The Orc Mutiny

The war is over. Many Orcs no longer see themselves as Lannians. Many Lannians no longer wish to share their country with Orcs. The time for secret betrayals is over; true colors are revealed.

CHOOSING A SIDE
Each Sage can choose to side with the Orcs, side with the Lannians, or take no part in the struggle. If the Orcs are bound in supernatural loyalty to a Sage, and that Sage sides with the Orcs, -2 Loyalty. (Not applicable.)

"And so it comes to this," Velledaine says. "We have created a new form of life, councilors, a new people far superior to the Lannians. They have shown themselves too weak to hold these lands properly. They fell to infighting and anarchy after the royal family died. Our orcs are strong, clever, and loyal. They will reign supreme!"

"As the New Druid says, the Lannians have shown themselves to be weak and ungrateful. Our miraculous creations pulled Lannia out of the fire at the last moment and instead of being welcomed as heroes, they were met with fear and distrust. I value strength and resourcefulness and the orcs have shown themselves to be superior to the Lannian citizenry by far on both counts."

"Never again will anyone set foot on the sovereign territory of this council with impunity. Nature left us vulnerable and weak, and so we set aside nature and nurtured a new, and better, creation. These Orcs are a new beginning - a weapon forged in a crisis, but now the very means by which we will establish the Peace of Lannia across all lands and oceans. Peace by strength! Peace by the sharp-edged weapons of our glorius children. Rejoice, my fellow consellors, you have become as gods!"

"Fie! Fie! Betrayers of your own kind! Disloyal to Lannia! Disloyal to the Throne! Heed my warning. Recall none of you Ziggart's The False Wizard of Cotrille?
Quote:
And now oh spirits I have summoned / Shall I never see dismissed?
I cannot abide. I will not abide. Orcs, be damned! Council, be shamed!"

The witch glows purplish-white in her livid self-righteousness.

MUTINY! - (1d6+10)

(3) + 10 = 13

The Dread Marshall rises and advances toward Selixa, sword drawn. "You cling to old ideologies and follow weak pretenders to a shattered crown. The Styrovite flag would be flying over all of Lannia but for these orcs we have birthed. Lannia is doomed and the future will belong to the orcs. A new nation forged by clever and brutal warriors to correct the decadent and pitiful mistakes of the old nation. Come quietly or die with the past."

Velledaine intones a spell, and a wall of thorny vines slithers up across the door the council chamber, cutting off Selixa's escape route.

Selixa does not fight, she does not defend, she only marks the eyes of every council member for sweet, sweet revenge...

AFTERMATH OF THE MUTINY (LANNIANS DEFEATED)

If Orcs win the mutiny and Clever is their highest score, the Orcs overthrow the rulers of Lannia and install a new government, of their own design.

How do they rule?
Jan 30, 2025 5:28 pm
The Orcs were fashioned in war and adversity. Their blood was poured upon the soil of the (former) Lannia to sanctify it. The ungrateful, fearful, masses cared not for the Orcs loss. On the contrary, the gratitude they showed for their salvation was the desire to shackle the Orcs; even deny them any right to the now hallowed turf. The mutiny was inevitable!

"I propose that the Orcs elect a champion to sit in this counsel, with us, their loving creators. The office of Dread Marshall, of Chief Druid, and Master of Wisdom, should be enshrined as permament members of this counsel along with the Orc Champion. Henceforth, all property and non-personal possessions of the Lannian recalcitrants should be forfeit pending a pledge of fealty to this counsel and its class of protector lords - our newly enobled children - whereupon it may, at our absolute discretion, be leased back to them as tenants. The fealty of the Lannian will carry it with it obligations to offer up some of the fruits of their labour in order that a reciprocal obligation of the council and the protector-lords to keep them safe from harm may be effected. By these means we shall bring into being the new Lannia - Orcland, perhaps, to ensure the peace and prosperity of these, our homelands, whilst we venture forth to conquer pastures new and bring the peace of Orcland to the edges of the world "

And thus it was that Orc came to mean Noble-Knight and Lannian came to mean peasant.
OOC:
In the Periklean vision, the Dread Marshall is the supreme Warlord of the new state, whereas the High Druid becomes the High Priestess of the nation - infusing it with values and spiritual purpose. Meanwhile, the Orc Champion is a tribune for the Orcs ensuring always that their voice and concerns are laid before the council. In this vision, the Master of Wisdom, is the Prime Minister, but not greater than the others, rather, primes inter pares (foremost amongst equals, the councils diplomatic and admionistrative figurehead - the voice of the council)

"I will be returning to my keep and stepping down from the council. The orcs have learned all I have to teach them and must now forge their own way forward. They have proven their intelligence and warlike nature. Let the orcs follow the new council if they deem it necessary. "

The Dread General rises from the council table and prepares to exit.

"I was created for war and killing. I have no desire for this age of peace even if the orcs have earned it. Therefore, I will retire into isolation and solitude."
