I will use this thread to address some of questions (private or public) I've got asked. And I hope you will not hesitate to ask more questions.
Besides I don't intend to be rules expert and invite you to discuss or challenge anything I tell you here

So, let's revisit skill checks
- 10 is always the number, but DM may decide your action is either difficult or risky. I'm not doing that for first check but may - just to demonstrate the possibility - do that in next checks to come. Please don't freak out about my decisions - we are just learning the system, don't we

- Rules say "Each roll can only benefit from one statistic bonus at a time". In particular that means no more than one trigger could be used at a time. More over, your triggers

- Your skill skill triggers are not "feats" or "abilities". Please focus on role play what's your character is doing and treat trigger as simple reason to add +2 to your 1d20 roll

As a central character in the story, your pilot will have moments when their background, training, and personality shine through. These moments are your pilot’s triggers.
but don't forget you don't need to trigger. I would love to see your PC actions that help to make a better story over actions that allow you to easier add +2 and increase your chance to success bu some 10%.

Note: I hope this have answered all of the questions I've been asked so far, please do ask them here if you still have more questions. I prefer to limit game thread to game-play only

Note: while I suggested for first action to decide it based on 4 of your triggers, having a trigger is not a prerequisite. It is most important to describe what is your goal.
Even if your goal is something that is clearly defined in a trigger you don't have you can still take that action. i.e. of you don't have " PULL RANK" trigger you could have
Tried to "get information, resources, or aid from mechanics, maybe against their will."
Because mechanics certainly might respect your authority (military or otherwise) - read who is Lancer in rulebook. Even a LL0 lancer is respectable person.

At least that's how I understand it

I've double checked rules on "pushing it" and a forum post that explained it better
Quote:
You get to set new, more interesting consequences for the risky roll. It's described as having "clear and obvious complications," which I tend to interpret as being immediately regrettable in some way
Let's not do it this time, but remember in future that when you decide to push I will be providing you a new consequences, like killing mechanic instead of knocking out in case of failed pushed roll. Or maybe they take You out instead.
