Roll all things for leveling up here (HP and whatever else)

HP, please roll. If you get less than the average for your class, feel free to take the average + CON mod as per the chart below

1d4 HD - +3
1d6 HD - +4
1d8 HD - +5
1d10 HD - +6
1d12 HD - +7

I want you guys to have a chance at great health, but feel like you'll face enough threats to those precious HP points that I don't want you all gimped. :)

Per the change to the HP rules I just implemented (since I was dumb and forgot) you can take 5+1 for 6 added HP (putting you at 15). Roll or Average, whichever is highest is what you'll get. :)

Good Deal and the only other change I can see for me is I gain cunning action.
Which lets me take a bonus action to Hide, Dash or Disengage.

Yeah, I think that's all rogues pick up at 2. Not a bad pickup, especially as the Hide part can come in handy in times when the enemy ISN'T engaged in melee. Though with your crew, I imagine those times will be few and far between.

If you take 10 minutes to cut a set of studded leather armor down a bit, yes, it will fit him. He's oddly shaped, being a mushroom and all. He would take the dagger, but he's not skilled with it at all. He'd probably be more effective just hitting people with his hand.

I am going to train Stool to be a Rogue heh heh. Or it might be amazing if Fang trained him to be a Druid or Cemos trained him to be a Paladin. I don't even know if that is possible. Ok cut him armor later since were still on the clock.

As for timing, you've got just about 2 hours until any activity is likely to happen down at your end. Shift change happens in the middle of the normal work party shifts (so there's either a guard change or a work party drop/retrieval happening every 2-ish hours). You're kind of off the clock until that time.

I'd be willing to let one of you train your mushroomy friend and sidekick to a class level. I'll post up details on training NPC followers in a different thread (since I don't think it's exactly a normal system structure. and if it is, I'm gonna make up my own system, with blackjack and hookers......oh wait, wrong universe).

NPC Training posted. I've also update the Loot/Acquisitions page with the current NPC loyalty points. Everyone (pretty much) is at a 2 point ranking with you folks, since you did engineer their escape to this point. As they are not yet free of danger, they haven't increased trust beyond that.

Eldreth has more trust for you because you are (primarily) surface dwellers, and Cemos is a dwarf.
Sarith has less trust for you because he still believes you are scum, even if you did manage to save his life. He primarily went along with this charade because he was so intimidated by you guys at the outset.
Stool is VERY trustful of you guys, partly because of the care you've all shown to keep him safe and the fact that you are using his tools in your grand plan. He loves every minute of it.

So I get spells now and I am not sure how it works. Do I have to choose one spell from the list in the phb or do I have access to all of them and I have to choose what one to rdy when the time comes?

At 4th level we all do, though I dont know if Paladins do earlier.
You also get radiant strike and can trade a spell slot to do radiant damage which is pretty amazing. Your pool of healing points goes up as well.

At defined levels for your class (which I think everyone has the choice at level 4) you can choose to do the following:
*Add 2 points to any stat, without raising it over 20
*Add 1 point to any 2 stats, without raising either over 20
*Take a feat (some of which include a small stat boost and additional mechanics)

As for spellcasting
After each long rest, you can prepare a number of spells up to your charisma modifier plus 1/2 your level rounded down (so in this case, you have a +2 and 1 from the level calculation, meaning you can prepare three different 1st level spells off the paladin list). You currently have 2 spell slots available per long rest.

Paladin Spell Slot usage
You can use your slots to cast spells of appropriate level OR to trigger Divine Smite. With Smite, you choose to use a spell slot in order to deal an extra 2d8 damage to a target you just hit. Doing this will expend a spellslot (so right now you can only do it 2 times for every time you get a full night's rest).

I'm going to rule that those of you that gained spell levels can immediately choose to prepare spells to fill slots you just gained (so no changing spells you already have prepared Bildaweer, as you don't have your spellbook back yet).

@Bildaweer, I will say that you can record any new spells you may have gained for your spellbook on a piece of scrap paper you find in the guard shack.

@BFM, don't forget to pick your fighting style as well at level 2.

And lastly is there a max on the ac buffing I can do, because if I get my plate mail back in think I'll be at 21ac and does it work the same way for fighting styles as it does for spells in that I kinda have access to all of them but can only choose one per long rest?

Yes, there is a mechanical maximum. For example, if you end up wearing full plate (which you shouldn't have had to start, I think pallies only get chain to start. full plate is like 1500 gold), you end up being at 18 AC. If you add a shield to it, you go to 20. If you go Defense style, it goes up to 21.

Beyond that, there are some magical items that would provide you with some additional bonuses on top of that.

And a 21 AC is perfectly fine. Partially because you won't realistically be sneaking anywhere with that get up on. And it's also one of the reasons (mixed with lay on hands) that pallies are some of the best damage soaking tanks out there in 5e.

Ya there is a buff that gives +2 at lvl one , so I think ill go defense unless the max ac is like 23 or something

By mechanical max I mean armor items only go up so high, and you can only have so many magical items or effects at one time. I think the mathematical max is like 43 or 45 all told.

I was thinking of going with the Assassin Archtype, and thought our Eladrin Rogue was going the Arcane Trickster route.
Though my character is ending up nicer and less grim. Drama would it be ok to change to a different Archtype choice since we haven't hit 3rd level yet ?

Absolutely. :) Feel free to use any of the archetypes in the PHB or in the SCAG. Wizards made one of the archetypes from SCAG free to download (The Mastermind). It would fit well with what you are currently playing as. :)

I do like the help action too.

I was thinking going with Arcane Trickster that is why I wanted to talk to Bildaweer. Dustin would be amazed with casting magic but this Mastermind seems like a really good group minded rogue

If you end up going with Mastermind, I'll let you extend your roguish Expertise to the Disguise kit. Forgery, I'll let you pick another kit that you'd like to take proficiency in (pending approval).

If you end up going Arcane Trickster, that could work to. I think playing it off of working with Bildaweer would be awesome, provided wpw is down for it. :)

Yes, if you'd like to forgo the normal ASI and use a feat instead, I'm all for it. Just let me know the summary of your level up changes in here and such (feats vs. ability scores, new spells, yada blahda)

Spell slots stay at 3 and I'm going to keep my spells the same for now.
And I will be taking the heavy armor Master feat which will increase my strength score by 1 and reduce all bludgeoning piercing and slashing damage I receive by 3

Good deal. Please make sure you note (and adjust) your Chain Mail's AC because of the ooze damage. It is permanently reduced by 2 until you can find a town with a blacksmith that can repair it for you.

Ya on the main slot it still says 19 but that's more for me as a new player to remember the original ac. Thereplenish is a note that shows the -2 and why in the margin of my player notes.

You have practiced casting spells in the midst of combat, learning techniques that grant you the following benefits

You have advantage on Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage.
You can perform the somatic components of spells even when you have weapons or a shield in one or both hands.
When a hostile creature’s movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, rather than making an opportunity attack. The spell must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only that creature.

I am thinking all the pc's need to carry one of those health potions on them, I'll be fine because I can heal and if nobody wants the mace I'll take it as a side weapon just incase we run into something that can only be hurt by magic weapons. What does that spell component bag do? Is that something me or fang would need for our spells?

A spell component bag can stand in for material components. A spell focus does the same thing.

Good deal BFM. As a note, you're free to do that after every long rest if you'd like. You don't have to wait for levels to change up your prepared spells.

Yup! In general, my games will always be roll or average, whichever is higher. The only way I'd change that is if we were intentionally playing a game where you were intended to be weak (which seems unfun to me).
