It started after the stars fell. Sickly green they were and burning with a pale flame. We didn't understand the portents until it was too late. After that, the dead rose from their graves, and the newly dead didn't stay still for long. After a few hours, the newly dead would rise, hungry for the flesh of the living. The long-dead didn't try to consume the living but instead sought to snuff out any life they came across. The foul creatures formed vast herds and swept over the countryside, destroying everything in their path. As time passed, the foul magic that created them caused them to mutate. We, the wizards who are left, believe that mutations are caused by the lives they take. Regardless, the dead become more potent if they kill the living. After a few months, the weaker dead crumble and fall apart, while the stronger dead become more clever and deadly. I don't know how many are left in this country or if the world has been affected. We are cut off from everyone, and the capital has fallen. None are safe here! I am leaving my tower to seek shelter in a place I've heard is safe. It's in the Shaglath forest on the border of our neighboring country, and I hear the way is less infested, and the forest has been cleared. I've tried scrying, but I see nothing but haze and trees. This is a good sign. Another wizard, perhaps, is blocking my view. Should you seek me out, know that I have moved on from this accursed place. May the gods have mercy on our souls.

The game occurs in a fantasy world where the dead rise and feast on the living after a meteor shower. Players will be survivors in a camp in the Shaglath forest. As the game goes on, you'll learn about the events that caused this plague of undeath. The game will be 50% open and 50% fixed, with particular events happening regardless of your chosen path. The game will span 3-4 levels but can go on longer. This isn't a game where you play champions of the world, face down "unbeatable" enemies, and succeed in saving the planet. The object of the game is to survive and thrive rather than defeat a big boss and end the plague.

> Triggers: decomposing bodies, death, undeath, cannibalism, dismemberment

> Character Options: Humans are the most common race, but you can choose others if your concept fits. All classes and alignments are available. My biggest focus is sticking true to the concept and telling a good story.

> Game Details: Pathfinder 1e

> Game Length & Posting Requirements: 3/week would be good; The game will last at least 3-4 levels before the main story elements wrap up. After that, we can figure out what comes next.

> Application: Name, class details, race details, physical and mental traits, and a concept of your character and what you want for them. I'll pick the best characters for the game.

> Number of Players: 5

What level will PCs start at?

Yaoboleth, Aether Kineticist, Ferocious Human Male, awakened from stasis and divine touch traits, a legendary healer and ascetic who claims to come from a higher plane to save and teach what humans remain a better way. He was literally created to restore the balance. He needs powerful allies to fulfil his reason to exist. However, he keeps his immense power hidden, knowing people will die if they get overconfident and overreliant on his healing.

He has immense athletic capability and superhuman agility.
His healing power is limited only by how much nonlethal damage the party can take. He is a glass cannon but capable of dealing immense single target damage.

He has survived because he doesnt bother with the undead unless he absolutely must. He would prefer to run.

It's been a while since I've played Pathfinder, but 1e would be my cup of tea.

Here I go.

Name: Solenne Ravengard
Class: Inquisitor (Sanctified Slayer archetype)
Inquisition: True Death
Race: Aasimar (modified with the Halo and Deathless abilities)

Physical and Mental Traits:
Solenne stands at an imposing 5'10", her figure a blend of celestial grace and a warrior’s strength. Her pale, ethereal skin glows softly in dim light, an effect amplified by the faint halo that shimmers around her head, a manifestation of her divine heritage. Raven-black hair frames a face both beautiful and stern, with piercing copper eyes that reflect an unyielding resolve. Her expression is often calm but intense, revealing the weight of her duties as a hunter of the supernatural. Mentally, Solenne is a mix of devotion and practicality; she views her mission with a grim determination, guided by a strong moral compass. However, her focus on combating darkness sometimes makes her appear aloof or severe, as she struggles with the fear that the horrors she confronts could eventually taint her own soul.

Character Concept and Goals:
Solenne Ravengard is an Inquisitor of the Midnight Vigil, an order dedicated to purging the world of eldritch horrors, undead, and malevolent forces. I also see her as being cut off from her order because of current happenings, so she is very much on her own and isolated. Her celestial blood gives her an inherent resilience to death's grasp, making her the vanguard against the terrors that lurk in the shadows. In this campaign, I want to explore Solenne’s internal conflict—her efforts to uphold her divine nature while battling the encroaching darkness. Will she remain a beacon of light, or will the grim realities of her duty force her into moral compromise? I’m looking forward to developing her relationships with other characters and seeing how her faith and sense of duty evolve in the face of the unforgiving world around her.
