That’s up to you, @Dmbrainiac, though I was thinking like the movie Splash, where she can shape-shift. It could be at-will. She could also have a waistcloth that covers her like a skirt, or just-plain-magic, like this video of a Mermaid game. (She transforms @5:00.)

Good news: being sick means my wife will take the kids out and I can finally get a moment to tweak all of the Character Sheets.

(Without getting into detail, I made some tweaks while creating the iPad sheets, so I want to touch up the Phone sheets based on that change.)

Well... I wasn't expecting to play the fairy but I think I can alter the character concept I had going for me... I may not get the chance to jump in with creativity till tomorrow though! (Sundays are usually just check-in days for me, time wise)

Haha… such is the price to pay for choosing last. Though I’m under the opinion that fairies are already kind of awesome, and this time around, The Fairy will have The Damsel to look up to as a fellow wimp.

But, video game logic means your heroines’ power levels are equal, regardless of the fact that they should not be.


So… @Eltesla,@Totes_McGee, the Damsel and the Secret Heroine sheets are ready. I added a note on the Game Details page, but I’ll reiterate my suggestion here. Please don’t edit the character sheet. Yes, have an avatar, and the name of the heroine is also up to you. But I mean don’t mess with the code (please) as the whole sheet is interactive.

Also, please let me know if the aesthetics are way off. I expect a PC screen is wider than an iPad, but here’s the look I’m going for:@Dmbrainiac, I’ll wrap up the other iPad versions, then prioritize the Mermaid when I do the phone versions.

@Tickettbror, do you phone-post, or do you always play on a PC (or an iPad)?

Cool. So I’ll finish up Fairy in a bit, then, before working on both versions of the Mermaid.

Feel free to check out the code. I mostly make that suggestion so players don’t end up with a glitchy looking arcade machine. I had to do a lot of tiny & gargantuan size-shifting to get that Fancy-VDU screen to not have a blinking green underscore, so you’ll see a lot of [/f][/f][/f][/f][/f].

Also, I noticed she’s got a gun. You start with 1 coin (in the right coin slot) at Lv.1, which you can spend to improve a stat:
🕹️ is for dodging attacks (DEF) and for pulling a stunt as long as you have Girl Power.
㊙️ is for fighting (ATK) and blocking attacks (DEF).
☢️ is for shooting (ATK) and spending Girl Power to use magic or the shoe phone.

So if you choose to improve your Nuke Button stat, Lacy will be a pretty good shot!

@Dmbrainiac , both versions of the Mermaid are up!

For the phone version, the number of Credits tells you that you have an unspent coin.If you open the [+]BOMBSHELL sign, that’s where you can spend the coin!…for some reason, when you play on a larger screen (or rotate your phone sideways), the image depicting all of the characters disappears. It’s weird, but all the interactive stuff still works, so it’s not a glitch I intend to fix.

I submitted a character for the human version of my character. I'd also like to submit a separate character for the mermaid version when she's in the water so the avatars match, if you'd allow multiple characters per player. :)

I've submitted my character! The lotus, heart and coin emojis show up as blank boxes on my end, but that's what happens when you're still rocking Windows 10.

I've got an avatar in mind but I can't add it while I'm on a work computer, I've got it saved on my home PC, but I'll sort the character sheet! Does Fairy get a starting coin?

So, I guess I'll give a description of Gemini Starfire; radical, renegade skateboarding fairy. Out of the jar and onto the streets to feel the wind through her hair (and on her wings) in a way that flying doesn't quite seem to do. Sure, she might not be the best fighter in the world but she's good at worldly wisdom, gnarly fashion and, of course, sick tricks!

The polite, taciturn hermit master who knows more secret moves than one could fit in a library. For as long as the nameless master could remember, she has meditated endlessly deep within a cave. Never moving, never stirring, not even when the nukes hit. She never questioned 'why' until Lacey came along to recruit her into the Bombshells. She realized that the world was out of balance, and for the first time, she was possessed with the alien desire to leave her cave... and fight. She needed a name to go by, so she decided on 'Murasaki'. Though Murasaki knows countless secret techniques, she is far less versed on what the world is like outside her cave, so she relies on her teammates' knowledge. She's recently managed to wrap her head around the concept of a phone.

@Eltesla Nice!!! I think I should add threads for each character (and I can move that post after I do that).

@Dmbrainiac , I goofed on the phone version. (Both sheets were identical other than the red telephone emoji!!!) That’s fixed now. Do you want me to swap your sheet to the phone version?

And for incoming calls, the NPC pays the toll. I have no idea who is actually getting paid. This is what I love about inserting video game logic into my games. I don’t have to explain stupid plot holes. I can even flaunt them, as if I didn’t overlook something, but put a lot of thought into how it adds to the flavor. (What I do find hilarious is that none of the other heroines have phones, and their emojis don’t wear shoes—which accidentally adds a layer of silly logic: well of course barefoot and fishtailed characters don’t have phones!)

Note that the Shoe Phone depletes Girl Power when you use it. You can delete that on your "screen." (Also, the move that you spend Girl Power on always works, but has a lesser effect on a 💢MISS.)

I’d like to move this scene forward, but I’ll wait another day.

If I do end up (occasionally?) moving combat forward—which I’ll likely do if the wait is 48+ hours (72+ over weekends)—I’ll usually try to make the battle fair overall, either counting your next successful attack as more damaging or nerf the enemy attack. I’ll avoid botting, except when I need a defense roll or (re)action from that character.

The 🧧 is not level-up money, but it is useful! You’ll find out what it’s for at some point when you’re in The Massholes.

Technically, Fitchburg, Sterling and Worcester are the airports along I-190, which is effectively where you’re going. But a middle choice looks too much like an obvious correct answer… and then would you go north or south from that middle choice?

So uh… the Sterling Airport is part of the giant craters that make fictional-2990s Massachusetts the Massholes. Problem solved.

Funny thing. It took a coin toss, a player vote and a bad roll to get this outcome that I thought of this morning. I was doing a workout and listening to the Bionic Commando music, and YouTube picked that Streets of Rage 4 track next.

If you never played SOR4, that’s the music from the stage where you survive a plane crash.

I hope everyone appreciates the music I found for the ¥ii Shop. It was a leap of faith. Sort of a "c’mon, Internet… this has to exist." The instrument mattered. Being video game music was a must. I didn’t expect to get the best possible tune though!

@Tickettbror , glad you’re feeling better! My wife and oldest daughter have come down with something that includes a cough and high fever. It’s evidently debilitating. I’m trying not to catch it, as if pretending I can repel germs by force of will actually works as long as I pretend hard enough.

Had any of you fallen in the water, the names of the🐊s would have made it obvious what kind of creature they were.

But I actually wanted to address another fact: I almost used Game Genie as the fourth character.

No worries.

With or without girl power, you can always do ㊙️+☢️ as a melee combo attack.

In a combat round, if your first action uses ㊙️ or ☢️, you may take an additional action that also uses ㊙️ or ☢️.

• both actions must be different
• if your actions are ㊙️ATK and ☢️ATK, the first action determines the attack type and if it lands, the second action is a combo-finish (or it triggers a combo-breaker against you on a 💢MISS.)

At the level 2-5 Yii Shop, one of the available snippets is Double Flip, which will allow you to take any two actions per turn.

I’ll start up the boss fight later. (Please don’t roll attacks/actions until I post the ROUND 1…FIGHT bit, though you’re free to post to trash talk as you approach the villain, if you want.) You won the coin toss, so you get to wreck the boss and minions a little before I can start depleting health.

Gemini has one healing spell, if any of you drop. Winning the "initiative flip" and having full HP will keep odds in your favor, though. This is level 1, so… probably for the best you keep winning the coin tosses!

If you’re familiar with Final Fight, the health bars turn several colors before they can be depleted.

I just stumbled upon a classic arcade game with a playable mermaid: Athena!



I never made it to the water world, or the first boss for that matter. (I probably played it once, then gave up.) The game starts Athena with nothing but a red bikini. She kicks enemies in the balls until she picks up a weapon.

If you’re skilled enough to make a YouTube video of your gaming, Athena is eventually a fully armored giant with a cursed flameblade.

Dick is using Damnd’s cheap boss move to become unhittable while more minions join the fight!


But the oni stampede will just keep running. They’re more like a full-screen unblockable attack than enemies.

Yesterday, for Totes McGee’s game, I used a 1979 song and its 2019 cover to musically symbolize how unchanged my character was after several decades had passed.

Today, I discovered how video-gamish the Spotify animation is for that song!

As for the road not taken, it will still be a choice until it takes one too many rejections.

Since you need Girl Power for a 🕹️stunt, it’s probably good to have at least 2 max so you can use your ☢️magic/phone.

The next ¥ii Shop comes with Snippets that allow you to create your own moves.

I think I’ll NPC Gemini as a healer-fairy who wants to skate more than fight. Meeting a group of women who skate seems like a good IC send-off/happy ending.

@Dmbrainiac, It’s not a new round yet… sorry for the mid-round post earlier! (No need to reroll regardless of what you do after I post. Two combos means you’ll succeed, even if you end up taking different actions.)

Also, the bar went down from Lacey’s psychological warfare. The NPC may not be aware, but yes, it did work!

@Dmbrainiac a part of me was tempted to just leave the combo, but then it ends up looking like Gong-Ju pushed Claude out, and that isn’t the case.

Dicey - good luck
Icy - ice
Claude - bad luck (or clumsiness)

I deleted the post since the attack didn’t happen, but if you choose any kind of action that requires a roll, you will auto-succeed without having to roll.

If you’re operating under the assumption that, because it’s a video game, you don’t have to worry about accidentally killing your opponent…

..that is the correct assumption.

So maybe I should just push this scene forward since this bit with Claude falling is meant as an in-story exit for Gemini.

(Actually, I had this planned before Tickettbror bowed out, as a group of skater girls Gemini could choose to join later, if the player decided to leave the game.)

In hindsight, it would have been better to have a miso soup in the photo than a soda can, but my meal tonight was a less fancy version of what your characters are having. —Especially the sake, which we normally use as cooking wine.

Gotta run! So I’ll post what the waitress finds later today. If you want your characters to chat, feel free. There are some girl power abilities that could work here, though I imagine you’ll want to find out what the waitress learned first.

Y’know… Jessica Haggar is really very pretty, but I always played her dad. It’s not that 17-year-old me didn’t wanna get the girl. I just wanted to do piledrivers more.

I’ll stick to emojis for the other fighters, but I couldn’t help myself with the Street Fighter and Final Fight references.

The player kicks his butt, but he manages to attempt one rage attack.

And if you didn’t know, Belger’s wheelchair IS fast!

Because of the nature of the current attack, Abgore’s target is the first player to post. This could be devastating or completely harmless.

Unlike the actual Belger fight, I allowed NOT knocking him out of the building to his death to be an option.

When I was looking for a video earlier for reference, I found this one where Belger is KO’d by a piledriver. That shouldn’t result in him flying out the window, but…

Question, will the custom stunt/magic options overwrite our current stunt/magic?

Nope.

The only exception is Double Flip, which allows you to take two actions in a round no matter what. (Once you have that, you don’t need D’n’A / Extra Joy / Button Mash.)

I may not actually start the fight in as timely a manner as I’d like. I had to help my wife drive our daughters this morning, which meant missing an hour of work, and tomorrow I’m going to a wake for a friend of mine who died suddenly and unexpectedly of an aggressive case of leukemia.

I thought it best to let you ‘see’ the location of the fight so there will be less to unpack after the coin toss. And yes, it is my intention to have scenes where it’s good to be a mermaid. Stage 1 had a water part that you all avoided. This time… we’ll see if everyone manages to stay dry!

Ironically, when I played the music and read the double-post at talking-speed, as soon as I read "ROUND 1," the round 2 music started.

If you don’t know, the music is from Street Fighter III, and so were the Hugo and Poison sprites. Hugo was my second-favorite SF3 character, with Chun-Li being the distant first.

• On a miss, you’d sacrifice the 💜, but immediately heal to 🔥.
• On a hit, the 💜 would become a 🔥.

I had originally planned to have Hey Squid attack Dimpled Chad’s cruise-yacht. Poxy would have fallen overboard, ideally giving Lacey an opportunity to be her hero.

Well… that won’t happen, now that she’s an NPC. Lacey will defeat The Bride while you two handle Hey Squid. (So no need to worry about Lacey for the rest of the battle. She will win.)

Then we move to the finals as a team of two, unless I get more players. Assuming you’re still up for Stage 3, I’ll poll for the next adventure early.

I’m thinking that if you decide on a character before Brainiac returns, we can have a little scene where you join the team and maybe buy a "snippet" from Emoticat. (If you read either gameplay thread, Emoticat has made two appearances so far! He’s arguably the most important/helpful NPC in the game.)

I am starting to lean more towards the Damsel, but I haven't ruled out the Fairy yet. I will make my decision early next week so we can do the little Emoticat scene. That sounds fun AND useful.

☢️SHOOT - you decide whether you cast magic, fire a ranged weapon, throw an unconscious person, or use you Disney-Princessy powers of persuasion to command pigeons and squirrels to attack

Only on very rare occasions will enemies be unreachable to melee attacks or "bulletproof" to ranged. So basically, attack with your best stat.

㊙️BLOCK

I will consistently tell you to "defend yourself" when an enemy attacks.

Sometimes, I might specify:
🕹️DODGE THE ZOMBIE VOMIT!

…meaning you need to defend in a specific way.

I’ll also tell you if there’s a special consequence for a 💢MISS, or whether you are affected/damaged on a 💥HIT. You are always successful when you roll a 💥💥COMBO.



GIRL POWER🕹️STUNT - you can do something agile, sneaky or alluring as long as you have Girl Power.

☢️MAGIC - you can do something magical by spending Girl Power.

Each B☢️MBSHELL starts with snippets that specify what Stunts and Magic they start with. Emoticat gives you a couple opportunities the create your own Custom Stunt or Custom Magic.

Some stages will unlock Stunts or Magic that can only be used during a certain part of the stage. Example: in Stage 1, any wingless heroine could swing on a vine as a Stunt.

Also, it’s fine if your character already has the hat and the whip, and anything else that makes her even more obviously different than the fembots.

Until I started searching for Felicia gifs, I had actually forgotten she had a button-mashing special move. So she’s the perfect teacher for Button Nash.

Katt may not be the best to teach Extra Joy, since she’s from a turn-based RPG.

Katt was my second choice. Button Mash just sounded too good a match with Casey's whip.

Who was the hat catgirl? I didn't recognize her.

She’s from one of the Monster Hunter games. I’m not familiar with the character, but I remembered MH always had cat people.

My lunch break just ended, so I can’t post for the next 2 hours.

An interesting technicality with Defender.

If the first player to roll it MISSes, a second player can roll Defender at no risk.

Right now: 2 of you get hit by the attack (unless you succeed at defending yourself).

If Casey also uses Defender:
• On a 💢MISS, the attack misses another player. (Only one is hit, or forced to defend herself.)
• On a 💥HIT, the attack only hits one player. (Same result as two misses, but I choose who takes the hit.)
• On a 💥💥COMBO, nobody gets hurt.


I would also allow players to benefit without risk from two Defender rolls if the first player rolls a hit. (A miss would allow the player to spare whoever the GM chose to take the hit, and rolling a hit would still mean only one person is hit.)

Well, to be honest, I was going to have the Golden Boys be pushovers and have Super Chad and The Chadsters challenge you. (Like how Akuma shows up in M. Bison’s stage in Super Street Fighter II.)

But with the PC shuffle, it made more sense to just have a straight fight and move us to Stage 3.

The Bombshells had amazing luck with Defense. This is the second battle with the team being unscathed!

I should warn you that as we progress, enemies will use attacks that force you to defend in a specific way. (🕹️-only or ㊙️-only)

If you find that to be a problem, Emoticat has a solution! Somehow I get this funny feeling you’ll all stumble onto a fistful of Yen or three…

I’ll be honest. I had no idea what the fairy dust was going to do other than let you escape one of your foes if Murasaki rolled a hit on Nitro.

The flying car seemed the most obvious. I figured maybe the (robo)cop could shoot at you from below, but he’d still be on the road, so you could just not fly above the road. I didn’t want you to "accidentally" dust an enemy so they could fly after you.

So… just let you get away? That made the most sense. Then, while looking for video game skies, I stumbled upon a Fire Truck Flight Simulator. I had no idea that existed until my lunch break today.

"This is a sign," I knew.

When @Eltesla picked the guest star, I did a search of Samus-on-vacation fan art. It was bikini, bikini, bikini, bikini, and some really cute, original, not-showing-skin artwork.

I wasn’t planning the floating castle, but I definitely wanted to use the burger image. Since you were in a flying car, this seemed like a good place to do the Emoticat thing.


Also, while the Princess is NOT having an affair with Samus, "Fem Slash" does mean romantically (and noncanonically) pairing two fictional female characters… so this artwork is perfect for my wordplay on Night Slashers, even though I’m not actually going there.

I'll be out of town on a mini-vacation this weekend. I'll resume posting on Tuesday. Please bot me as needed.

@Eltesla,@Dmbrainiac,@Redcroc - what a funny question for an NPC to ask: what are you doing at Disney World! That is obviously just a totally innocent question for role-playing purposes. It couldn’t possibly be something sinister, such as the GM using your responses to determine which specific area of the beloved theme park to ruin with an infestation of the walking dead.

I intend to have a little more RP at the castle, but you can pick your Snippets. (It’ll be the same selection for Lv.2-5, meaning you’ll eventually get all four. Then I’ll have a different selection for Lv.6-9.)

Great! Character approved with the Fairy "console" included. No need to worry too much about a backstory… though considering who Princess Diamond is based on and that you’re at Dysneo World (basically Disney World), you could be a fairy princess that was drawn by Don Bluth.

In any case, I’ll start you at Level 2 and you’ll end up leveling to Lv.4 when we level up. You have two coins—one in the left slot, one in the right.

The left coin can be spent to increase Girl Power (✨) or Health (💛).

The right coin can be spent to increase one stat (🕹️, ㊙️ or ☢️).



There are snippets at the bottom of your sheet that explain some special abilities.


🕹️ Pixel Dust
Use Pixel Dust to make your tiny fairy form even tinier! If you shrink super-small, you can flit between pixels.

As long as you have ✨, you can do this at no cost.


☢️ Bottled Energy
Heal a friend or heal yourself.

You need to spend a ✨ to do this.
• On a MISS, spend a 💛 instead!


Double Flip
In a combat round, you may take two actions.

• Both actions must be different.
• If your actions are 🕹️DEF and ㊙️DEF, the first action is self-defense and the second action is defend-a-friend.
• If your actions are ㊙️ATK and ☢️ATK, the first action determines the attack type and if it lands, the second action is a combo-finish (or it triggers a combo-breaker against you on a 💢MISS).

I can’t find it, but I swear there’s a similar photo with tiny Dirk, Daphne and Singe. But anyway, if you wanted to preserve Princess Diamond’s original persona and history of cartoon peril (from Cel Damsel), it would be very fitting here at the Disney-equivalent area in the game.

—plus I loved the character you played in H•G•S. She probably had a shrinking level in her game (as Dirk did in Dragon’s Lair II) and she did shrink (a couple times) in Hero•Girl•Sprite, so this might seem normal. Maybe somewhat surprising when the other characters revert to human size and Diamond doesn’t.

You could go another route as a proper fairy, but I thought I’d throw this out there as a take-or-leave-it kinda suggestion.

Eilonwy, by the way was an action Princess before her time. I am sad that a) she’s never been seen again and b) that Disney didn’t better follow The Chronicles of Prydwain story
