As you can see, I haven't had a chance to play many modules. I was in a Strahd campaign but was only able to attend around 4 sessions throughout the entire campaign. I didn't gain any knowledge of the story or anything. Plus, anything learned I can keep that information separate. I just really want to experience a horror style game.

Curse of Strahd is often touted as the best WotC module, but if it's so good, why does it keep fizzling out? I swear CoS is cursed.

haaaa I see what you did there

I'd also like to mention that I'd LOVE to play a Theros game

@DireHalfling Good spot. I've added that to the end of the list.

The three adventures that I know best are probably Descent into Avernus, Rime of the Frostmaiden, and Waterdeep Dragon Heist, so it's a little disappointing to see that they're the most popular ones here too. It reinforces my beigeness.

Although I was surprised to see Out of the Abyss get only one vote (yours). That's a solid adventure, but I guess the underdark isn't for everyone. Naatkinson ran a six-year OotA campaign here, so at least it's for some people.

I would be fine playing any of the modules, since i never played in any of them. I only know a bit Curse of Strahd because i stole the castle layout for a game i wanted to run.

I was in that campaign and I really enjoyed it. That's the only reason I didn't vote for it.

I'm new to D&D, and haven't heard of most of these. If I did the bare minimum research on any of these i would probably vote for more.

I'm in one or two of these, but have marked interests in the ones in which I would look forward to participating.

Back in my 5e DM days, I ran Strahd to completion twice (real life group), including a really fun extended wedding-scene-turned-epic-battle at the end of one, and even wrote a custom "Return to Ravenloft" that picked up 10 years after the PCs left and introduced the rise of a new vampiric threat and a new race of "Frankenstein" flesh golems.

Strahd suffers from such a strong tone that people get exhausted. And if it gets too jokey, it loses so much of what makes it a good module. It requires a delicate balance.

I've never found the right tone for Strahd, but it's on my bucket list.

I find mashups are a good way of running WotC adventures, as you can nick the best bits of two adventures and stop even pretending you're following the plot.

Someone suggested a Strahd/Wild beyond the Witchlight mashup, so a dark fey Strahd. I thought that was an interesting idea.

That is actually an interesting idea.

I know, right? It would need a DM who can use all the colours in the gamut. But get it right and it sounds like it could be epic.

The last game i was GM on another site, i was running Strahd as a female version. :)

I chose many adventures in this poll that I would like to run. It's encouraging that Dragon Heist seems really popular, as I've been thinking about running it and related adventures around Waterdeep and the North. I would also love to make Undermountain my first megadungeon, but I favor 1e and its retroclones a lot more than 5e for dungeon crawling.

P.S. forgot to mention another great module, Out of the Abyss. I ran this one up to 4th-level once before, but it fizzled out and now I'm always looking for the chance to redeem myself and get to the end. It was a little disappointing finding out that a module centered around the Underdark is more of a linear path than a sandbox, so I'm eager to make the world a little more open for players who enjoy getting lost underground.

I did'nt vote for Out of the Abyss before, because I didn't really know it. Now I have see a few reviews, I have updated my vote. I would give it serous consideration should a GM offer to run it.

I'm running a Waterdeep Dragon Heist game at the moment. Waterdeep, bright City of Splendours, is my favourite antidote to the darkness of Rime, Avernus and Saltmarsh. I keep meaning to find another less grim setting - perhaps spelljammer or planescape - Witchlight would be good, but my soul isn't playful enough for fey whimsy.

I mostly use OotA as a sourcebook for when the PCs wander into the underdark, to the extent that I've probably used every bit of it at some point, just not as a single adventure.
