1-on-1 gaming

What kind of games are you interested in as a player?
What kind of games can you offer as a GM?

I have no experience GMing, except for solo-play if that counts. But I have been thinking about getting in to it for a while now, so I would be willing to give mutual GMing a shot.

Right now I think I would mostly be interested in some sort of hearth-fantasy fairy tale kind of setting. Less epic quests and grizzled veterans and more of kids getting dragged in to their first adventure. Basically Brothers Grimm rather than Tolkien or Howard.

Probably my favorite game, both as a system and setting(generator), would be Beyond the Wall. I don't think it has a free SRD floating around though.

I have also had Shadow and Fae 2e sitting on my hard drive for a while and would love to try it out. It is PWYW, but does not provide setting information other than what is implied by the Tales(classes) and the artwork, not even a default list of monsters.

SWADE is somewhere on my bookshelf, but I am not super fond of it. Played a lot of it solo though, so I know it fairly well.

FATE always kind of interested me, but I am even less confident in GMing that as I have never played it or anything like it.

Finally I am always open to experimenting with some minimalist/FKR kind of approach.

I'm interested in mutual GMing Fate games! I hadn't considered the possibility before, but I wanna try it!

This sounds fun and am throwing my hat in the ring. As for the listed systems I would prefer Level Up 5e, Warrior Rogue & Mage (no experience but willing to dig into this), or preferably Fate as I have yet to have a game with it that really got to fully use it (never GMed). Also familiar s DM with D&D 5e 3.5, I came likely manage Pathfinder 1, and have played SWADE.
As an alternative option I suggest the TinyD6 system as it's simplified mechanics promotes more creativity and flexibility. Unfortunately though I don't know of an SRD or open license for it.

Yeah, I'd also be interested in participating in this.

What I'd like to play: Not sure off the top of my head. I'd probably be good with whatever you suggested.

What I could GM for: I've been gaming for a long time, so I'm very comfortable in the GM seat. The systems I know best include: D&D 5e, D&D 4e, D&D3.5e, Fate, NWoD (Changeling and Vampire only), Vampire 5e & Marvel Multiverse. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones I could run at any time.

Sheesh. You don't make my decision easy.

BtW rang a bell, and after checking my stuff I found it with half a dozen expansions! I could GM Fate for you to get some experience.

As simple as your post is, it's straightforward and really attractive for me. Fate for Fate is sweet.

I don't like too minimalistic rule systems, and I don't have TinyD6, so I'll pass on that. However, Fate, Level Up 5e and Pathfinder are all very enticing.

I'll have to sleep on this. I've gone active on a couple of pbp sites recently, and many games are in the might-start-might-not state, so unfortunately I can't do this with all four of you :(

I love the idea of GMing for each other, and I'd be excited to get more experience in a solo game. I've done solo sessions before as part of a group campaign, and I'm playing in a solo game right now, but I've not run a full solo campaign.

I have a lot of experience with PbtA systems, especially Avatar Legends, and I can be very flexible to match your interest. I also have experience running lasers and feelings, monster of the week, and roll for shoes, and I'm happy to pick up anything else you might be interested in. I have played DnD 5e, World of Dungeons, World of Darkness, and Cthulhu Dark as well, so I can choose a system that matches the kind of story you want to tell. I enjoy narrative decisions and mechanical games that emphasize in-character choices that matter. I have a pretty good amount of experience GMing irl and pbp, so I am confident that I can make a game that will be engaging and keep moving forward.

As a player, I enjoy collaborative games that allow me to share narrative control to some extent. I dislike when mechanics prevent me from doing the cool thing I have in mind- I much prefer success at a cost or with a complication. I enjoy being powerful and in control of my own actions, and I don't love dialogue.

I did not see that the OP was already overwhelmed with game offers. I'll keep my hat in the ring just because I think I'm the most narrative, rules light option here and that diversity is always good. However, I'm still very open to playing with any of the others here under any arrangement.

No I don't have d&d 2024 yet.

For reason of variety, I'll choose Fate for Fate now, as I'm in quite a few other games at different pbp sites.
