Chapter 4 and 5 (OOC)

This thread is for out-of-character (OOC) discussions while we are playing our chapters 4 and, probably, 5

It would seem we're in a situation of having 6 people in a room and 7 opinions on what to do. Rather than each of us pulling in different directions until the rest expire, why don't we take stock on where everyone stands, in terms of both player and PC, mm?

Obviously Salem is a necromancer, so contacting the dead or spirits or shadows are going to be more interesting. I'm a little less exact--I learn towards the direction of whatever is likely to give the most interesting or unusual result.

I'm fine going with the séance (which is likely to undig some secrets) or the shadow.

I am following along, but waiting for you to solve this, In Character, OOC or both. =)

A seance sounds cool and edgy. Dorian would go along with it.

I would like the first ritual to be something with a clear provable effect - but it could be my science-teaching that's speaking here

Seems as though all of our ideas are illegal, or at least, that's what I gather from the most recent GM post. I was thinking that speaking with the dead was perfectly legal but maybe not?

...not that that bothers me of course.

Something provable, or at least confirmable works. Summoning a ghost into a corporeal forn to ask it questions seems fun. Or talking to someone that may know something fun about our teacher could be rather amusing.

I'm confused by the legality comment. I thought resurrection of sapient undead is banned, but chatting with the already existing undead (such as ghosts at a séance) should be OK?

Vicky_molokh is right. Sorry about the confusion, I meant Dorian’s university papers with the illegal part. The scrying ritual to read those papers would be akin to "hacking the university computers" in a cybersecurity class =)

Oh, ok! Thanks for the clarification. Well, we still have a few more people that need to weigh in either way. I'm not, like, absolutely married to the seance concept if the group wants to do something else, it just came to mind as a ritual that she would have some knowledge of.

Something I wanted to point out:

There are moments in the campaign when it's unclear what is expected of the players in terms of posts (including narration/description). It reminds me of the principle that the better the audience/players understands the laws of magic, the better it is able to handle its use for resolving scenes of the story. And I think some of the twists in the scene lately flew over my head.

And I think the above issue is somewhat amplified by happening at the time of, or closely following/followed by, 'cutscene mode' (i.e. when the GM takes over the PCs).

That is, right now, if something is expected of me, I'm at loss what to post.

Right now, the séance/ritual was cast. Before that, I described what everyone would do, based on the group answers to the poll. Then, everybody but Kae posted. After that, I waited a little more than a day and skipped Salem's roll (but kaekozee can still post it) to keep the 5/week posting frequency for the rest of the group.

So, the ghost (Eryndel) is waiting for some interaction from someone. Maybe Salem will say something. That's probably what people are expecting. Maybe someone wanna take over and talk to Eryndel. That's a possibility. Maybe Quinn will be upset and sever the connection. 🤷‍♂️

I wanna play to find out =)

It probably makes the most sense for Kae to post Salem's words/action. I would only jump ahead with questions if there is a meta/OOC reason to. For now I think there isn't (yet).

Still, the ritual did get confusing parway through, so if there were more expectations for me, I likely didn't see/understand them.

That's why I continued and summoned Eryndel.

Events over the past few weeks have showed me that, unfortunately, I am not able to upkeep my posting with this game. I hate to drop out so soon after joining, but even if I can manage to post normally for a while, chances are its not something I'm going to be able to maintain. Hope you all have a lot of fun! ^^
