Other Tidbits

Gods: We'll be using the Forgotten Realms pantheon, as well as the non-human deities listed in the core books.

Calendar: To keep things simple, we'll be using the real-life calendar (January-December), with 2024 dates. In game, your adventure will take place in year 1788 of the Elthiran calendar. The specific start date of our adventure will be Monday, June 3rd.

Prices and Currency: Prices will, for the most part, reflect what's listed in the D&D core books. Per RAW, copper, silver, and gold will be the primary coins used, with electrum and platinum being rarer.

XP: You'll be gaining experience via milestone leveling. Expect to level up after accomplishing a major goal, or after accomplishing several minor ones.

Character Creation: You start at Level 1, with whatever gold/equipment your choices have given you.

Resting: I'm going to copy the system used in Baldur's Gate 3: two short rests per long rest. This prevents spamming of short rests and increases tension.

Weight/Encumbrance: I'm not too concerned with this. Obviously you can't carry an entire warehouse of items on your back, but I'm not going to nitpick you if you're a few pounds over.

Eating and Drinking: Again, not too concerned with this. Pack some rations and you should be good. If you run out, become a hunter or gatherer.

Initiative: Rather than have enemies of the same type share an initiative roll, I'll be rolling separate initiative for each one. I believe this gives combat a more realistic feel.

Death: If you die, you can create a new character. The new character will have the same level as your old one. No gear or items will be transferred over. We'll find some way to insert you back into the story.

If there's a TPK, everyone can create new characters. Your old characters will enter the lore of the story, and any task they were trying to accomplish will have a major setback.

Flanking/Cover: Both will be used, by players and enemies alike.

My Rolls: For transparency's sake, I'll be showing most of my DM rolls. I say "most" because a situation may occur where showing a roll would hurt the story. I actually doubt I'll ever need to hide rolls, but mentioning the possibility just in case.

Potions: During combat, you can consume potions using a bonus action.

Will add more if needed....
