https://i.imgur.com/OYBDchM.jpegA little slow getting to this thread! Apologies, all!

In the mix so far:

1. Imperial Moon Base not showing up on the map.
2. Ado Thorsh, Imperial Scientist and a massive blow to the Empire if captured.
3. Karrak, a force-suppressant used to capture and kill Jedi.
4. Aurelian Sword Smugglers, a pirate band suspected of operating within the area.
5. ?

Rolls

You actually have coordinates to the site. It’s just that they are showing the base at a place where no moon or planet exists! You could ask the Force what that means! Might be a fun answer!
Dec 31, 2024 2:43 pm
That sounds like an invitation to make the first roll in this game! I shall use the Force!
Dec 31, 2024 4:18 pm
Looking forward to seeing how that manifests in a Borg game!

Hss’kas feels a wrongness. He knows the moon doesn’t belong in this system. But he doesn’t feel an overwhelming presence of Karrak! He can use his powers… if he dares!

The scene is set, and a dice roll awaits. The atmosphere outside will prove tricky. Any bounty hunters with a special helmet won’t have to roll the same roll as the rest.

Doesn’t make sense for the droids to suffer from atmosphere issues either, right? Sorry, organics!

(Failure will simply impose disadvantage on future rolls in the room. You won’t get sucked out into space.)

Couple have things have happened so far:

You got sent on this mission to acquire Amado Thorsh. She’s sent a distress signal and the Imperials are on their way. You arrived, and Hss’kas sensed that something was very wrong with the placement of this moon. As if it had been hurled through space…

You arrived, and the shields were down. The pirates, whom you thought to barter with anyway, had already made their way to the base. It’s in their system and they probably heard the distress signal. They’re up against the clock too. They must be somewhere deeper inside.

A moon cat tried to take Knibbec for a snack, and now Plok stands talking with the pirates while the others figure out a way to advance.

Hss’kas is cutting through a door, while AC-D3 tries to apprehend a fast moving mouse droid!

Sounds about right!

I rolled the same encounter twice, which means… Imperials arrive! And you are in the second room! It’s going to be a race to Ado and back to the ship! There’ll certainly be a fight on the way out!
Jan 28, 2025 6:57 am
Harrigan says:
Plok, who had been unceremoniously pushed out of the negotiation seat by rude taller races and droids, sniggers at Knibbec's comment.
More likely because Plok can't speak intelligibly!

Spoken like a tall lizard who has it in for short, handsome, droidist aliens!

Destiny is recovered once you’ve had a chance to rest! You’d roll a 1d2 to get some back!
Feb 3, 2025 1:12 pm
They have blasters, plural? We barely have one to share among five of us!

Maybe that's so when we loot their bodies, we all get blasters! An opportunity will present itself ...

* Stand by I have an angle on blasters.

With the swingness of a D20, fighting both Imperials and Pirates simultaneously can go incredibly wrong, incredibly quickly. Or not! Pray to the dice gods! =DD

@htech which way do you want to go? We could try to be 'dumb droids' and go chase after the stormtroopers heading toward Thorsh and Hss'kss. Hopefully they don't blast us on sight.

KCC, is there any discarded blasters or other weapon for the taking in the shaft room?

Let me check!

Yeah, the big Rodian’s personal blaster was knocked free when he fell from the chair! He had it stuck between himself and the chair!

Rolls

1-3 No Blaster - (1d6)

(6) = 6

I will follow your lead, @Len! I was waiting for KKC's description of the (chaotic) scene we did with our last posts (and thought it was the Pirates/Empire turn now), but I think we can move on. =)

What did everyone think of the system then? I thought the adventure was Star Wars-y enough! I don’t think the system really lent much to the feel one way or the other, tbh.
Mar 14, 2025 12:15 am
I liked the adventure. Character generation was pretty good and very Star Wars-y. But I don’t think the system/dice/game mechanics really helped (nor hindered) the setting and this feeling.

Comparing with the FFG Edge of Empire RPG system that I played before, this one was less "Star Wars-y" to me but more streamlined and, overall, a better PbP experience.

Thanks for DMing it and the invitation to play, KCC!

The adventure was fine. I think the random encounter stuff doesn't really work well in Star Wars. The system is fine but didn't feel SW to me. It did make for good PBP posting though because of how simple it is!
Mar 14, 2025 3:33 am
Was fun! I hate random PC generation for something like Star Wars, though, and an OSR system is a weird fit generally for the high-flying space opera genre. I think we all made it work (awesome characters and portrayals, everyone), and hopefully Plok wasn’t lame or too goofy. The Borg games play pretty great over PbP, but I will admit I prefer WEG Star Wars or Hyperspace d6 for SW action. Blackstar would be good as well — really anything where the PCs are more competent from the get-go.
Mar 14, 2025 3:59 am
Oh yeah! Plok informs me it’s pretty ridiculous to not have everyone start the game with a blaster.

Mar 14, 2025 4:38 am
Agreed on several points! Random equipment generation is a little lame. I would much prefer starting packs!
Mar 14, 2025 9:21 am
Thanks for running the game KCC!

I think the classic 5-room dungeon made some of the PC abilities and backgrounds less useful. Maybe we shoud've accounted for that at chargen rather than have them purely random. With the correct abilities, I think the characters could've felt more Star Wars-y. Specifically for Jedi, it was weird to not have any Jedi powers. (I never got to use mine!) The lack of blasters as equipment (understandable in an incremental Borg weapon tier system where some PCs are melee and others are ranged) didn't make sense here.

The story is totally Star Wars, and did leave me wanting to see more and find out more.

I don't suppose this system has space combat rules?
Mar 14, 2025 1:00 pm
I had the same question RE space combat…
Mar 14, 2025 1:12 pm
There are space combat rules but its like 2 pages and they are pretty much regular combat rules but each character takes up a station like gunner, engineer, etc.
Mar 14, 2025 1:34 pm
Do they cover very light repulsor tanks?
Mar 14, 2025 1:58 pm
They do not.

An outrage!

Thanks for running, KCC! Fun game, appreciate everyone's interactions. Special shout-out to htech for being my droid partner in crime and Harrigan for indulging in some good-natured inter-character friction.

Anytime, Len! And I greatly enjoyed PQ's prattling, the Jedi's Jediness, and picturing the Jawa dry-humping the tech he'd found.

Didn't like D3, though, nope he can go fuck his droid self!
