OpenWorld of Dungeons hack (PbtA)Public2 / weekCaptSammich
Mostly a 5E DM I want to learn some different rule sets. Offworlders is a rules light space game based off a PbtA hack. I have never played it. I have never played a sci-fi game. But I am fascinated by the idea of running it and learning on the run.

Characters will begin as offworlders. They have been given a ship and a direction, and their only real motivation is riches and good times exploring near and far.

Hoping this to be a starting point for a west march type campaign in space. Exploring. Mini adventures. Down time. Crawling. Story telling. But again, we will be learning all together. My time zone is Baltics in Europe. GMT +1.

Looking for creative chill people who may or may not have office jobs and moments during the day to shoot off a couple of actions during the week.

Rules are here, they are free. We can definitely hack it to bits and add things and take away things as long as it makes sense, it is fun, and allows for human error and death and human struggle and success.

If we all agree, we could even jump on discord and owlbear for some audio sessions but at this point I want to concentrate on PbP, learning the game and having some fun.

I am thinking we aim for finishing it mid June and then we will decide if we want to continue. So, if you want two months of fun. Lets do this.

Come jump on a ship and go adventuring.
Offworlders is a rules light game that I would like to run for about 2 months. At least 2 posts a week.
Create a corner of the universe, explore it, delve some caves, meet some weird beasts and new friends.
Get build your ship and see what happens.

I've briefly played Offworlders before. I'd happily give it a go

That was my game, Dunder! Chris Wolf has since developed an even more Traveller-like game called Night Tripper, but I really dig the vibes and simplicity of Offworlders.

I'm out of pocket for a bit traveling / on vacation, but if this doesn't fill, Captsammich, I'd be happy to throw in.

Love sci fi, would be learning the game as we play, but definitely interested. Joined here a while ago then lots of things got in the way so still pretty new to pbp, too.

Curious how it’s going to work at 2/week

Too little or too much?

Looking over the "Rolling The Dice" section, there’s three exchanges every time a PC tries something that might be "interesting" On where the GM decides if a roll is needed, one where the GM and player lay out the stakes, and one for the roll and results. This is all serial and individual: no queuing up actions because there’s no "turns" and you want to resolve one player actions so you can spotlight another.

Tl;dr: Willing try 2/week and see if we make progress. If that’s too slow, I can get behind kicking it up a bit

If I remember correctly (I ran Offworlders a few years ago), you can bundle some things together to cut down on the number of GM-player transactions required per roll. Setting the stakes early, etc.

I do think 2/week is slow -- which is fine, but the game will take longer than the projected two months at that rate unless we're doing 1-2 scenes.

Im pretty easy with regard to posting rate. I don't have many games at the moment so I'm pretty relaxed about a faster or slower rate.

2 posts per week for 2 months is only around 18 posts, total, each. They will need to be quite substantive posts to get much done in that number.

I predict it will take a lot longer than 2 months... (but then I have played PbP before, and know it always takes longer:).

I'm interested. Not in any sci-fi games atm and I like the look of the rules.
