Public Character Sheets Become Private

My red books keep turning gray, and this morning I was pretty sure it wasn’t random. It’s mostly happening to my newest character… the one I keep editing.

So, I ran a test.

Here’s Grace. She has a red book.


I typed TEST in her character sheet.


I saved.


And when I looked at my character list, Grace’s book was gray!


I turned it red, but of course it became gray again when I went back to delete the word "TEST."

I can confirm that this is happening for me too. I had not edited any characters since the update.

I just noticed it happened to me too. I did a test and it does seem to be the character sheet save (I used Save and Exit) button doing it.
It's also happening when I change something in a fillable field inside the game forum/threads. After changing a field, the viewing permission of the sheet turns to grey.

It's happened to me also! As TheGenerator explained.

Ah, that explains why my GM character’s book was gray. I keep track of players’ HP and MP-equivalent using fillable fields.

I have the same issue with one of mine, Glittlyn Zickleseckle. Marked public but not viewable by other players

Hm... I definitely fixed that bug back in Oct. I'll look into it again.

Thanks, Had a player who said they could not get to the sheet via character name from game post. They can get there now via direct link at least, having them check other means again to verify any issue

Players can not click on names to the left of posts. They should be able to use the Characters menu on the bottom red bar.

Was that posted using an NPC tag rather than "post as character"?

Yes, because the post isn't linked to the character. Let's say the player had two characters and posted using the NPC tag, which sheet would it link to? It's the posting as character that makes the name linked to the sheet.

I can click on the avatar image of the character and get to the sheet, but the name remains unclickable.

Unlike my own character, where I can click on either the name or the avatar.

Dunno if this is standard for everyone or bonkers.

Can you show a screen shot? That may be unintended functionality.

This is just personal experience. I do not recall being able to click on the character name for PCs not under my control. I can click on the avatar, and that will either take me to the character sheet if it's made public, or display "Not Found" if it's set private. My own character posts are clickable by name and avatar, yes.

In the example above, does clicking on either the avatar to the left or the URL supplied by the player work?

Just checked and in games i an a player I get the same behavior, avatar or character menu work. In games I DM the character name is also viable
