When Brainiac ran Pathfinder’s Fist of the Ruby Phoenix, I played my first (and so far only) character to reach Level 20. She was Hotcha Pom-Pom Pomegranate Twinkletoes, and she was f***ing awesome. Despite playing a five inch tall sprite with a dumb name, I was geeking out over Ruby Phoenix. It was martial-artsy, and had an eastern feel. You didn’t have to kill opponents until after the bad guys committed mass murder—but you could spare people in a regular fight, and generally opponents were gracious in defeat. (Or victory; we lost once.)
Point is, I had such a love for this campaign—and
Brainiac deserves credit for that—I felt inspired to draw the team (once) and my own character (several times). Some drawings had Hotcha taking on video game fighters, including the Smash Bros. final boss, MASTER HAND and the secret boss, CRAZY HAND.
@Qralloq, since you said you never played Mario Kart, I wonder if you also managed to avoid Smash Bros. At any rate, Masher Hand is based on Master Hand. And Jigglypalm’s name is derived from the Pokémon character Jigglypuff, but it’s basically Crazy Hand.
(You earned the extra boss by keeping everyone’s HP above 5 upon AC’s defeat. So now the final boss has double the health and double the attack power. Uh… congrats?)
The behaviors of each hand are based on which operates the buttons, and which operates the joystick.
