Welcome to the game! I've created other threads here with an overview of how the game works, the starting characters you can choose from, and a few introductory scenarios we can pick from when we are ready to get started. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. :)

Hi! I am ges (she/her), it is great to play with you!

So... I have eyed the characters and my first love went to Parish and Lady Sheridan, and then to Gertrude, but I am happy to try others. All of them are... special!

As a chapter, the Breakfast Feast, The Witch Missing Shadow and Lights out are the ones I liked at first sight.

About the chapters: I am of course open to another. Perhaps @Dmbraniac, you prefer one as first chapter or there is one that you didnt play yet and want to try :).

Hi, ges. I go by Brainiac or Brainy (he/him or she/her).

I agree that all of the characters have something special about them that draws me to them. And these are just some of the many we have the potential to unlock as we play.

Let's wait for timplausible to join us to get their thoughts. If we get another player or two as well, that would be great, but I'm also okay just playing with the three of us for now. :)

What do we do first?

Hey everyone! Thanks for the invite! I can start with any introductory scenario and improvise as I read the other threads (might take a few days :( ) if that helps getting the game started.

by the way, welcome to the site ges!

@timplausible Read the Introduction and How to Play thread and let me know if you have any questions. Then take a look at the Residents and Guests and see if there’s somebody you’d like to play first. Finally, take a look at the Chapters and pick one or two that you’d like to start with. I’ll select one from everybody’s choices to be our starting chapter we will play.

@CESN Welcome! There’s no rush, so take your time to read through everything as I suggested to tim. :)

I'm feeling cranky and old lately, so Lady Sheridan feels right. I'll make her my first choice.

As for chapters, I am weirdly drawn to Gone Fishin', despite it seeming at odds with my choice of character (maybe that's why I'm drawn to it). On the flip side, After Dinner would probably be a great opportunity for playing Sherry. And The Pancake War just seems fun.

After reading the "how to play" section I feel like I don't really know how to play. But I assume I'll pick it up as we go.

Sometimes playing characters in a chapter where it seems like they would be an odd choice makes it more fun!

It’s pretty intuitive once you get started. Each category of chapter has its own base rules. Then, each individual chapter has its own bespoke subset of rules. Before we start a chapter, I’ll post all that information so everybody can see it and refer to it as we play.

Had a quick look and I think it could be good to start off with a relaxed chapter just to get used to the game. Gone Fishin' and Breakfast Feast have been mentioned already and both look like good options to me. Still going through the guest list, but outside the ones mentioned I thing Gertrude could fit Gone Fishin' and Amelie for Breakfast Feast

Yes, a relaxed chapter is a good choice to begin with. I think we should start with Gone Fishin'. gesges could play Parish and timplausible could play Lady Sheridan out of her element. CESN could play Gertrude and I could play Sal. Of course, everybody's free to change their choices before we start, and I'm still waiting for one more player who expressed interest to accept the invite to the game, so their choices might change who we play, too.

For now, at least, I'll put up the chapter thread so everybody can read through the rules for this chapter. I'll keep it locked until we finalize our character choices for this chapter.

Yes, that's correct. Note that spending 2 tokens allows you to change your character's belief between fishing being a Pastime or a Sport, in addition to marking any Track you'd like. This is an exception to the usual Track rules, so you could either mark the Sundown Track in this chapter, your Journey's Track, or one of the Assorted Tracks available (more on those later).

Everybody should detail one or two fish (or things that are not quite a fish) and assign them a point value between 0 and 4. Once everybody has done so, I'll compile them on a table with the ones provided by the chapter text so we can roll randomly to determine what we catch each time we cast a line into the pool.

ah right! forgot about that one... since it's water and lakes, I''m thinking something related to Viv (I did considered them for the chapter)

So I just rolled the number for something that is already in the cooler. I just re-rolled to get something else, but do you thing the card/deck drawing system from GP could be useful for thing that can't be taken twice? (I think it was pretty much abandoned so I am not sure how developed it it)

It might be. I haven't really tried the card system here, though, so I'm not sure of its capabilities and limitations.
