Hi gang!

Halloween is right around the corner, so I have been thinking about starting a horror genre type game. I settled on Monsters and Other Childish Things as my game. I am inviting anyone interested in trying to wrangle an other-dimensional nightmare to play. Just because I mentioned Halloween doesn't mean the terror will end when the jack'o'lanterns rot away. If everyone is interested this can be a long term campaign.

The premise is this...

====================
A band new exciting and very popular game app has gone into beta and your home town is the proving grounds. The game is called Skrimslimon EXPLORE! In that game you are paired with a skrimslimon you create to explore the augmented reality that Enani Corp. has created in a digital space parallel to our world. You and your partner will go out and walk around your town to discover virtual treasure caches and claim territory for your Skrimslimon Wrangler Guild. But, if you happen to have the real life money to spend, you can just buy all the power ups and cool hats you want.

Sounds great, RIGHT!? It is!

...Until you wake up in the middle of the night with your skrimslimon perched on the foot of your bed having freshly clawed it's way out of that other...supposedly completely digital...reality. And it seems you(and some of your friends) are the only ones who have this issue.
====================

So yes, this was inspired by Pokemon GO! According to the internet skrimsli is the Icelandic word for monster...so this game has monster-monsters in it, instead of Pocket Monsters. I have been thinking of a way to incorporate the phenomena of Pokemon GO! into a game and finally found my story.

Who wants to play? M&OCT is a very simple game using dice pools of d10s and looking for high pairs or better. I am giving access to the rules, and can teach on the go, so noobies are welcome.

Not to mention you get to control wicked cool giant monsters as they rip each other to shreds and investigate dark and disturbing mysteries!

I love ORE games, or rather, I love the couple of games that I have that are ORE. I wish I could juggle more games, because M&OCT has a special place in my heart. Have fun with it!!

This sounds like tons of fun! But I'm unfamiliar with the system and I don't know if I have the headspace to learn a new one right now unless it's incredibly easy to learn.

On my first read through the game seemed complicated, but the player side is pretty simple. Characters are built by point buy. There are 5 stats and 3 skills per stat. Spend your points and create a little backstory about your kid and you are done. Your monster is slightly more complicated but there is an easy to use menu of options included in the book if you need them. Or you could tell me what you want and i can make suggestions. Honestly, with the monsters, if you can imagine it, the rules can accomodate it.

But i also get not having the time or headspace for more games. It was a factor for me when deciding to start this one.
