The Rescue at Cynoceph
Styrovite cavalry carries off the royal family of Lannia. The Orcs have one chance to head them off at the small village of Cynoceph and rescue the royals.
Pick any two Trait scores to serve as a stratagem, but those scores can never be used together as a stratagem again. Ex. If we choose to use Numbers + Loyalty as this chapter's stratagem, we can no longer use N + L together as a future stratagem.
Roll 1d6+Stratagem. On a total of 7 or higher, Lannia is victorious.
Victory
On a victory, enough Orcs are in the area to surround the Styrovites. After a tense standoff, the royals are rescued unharmed. From now on, the Council of Sages has the backing of the Crown no matter what they do.
Pick three Warps.
Defeat
On a defeat, Orc rescuers arrive with little time to spare. After a tense standoff, the Styrovites panic and the royals are slain. The remaining line of succession is murky. Multiple claimants fight for the throne of Lannia even as the country burns.
Pick two Warps.
If the Orcs were bound in supernatural loyalty to a member of the monarchy, -2 Loyalty.
If any score reaches -8, -4, +4, or +8 this chapter, we will create one new custom the Orcs have begun that sets them apart from Lannians.
Available Warps
Orcs are taught the sorcery needed to create more orcs. +2 Numbers. -1 Loyalty.
Orcs can have children with each other. At least some grow into adult warriors at an incredibly fast speed. +1 Numbers.
Orcs can have children with each other. At least some grow and mature at around the same speed as Lannians. +1 Brute.
Orcs and Lannians can have half-Orc children. +1 Loyalty.
Orcs begin to crave the flesh of their enemies. +1 Brute.
Shifts
The Council may do any or all of these at the end of each chapter starting with Chapter 3, but each only once per chapter:
Make the Orcs larger. Move them up the size scale* by one. +1 Brute. -1 Numbers.
Make the Orcs smaller. Move them down the size scale by one. -1 Brute. +1 Numbers.
Indoctrinate the Orcs. Write one belief you give them. +1 Loyalty. -1 Clever.
Educate the Orcs. Write one skill they learn. -1 Loyalty. +1 Clever.
