Interest Check - Dragonball Z Anime Adventure Game

So I have stumbled upon this book at a Half Priced Books and have never played it.

Everything I have heard is that it is wildly imbalanced and impractical, but dog gannet I want some TTRPG DBZ.

The game uses a D6 system (they call it Instant Fuzion not sure if it is just an older system I haven't heard of) and attacks get up to throwing HUNDREDS OF D6 at a time at relatively low power level (Raditz a guy who dies in like episode 4 has a 200 dice energy attack). If that doesn't scream DBZ I don't know what does.

My hope would be a tournament battle set up where everyone plays a character and we end up with PvP goofiness to start and get use to the mechanics, then if we want to continue to more adventures we can. I don't expect this to be pretty but it could be a lot of fun and goofiness.

I have the game material I could provide on building characters and other rules.

I owned the first two books back in the day. I never got a chance to play, because the system was so wonky. I'd be down to kick some tires and play.

Does GP even support rolls that big? I think the limit is 50d or something like that.

the manual has "drop the zero and roll the small numbers then add that many zeros" rules but you could also do 50d6 per line and do multiple lines of rolls you would then add together (lame I know but possible). At character creation numbers they seem to be far lower than that (actual Z-fighter level power is absurd even for this game).

though if you really wanted to be Super Saiyan power level you get in the expansion books (Frieza Saga and Android Saga) you would for sure need to fudge the numbers but the rules are literally talking about rolling potentially MILLIONS of dice.

This system is wonky and breaks under stress....but that could be fun

Is this home brew or isq a phb required I haven't seen any. But I love dbz. I'd love to play a Saiyan i created that's a bit like future Trunks. It'd be fun. Even if they never get to super .

It was an officially licensed and published game book. The first book was released in 1999. Two more books followed. It got like zero traction.

I am not hugely interested in PvP.

I am Hugely interested in making a Human that crushes Saiyajin.

Decisions

Honestly, the game book described it all the explanations of play in "PVP" terms and 1 on 1 combat if people want to skip to "adventuring" or doing stuff beyond that I am a-okay with it.

I would want to do the power scaling suggested in the handbook with people starting "fairly" weak but then we just jump up the XP faster than suggested so we can get to the Super Saiyan level power scaling at some point.
