Character sheet under quick post gone
The character sheets below the quick post section aren't opening. It used to be like this for all characters in a game I'm running: https://i.imgur.com/UsoHsXf.jpeg

But now, some (private?) characters aren't showing up: https://i.imgur.com/FopvSjg.jpeg

If I click at the red scroll, they open in their own page, as usual.

I can't figure out why some characters are opening in the quick post section and others aren't anymore. Maybe only the public ones are opening? This isn't related to any changes in their content. Yesterday it worked.

I'll get back here when I have more information. In the meantime, is this happening to anyone else?

Yes, looks like the list bbcode changes broke other stuff. I've rolled back the list bbcode, and would appreciate help replicating this on staging so we can figure out what's up.

Thank you. Sheets are working again, after the revert. I will try to reproduce this in staging tonight.

This bug is not limited to the 'character sheet under post' display, it also prevent the sheet from being Previewed while editing (which made creating a 'minimum breaking sheet' easier).

Any sheet longer than 8157 characters breaks.

In the example code below, removing the last 'o' (or any character from anywhere in the text) makes it start working. Having complex formatting does not seem to make a difference, it still breaks at 8157 characters.

The logs don't show anything useful that I could find.

I can't imagine what I changed that would have caused this, but I'll look into it.

@vagueGM If I understood correctly, I took the text you had in the code block, added on one more character for safety, and saved it in a custom character sheet. I made a custom game, added the sheet to the game, and looked under the quick reply for the character sheet. Clicking said sheet brought it up with no problem. So there's something else going on.

Did you change anything?

That is suddenly working for me on staging as well. There were many other sheets in my games that did not load before. They are all working now. One of these sheets is 317 lines, 205 sentences, 5655 words, and 33646 characters, of tag soup.

@htech (or anyone else), can you check that all your sheets are displaying correctly on staging (in the threads, not in their own window, and/or that they can Preview while being edited).

Nope. I lie, they are suddenly broken again (went back for one last check of Preview with that large sheet, and never even got that far, it does not show in the thread or the Edit Preview.

Check again.

And now I got a 'bad gateway 502' error and then it started loading again...

I had to rebuild the containers so you may have gotten it just then. Qralloq can't replicate anymore.

OK. So it worked, then it broke for a minute, then you rebuilt, and now it seems to be working properly all the time on all sheets.

All I did was change some logging. No idea why that broke stuff yesterday.

Ok, this should be now live on prod without the problems, if anyone minds double checking.
  • The list bbcode should be working
  • Char previews shouldn't be breaking
