The lay of the land at Ragnar's is much like Rick's. Obviously.
The building is large, two stories tall but with high ceilings on the first floor. The walls are made of white plaster, which are washed most mornings to keep the place clean-looking outside. There are a set of heavy old rounded arched wooden doors in front, with a big wooden sign above it that says "Ragnar's Taproom and Inn" painted beautifully in gold. Outside there are a few tables and chairs, and some nice plants.
Inside there's an expansive main lobby, with about twenty tables in the open and a dozen more tables and booths in relative seclusion or privacy around the thick pillars that hold up the mezzanine, which runs around the left side and the back of the taproom. There's a large turning staircase at the back, and a long bar along the right wall. The ceilings in the main room are about 15 feet tall. There's some high windows that look out to the street, with some well-kept foliage just outside.
In the middle of the taproom there's a circular stage, with a few benches and chairs for a band that plays here. The band includes a drummer, a fiddler, a flutist, and a lute player. They attract a lot of customers, as they give Ragnar's a good reputation. They can rile the patrons to a frenzy sometimes.
A few doors lead into auxiliary rooms in the back and to the sides. Behind the bar there's a door that leads into a hallway. This hallway connects to the storeroom, the cellar, the kitchen, Ragnar's office, the back of the taproom, and out into the street on the right side of the building.
Another set of doors in the back leads to a gambling room. The doors are made of thick iron, and guarded by a gigantic half-orc named Ditch. Gambling isn't illegal, but for a place like Ragnar's to house games of chance brings business away from more unsavory types who run similar operations, and so the gamblers are protected in the back. Ragnar himself performs a loose screening on everyone that goes in. Every now and again, a heavy chunk of change gets moved around back there.
The last door in the back leads to the kitchen. The head cook is an elf named Arnegir.
Upstairs there's a half a dozen rooms that look out on the taproom. A hallway leads further inward and has another half a dozen rooms. The rooms are well-kept by chamber maids appointed to them.
Outside there trees all round the sides of the building. There are second-floor balconies between them, and stairs leading up to some. There is a cellar door built into the cobblestones on the right side of the building.
