[closed]: 1to1 play your class

We have all played in a game where the core of your character has been sidelined due to the overarching plot. The druid who's swor to protect the valley is now plane-jumping around hunting down a power crystal for a magical wand. Or the righteous paladin, making deals with the thieves guild. Or the cleric, whose god becomes a sidenote. This is exactly what I don't want to do.

My idea is to play a one-on-one game, where we follow one character, who gets their class, advances through it and what happens during that time.
How did the character become a warlock?
What happened when the sorcerer gained mastery of new 2nd-level spells?
Why did goblins become the Rangers favorite foe?
How did the tiefling become a master of the elven magic tradition of Bladesinging?
Questions like these are what I would like to explore.

So I suggest the following:
Frequency: 1 post per day
System: A class system like D&D 5e
Setting: Whatever we like.
Duration: As long as we are both having fun
Both of us will be GM'ing for each other's characters
We will frequently discuss the story direction, and what kinds of challenges, setbacks or scenes we would like to have with the character. I have zero plot ideas right now. The story is centred around the character.

Is this something that you think could be fun?

I like this.

Do you know A5E? It has a full SRD. That would be my preferred D&D version.

I would prefer full fantasy, at least for my character.

Yes, that sounds like great fun. A class that has so much potential that is never used is the warlock. This would be a great way to connect in RP with the patron. And in more than them being a quest giver.

An interesting idea. I have been thinking about "uncommon" rpg group setups a lot lately. Relay campaigns and multi GM games etc. Do you plan on playing a bunch of these in parallel? Maybe we could set up a sort of hub for people interested in something like that, where they can pair up.

My priority goes to the thread starter as common courtesy, but if that does not work, I'm interested in others' ideas as well.

My system preference, in this order:
* A5E
* D&D Beyond (5.5e or whatever)
* D&D 5e
* Pathfinder 1e
* D&D 3.5e

I have found I quite like 1-on-1s and I've once played in a 1-on-1 with a fairly similar idea here on GP. It's a really nice idea. I'll pass since I'm not too much of a D&D person, but I like seeing something like this.

My thoughts exactly - lets try it out

I would also be interested in this idea. I will say D&D is the only system mentioned so far that I know well enough to run, but I'd the idea is more story based (vs. mechanics) I do know Fate pretty well and could (and would enjoy) that system.

So if someone else wants to pair off, let me know.

Interested in this, with the OP or whoever else wants to team up.

D&D 5E is the only system I'm really experienced in. Have some brief online DMing experience, but I'm not a mechanics savant.

I would be interested in this too. Really being able to get in depth with a character. D&D 5e is the only system I've dm'd.

Thx for the interest. Its good so see that I'm not the only one likes this idea. I found a player, a brand new player to the site, no less, and we are off to a good start.
