a success. Barring that, another heavy anti-armour weapon is highly recommended, plus whatever other members of the force can bring to bear against heavy chassises, such as canister charges.
Strip the Huey of everything that's not of immediate use. Even with the main sensor arrays down, it is not going to be unnoticed, and once spotted, it will not be allowed to take off ever again, even if we engage and defeat the main guard force: expect a beyond-visual-range artillery and other weaponry to shell the landing area in minutes and turn the craft no longer airworthy. Regardless of mission outcome, the odds of exfiltration are difficult to calculate, but would be very pessimistic. If you have any pharmaceuticals suitable for enhancing performance relevant to the mission, it is optimal to hand them out to the people involved, as the benefits would outweigh the aftermath.
And while people are resting, I can engage in further preparations. That is, assuming Mr. Davis is willing to proceed," T8 looked at the programmer, evaluating his reaction.

Maze is surprised Major General Justin Perry himself leads the briefing. She so much expected someone of lesser rank. Although it seems the General is well informed.
Tactical her is immediately studying the map for their approach. She views it for the means to get there without their presence being noticed well as where they may park that huey as would be so much nicer than their way back on foot. But she too looks over that option as well. Maze always returns.
The more she thinks about it, she asks, "With only 5 of us and not a full platoon, wouldn't a "Little Bird" with less a profile, faster, & quieter be better?"

Charles has no head for tactics or how to approach. He keeps silent, not adding one more voice to the chorus. He'll just let the rest lay out the plan, and then follow it as best he could. That's how he's survived so far.
Oct 9, 2024 2:09 pm
SGT Hanson will look over the map, searching for elevated spots, covered approach routes, anything he can use to employ his skillset to maximum efficiency.

"I'm sorry, but we don't have any of these weapons or chopper. The last offensive by Connor took a lot from our ressources. The idea is of a stealth mission with a small team going through the defensive net of this building. Also, speaking of exfiltration, we already took care of this part. Don't worry about it. Anything else ?"

"If stealth fails, there seems to be not enough of a contingency; no plan B to speak of. Given the stated importance of this objective, and how unacceptable failure is, this is careless, and unnecessarily diminishes the odds of success," he glances at the programmer again.
Oct 16, 2024 6:18 pm
Hanson cocks his head at the unit. "Then it gets a whole lot louder," he replies. "The mission doesn't change if stealth fails. Sounds like falling back isn't an option due to time constraints (no pun intended), and it seems unlikely we have the manpower for a meaningful distraction. We succeed, or die trying."

After a not so good meal and a not so good sleep, you all wake up as you get ready for the incoming mission. You grab all the necessary gear as a old runned down military transport truck moves you to a old airplane hangar situated at the edge of the base. There, Major General Perry awaits for you with all of his senior staff. When you arrive near by them, you see the Huey chopper getting readied by the hangar crew. As you get out of the truck, you can see a nice surprise installed on the left side of the side door of the chopper: a M134 Minigun.
Oct 21, 2024 1:20 pm
T8 silently approaches the helicopter, detaches the ammo belt from the weapon, ensures it is empty, quickly runs a superficial check of all the components, then returns the weapon to the state it was in, and turns to the rest of the team. "Good. This improves our odds if a firefight breaks out."
Oct 21, 2024 1:29 pm
Charles shambles in after 'Tate', one hand scratching his head while he tries to stifle a yawn. Too damn early he thinks. "Let's hope we won't need it," he says seeing the minigun.
Oct 21, 2024 2:40 pm
Pilot Maze notes, "If we get in a firefight, this Huey isn't what I would want to be in. With hope this is safe trip. " as she takes a moment to look over the Huey.
Oct 21, 2024 3:05 pm
"Oh c'mon ma'am. These things were absolute workhorses during 'Nam. The Army used the hell out of them in combat," Hanson says, slapping the tail as he walks up to the bird. "It's no warthog, but I'm not complaining."
Oct 21, 2024 3:59 pm
Maze half laughs, "Huey. Squad transport copter. Not for fire fare. It will get us there. " She can think of another helicopter she would much rather be in. Maze didn't get her bars from flying transports.

Hanson laughs himself. "Did you not study your history, ma'am? Hueys were used in 'Nam for medevac and troop transport, yes, but they were also used as troop support and as gunships for direct enemy engagement. If you think it's just a "squad transport copter," you're sorely mistaken. Ma'am."
Oct 21, 2024 4:49 pm
Maze retorts back, "Who do you think you are. I have flown more missions than you have even heard of. The more modern Black Hawks are the choice now over the Huey. "
Oct 21, 2024 5:03 pm
"Someone who knows their military history. I can wipe my ass with your hours flown. All your missions were, were flying the real military in to get the job done.
The fact Blackhawks were the new replacement for Hueys doesn't magically mean Hueys were only ever used for troop transport. 'Nam officially ended in '75, Blackhawks weren't put into service until '79. Until that point, Hueys did everything. Get over it."
Since the Marines still use Hueys -- the Twin Huey up until 2014 (so in game, up until Judgement Day -- and IRL the Super Huey from then till current -- my character is a bit proud/defensive of Hueys.

Regarding the Huey during Vietnam.
Here's a relevant passage:
Quote:
As the Vietnam War raged, the Army integrated the helicopter into its wider operations and expanded the platform's role far beyond medevac. The Huey was relied upon to "do anything a horse could do" and subsequently evolved from a tool for troop and supply transport to include direct combat gun support. Even the basic AI overview on Google says this:
Quote:
The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, also known as the Huey, was used in combat in many conflicts, including the Vietnam War, Grenada, Operation Desert Storm, and Bosnia. The Huey was used in a variety of ways, including:Troop transport: The Huey was used to transport troops and supplies into and out of key strategic positions.
Medevac: The Huey was used to transport medical attention and evacuate soldiers.

I’m down for continuing the story. Chalk it up to minor disagreement. No need to let it derail the whole game before t even gets started.Oct 23, 2024 12:47 pm
Hi guys! Just wanted to tell you that after having tought about it and since the recent events, I've decided to close all of my games on here and closing my account. You all seem to be very good people and good players, but I think that Gamersplane is not really for me. Again, i'm really sorry about that. My recent experience made me doubt a lot about my GM skills and how I work games.
