Post your stuff here. Your character concept from Games Tavern is fine, but you can certainly tweak it.

Superhero Name: Rocketeer

Real Name: Matilda Lark

Description: An unhinged (but not unheroic!) young woman who is obsessed with rockets. She can be argued to be one of the top ten most intelligent people on the planet, but her obsession makes her considerably less effective than she otherwise would be. However, even when operating within the constraints of her fixation, she has plenty of tricks. She's constantly looking for new ideas, from both friend and foe.

Mad Rocket Scientist (4)
High-Flying Daredevil (4)
Technopathic Nanoimplants (2)
Gear: Power armor with back-mounted jets and built-in missile launchers, regular missiles, trick missiles (in the same vein as trick arrows)

Is it too late to hash out a backstory? I was thinking she might have some ties to OmniCorp.

Nope! Backstory to your heart's content, and we'll make sure the details mesh with the world.

Here's what I'm thinking of.

Matilda Lark was artificially created by OmniCorp as part of Project Omni-Men, which was an attempt to create, market, and most importantly, control their own superhero team. Her DNA was a mix between stolen samples from two prominent heroes, Brainstorm (superintelligent gadgeteer hero) and Teknomancer (technopathic hero). While Matilda displayed signs of Brainstorm's superintelligence, the technopathy from Teknomancer was unstable. Some days, she could hardly turn a television on and off, and other days she'd be subject to an overwhelming amount of feedback from the technology within her range. This drove her to create the nanoimplants that would regulate her technopathy.

She and four other similarly engineered supers were put through grueling training (and programming) before debuting as the Omni-Men. She went by Machina, serving as the 'brains' of the team. However, she grew unsatisfied with being under OmniCorp's thumb, so she escaped and went off the grid. She told herself that she couldn't have helped the others, their programming went too deep. However, the guilt ate away at her, so she emerged from hiding to be a hero again, taking great care to reinvent herself and hide her true identity. She's been moving from town to town, spending the majority of her hero income on her power armor while also secretly striking at OmniCorp in ways that she could get away with. She came to Small Town because of the rumors about the OmniCorp cell phone factory.

Interesting! This certainly gives me plenty of GM inspiration....

This backstory works for me, but I do have some questions:

- Matilda is of course genetically engineered, but did she grow up "normally"? That is, aging as a normal human would. Or was her aging sped up? Or maybe she popped out of the vat already an adult?

- Who are the other four Omni-Men? If that's too detailed for now, no worries.

- How did Matilda overcome her programming and control?

- She popped out of the vat as an adult, same as the other Omni-Men. During her growth period, a massive amount of information was downloaded into her brain to give her a wide range of knowledge. The other Omni-Men received this to a lesser degree due to the 'specs' of their brains not being nearly as high, but they still came out with the knowledge of well-educated young adults.

-The other four Omni-Men:

Name: Johnathan McColt
Hero Name: Aegis
Gender: Male
Role: Leader
Powers: Flying Brick, Precognition (though he sees many possible futures instead of one true future)

Name: Allison Fox
Hero Name: Dynamo
Gender: Female
Role: Blaster
Powers: Energy absorption, conversion and projection

Name: Aaron Davidson
Hero Name: Behemoth
Gender: Male
Role: Muscle
Powers: Gigantification, Regeneration

Name: Allen Harper
Hero Name: Horizon
Gender: Male
Role: Support, Transport
Powers: Portals, Superhuman Multitasking

- The one in charge of the project, Dr. Liam Garroway, created and used hypnotic technology to program them. Whenever they began to display anything but utmost obedience, their programming would be 'refreshed' with the technology. All of them went through this at least a handful of times. Matilda required it the most often due to her personality and the nature of her brain, and every time she'd undergo reprogramming, it was slightly less effective. Her brain was actively adapting to resist the hypnosis, but Matilda pretended to be under control so she could devise her escape without alerting anyone. By the time Dr. Garroway realized something was wrong, she was already gone.

Between you and Sidekick, I've got plenty of inspiration for future missions....

Rocketeer enhanced her armor with Lightning Strike's power core, and got:

Primary power source -- you get Adaptive Power Modulation: the core allows Rocketeer to operate her armor more efficiently! If using Mad Rocket Scientist (the cliche that, in my opinion, best correlates with your armor), you get +1 to all rolls.

@Eltesla: Can you post a full-size image of unmasked Rocketeer here? Like to get a better look at it!

Rocketeer, the telepath has deleted some memories! You no longer remember meeting up with the other heroes (Small Fry, Shield Maiden), and the encounter with Raines and his crew is hazy.

She's also implanted a false memory: Garroway hugging you when you were Machina, telling you how proud he is of you, and promising you freedom one day.

Link.
