It has been a couple of days since Robin returned with Yazeba and Gertrude after winning back the lost heart. They had had some time to reflect on things and had come to a conclusion that they would like to share with the B&B. So they had called for a "family" meeting.
"Ahum." They started. "As you all know, I'm not always sure of what I want. I've had different jobs, interests and so on." They clear their throat again even though nothing is technically stuck in it. "But I've come to some conclusions that I'd like to share with you all."
"What happened to Gertrude has made me realize that I should not be afraid to follow my heart." They smile warmly at Gertrude when saying this. "I now see that your own heart knows best. And my heart has decided that I want to find out more about my parents. Unfortunately, I can't do that here. So that's why I'm announcing that I will be " At this point they swallow hard. "leaving the B&B."
"I need to go back to where I was born and find some answers." They try to not pay too much attention to the murmers going on in the crowd. "But I wouldn't want to go without leaving a memory." They say. "Please come with me into the garden."
After walking to a nice sunny spot on the lawn, Robin steps up onto a brick platform about 1 meter long and wide. Grackle had set it up for them at their request. There had been some grumbling, but even so it was done nicely.
"I will leave behind a part of me as I'm also taking a part of you all with me in my travels." They tell everyone. Then Robin's body, which was always faintly glowing from the lava running through them, started to glow more brightly. The intensity increased and heat radiated from them. A warm loving heat, like a thick blanket in winter time. Then, starting at their feet, the glow began to fade and Robin's body cooled down until so cold that it hardened into basalt.
When the cooling reached Robin's neck, the glow rose up from their head and a sizable orb of light floated just inches above what used to be Robin. From the mote came their voice. "I hope you don't mind me leaving this here." They say, obviously refering to what's now a statue of Robin in basalt rock. "Oh, and please use pronouns it/its for me now." Another radiance of warmths signaled a feeling that could be compared to smiling.
"Thank you all for what you've meant to me." It says, slowly drifting upwards. "I'm sure I'll be back some day."
After giving everyone the chance to say goodbye, Robin floats its way down the path leading to the woods and the light slowly fades from view. But just in time it still calls out "Oh and I've left a cake in the fridge for all of you! Enjoy!"
And so ends Robin's residence at the B&B.
For now... :)
