Wacky Races: A PvP Vehicle Combat Campaign (Using Prowlers & Paragons)
Looking for Players – Rules in Progress! Looking for Ideas and Opinions!
I'm setting up a fun, homebrew PvP campaign inspired by the classic Wacky Races cartoon, using the Prowlers & Paragons TTRPG system.

The Concept
Players will each build a custom racing vehicle using modified P&P rules.
The campaign features a Rally-style tournament made up of 5 races.
Each race is broken into 6 Legs (combat rounds).
During each Leg, players take actions like attacking rivals, dodging hazards, or using gadgets.
A Leaderboard acts as the battlefield and shows everyone's position in the race.
After 6 Legs, whoever is in 1st place wins the race.
Between races, cars are repaired and upgraded, and the chaos starts again!

What You Can Expect
Fast-paced, PvP-focused fun.
Vehicle powers, traps, sabotage, and stunts.
Ever-evolving rules (this is a Work In Progress – expect tweaks for balance and fun).
Plenty of wild and wacky antics in the spirit of the cartoon.

Looking For
At least 5 players who are up for lighthearted competition, creative car building, and flexible rules.
Open minds and creative input! I welcome ideas, feedback, and suggestions as we refine the system together.
Prowlers & Paragons: Ultimate Edition
Prowlers & Paragons (P&P) is a cinematic superhero tabletop RPG designed to bring comic book action to life. Whether you're a gritty street-level vigilante or a reality-warping powerhouse, P&P delivers fast, flexible gameplay that emphasizes narrative and flair.

Core Mechanics
P&P uses a dice pool system with six-sided dice (d6). When taking action, a character rolls a number of dice equal to their Attribute + Skill + Power Level. Successes are calculated as follows:
2s and 4s = 1 success
6s = 2 successes
Most actions involve opposed rolls—for example, when an attacker uses a power against a defender.
If the attacker's total successes exceed the defender’s, the difference becomes the damage dealt.

Vehicle Creation Rules.
Starting Power Level 8. 75 Hero Points. Max Trait Cap 8.
We are Ignoring all Abilities and Talents and replacing it with the Characteristics below.
Vehicle Characteristics.
Body: This is your Vehicle's Health
Speed: 8 Max. Players can Boost Speed to 10 Once a Race. Roll 10d6 to see if it works.
Control: This is how good your character is at Driving. Used for Steering Deadly Curves, Dodge Attacks, Recovery, and More.
Weapons & Specials Effects: All Powers you purchase. Work with DM on this. (Some Powers are Banned or Modified.)

🏁 Wacky Rally Racing Rules

📏 Rally Overview
The full rally covers 500 miles, broken into 5 individual races.
Each race lasts 24 minutes and is divided into 6 Legs, each lasting 4 minutes.

🕹️ Turn Structure
Each Leg (4 minutes) consists of:
1 Move Action
1 Action

✅ Move Action Options
Your vehicle moves forward at Max Speed Rank unless affected by hindrances (e.g. damage, obstacles).
Use your Move Action to:Switch lanes, Take a shortcut, Dodge an obstacle, Perform stunts or avoid hazards.

✅ Action Options
Use your Action to:
Activate powers
Use weapons or gadgets
Set traps or sabotage rivals

🔧 Combat, Attack Ranges & Damage

🧨 Attack Ranges & Targeting
In this rally, the Leaderboard doubles as the game map — your position on it determines who you can interact with during a race.
Each attack or ability has a Range Type, which determines which vehicles you can target based on their place in the race:

🔹 Self
Target: Your own vehicle only.

Use For: Going Invisible, Jumping over a Obstacle, activating shields, etc.

🔹 Touch
Target: One vehicle directly in front of or behind you on the Leaderboard.
Example: If you're in 4th place, you can target: The car in 3rd (ahead) OR the car in 5th (behind)

🔹 Range
Target: One vehicle anywhere on the Leaderboard.
Example: A 4th place car could target the car in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, or any other position — as long as it’s just one vehicle.

🔹 Zone
Target: Up to two vehicles anywhere on the Leaderboard.
Example: If you're in 4th place, you can target: Cars in 2nd and 3rd, OR 1st and 5th.

Defending
When you're attacked, you get one chance to defend per attack using any Abilities that are active.
If you take damage:
Your Vehicle Body is reduced.
You drop 1 place on the Leaderboard.

🔁 Race Progression
After each Lap (full 24-minute race), your vehicle:
Is fully repaired.
May be updated or modified for the next Lap (e.g. upgrades, new gadgets).

🏆 Leaderboard Rules
🎲 Start of the Rally
The Leaderboard (position ranking) is randomized for the first race.

🔁 After Each Lap
The Leaderboard resets based on finishing positions from the previous Lap.
Turn order at the start of each Lap follows the new Leaderboard and remains fixed for that Lap.

I could see this also being used for more weird and scary games, such as Blood Drive or Death Race

@Smiley, Definitely interested.

Death Race I could totally figure something out for it.
I was thinking Mario Kart but I am not sure how to deal with boosts and such.

Trying to keep it simple for right now.

Yeah. Completely agree. Figure out how it all works together before going for something else.

would players get to make their own concept, or would they need to emulate a vehicle/ crew from the original cartoon?

Completely make your own concept.
I would suggest picking a theme and going with it.

Electric Motocycle.
Lightning Themed Blast, Blink Themed as Turning into a bolt of Lightning and dodging out of the way. Ect...

Just curious about the creation aspect, are you using the vehicle creation rules from chapter 6 to make the vehicles (while the drivers themselves do not act individually and have no powers),or are you creating the vehicles themselves as if they were the heroes (using the character creation rules)?

Also do you have a plan for if a vehicle is completely demolished or a driver is targeted by attacks/taken out?

@Nellancholy
We will focus on Building just the Vehicle as the player and Ignoring the Driver.
I am modifying the rules quite a bit to hopefully make things simpler.
Removing the Ability scores For just Speed, Body, and Control.
Removing all Talents(Skills)
Changing or Removing some powers that I don't think make sense.

With each Race being 6 Legs (6 Rounds) If your Vehicle is demolished you would be out for that race.
Once the Race is over your vehicle is back to full health or Rebuilt and ready for the next race.

Sounds fun! I'd like to give it a shot. I haven't played Prowlers & Paragons before, but the trimming down of the rules should make it easier for me.
