Looking for someone to swear some iron vows with me and adventure across the Ironlands!

System: Ironsworn. Digital edition available for fee at DriveThruRPG. Ironsworn website also has resources.

We'll be using mechanics from the core rules only. I'll personally use flavor/lore from Delve, the add-on, but not mechanics.

Character Creation: Standard. 3/2/2/1/1 for stats. You can skip the bonds part if you want, and develop them as you adventure.

This world is human-centric, so our characters will reflect that. Non-human PCs will be discussed on a case-by-case basic. No mechanical benefits will be given to non-human PCs.

Party Size: This will be a one-on-one co-op game. So two, just to be clear. 😎

Vibe/Aesthetic/Lore: Default vibe as explained in the books. We can decide on the World Truths together, or roll to randomly generate.

You can create some lore if you want. Points of interest, historical figures, legendary artifacts, etc. Keep it manageable; 5 or less entries to begin with.

Duration: I plan to play Ironsworn long-term, but you aren't obligated to stick around forever. If you want to play one mission and then leave, cool. If you want to play for months and try to fulfill your background vow, also cool.

Activity Requirement: I'm looking for roughly 5 posts a week. If real-life (ugh) comes up, lemme know and we'll work something out. But if your posting rate dwindles long-term, or if you're generally uncommunicative, I'll find a replacement.

Specialized Software and Resources: None. Played entirely on Gamersplane.

Player Experience Requirements: Veterans preferred. Not necessarily of the Ironsworn system, but of PbP in general. Since this is co-op, and we're both technically players and GMs, I'm looking for someone who's ready to jump in and RP up a storm.

Content Warning: For my part, stuff like torture, rape, slavery, and infanticide may be mentioned. No graphic descriptions of these, however.

Foul language may be used.

No erotic roleplay. Fade to black for any sexy stuff.

AI: I use AI stuff.

Now some more detailed stuff about what I'm looking for RP-wise:

Share the spotlight Create interesting situations, respond to them, advance the narrative...but then let me do the same.

Be flexible. Quests shouldn't have pre-planned outcomes. If I zig where you wanted to zag, roll with it.

Accept failure. Just rolled a miss? Make your PC suffer. Facing death? If you die, you die.

Go for it. Feel free to discuss RP options if it's something wacky or narratively important, but I don't want to get bogged down with "should we go right or left" type discussions. As above, forge ahead for a bit, but then stop and give me a "turn."

Don't spam moves. If you fail to Compel, don't keep rolling Compel to try and browbeat someone. Accept the outcome and try a different approach.

And now some "no's": No power-gamers, murderhobos, memesters, or contrarians.

A bit about my RP style: I tend to write meatier posts, and get into the character growth/psychological aspect of things just as much as the "whack foe with weapon" parts.

If it's my "turn" to advance the story, I'm probably going to cook up something dangerous and cool that demands a response. PbP being what it is, I find this necessary to keep the story from dragging.

For character sheets, the Public Repository has some Ironsworn custom sheets. You can also copy and edit this sheet to make your character.

You can also check out the Ironsworn Playtest of Doom to see me in action.

I haven't created the game forum for this co-op yet. I'll post here when I do.

If interested, reply with the following:

1.) Your RP/PbP experience, including if you're familiar with Ironsworn.
2.) Your favorite pizza.
3.) A character concept. You don't have to fill out an entire character sheet at this point. An overview along with your background vow will suffice.

Greetings! If this is still on the offer . . .
1) Lots of RP and PbP experience. I have played Ironsworn several times, mostly solo. Did some guided PbP stuff awhile back for others. I was trying to rationalize purchasing Lodestar--- this might give me justification.
2) GF sausage and mushroom.
3) Character concepts, I tend to focus on arrogant or prideful types that are fun to throw challenges at (those arrogant types are fun to beat up), but also ambitious characters. If we are doing Ironsworn classic....maybe some warrior type: everyone thought was dead. They said the prayers, did the salt-circle rituals and put him in the boggy ground. But he wasn't dead...or maybe he was, but in any case, he had to dig himself out of his own grave. A background vow might be, "I will seek the scale-skinned hierophant who whispered confusions during my death-sleep dreams."

The main caveat here, is posting rate. Lately I've been hitting 1 post/week. Usually I try to keep a response time of 2-3 days... but I have not hit that target recently. Also, I'm GMing several other games and playing in another. I tend to give my oldest running games first priority. So if I only have energy to make one post, the older games get my attention first.

For 2), does GF mean gluten free?

I like your character concept!

Those bastards are always ruining a good sleep.

Unfortunately, the posting rate doesn't work for me. Looking for someone who's committed to 5/week. Otherwise, IMO the game has little momentum, and I feel like I'm doing all the work.

But if your schedule clears up at any point, feel free to re-apply.

Indeed it does mean GF.
Ironsworn is a great game-- and I think it could really shine in PbP. I hope you can get some takers.

GF means...GF?! It's an endless loop!

Kidding. I know what you mean.

It was shining in my playtest, which hopefully will continue at some point. As someone who thinks most systems put the weight of the world on the GM's shoulders, co-op Ironsworn is a godsend.

Bump.

Join me for some co-op, and be the hero this pitiless land needs...or roll a bunch of misses and suffer poetically.

....

I mean...uhhh...it's not that bad, really! You can burn momentum to reverse a bad result!

sly chuckle
