You all remember the madness. It would be in our minds the perfect synthesis of computer and tabletop. This thing in our lives called Neverwinter Nights. I rediscovered it through GOG, now is there anyone that still plays it, still campaigns it? Dwells there in the realms of mystery?
Dec 21, 2016 6:49 am
I still play it every now and then. It was a good romp! Poor Arabeth...
Dec 21, 2016 8:25 am
I'm sure I've got the disc... somewhere
Dec 21, 2016 9:34 am
I just downloaded it through GOG as well. A great game, brings back a lot of fond memories :-)
Dec 21, 2016 10:48 am
Oh man, I played the crap out of that way back! And the Underdark expansion (forgot the title).
Dec 21, 2016 4:16 pm
I was trying to rack my brains at how you can have multiplayer. Would love to get together with a few gameplaners and have a romp!

That would be awesome! I absolutely love the game and multiplayer can be a blast :)

Hordes of the Underdark :)
Dec 21, 2016 5:12 pm
I played the bejeezus out of Hordes. Loved that game and the whole NWN franchise.
Dec 21, 2016 6:15 pm
Anybody know how we would campaign together on NWN?

Well, the official servers are down now, as far as I know. We'd have to do it as a Direct Connect by IP Address. I'll look into it tonight while the wife's at work :)
Dec 21, 2016 6:33 pm
I can't even begin to express how wondrous that would be.
Dec 21, 2016 6:51 pm
I have NWN and NWN2. Never finished 2, though maybe I should go back. I enjoyed 1 a lot more. I may reinstall it now...
Dec 21, 2016 6:57 pm
Dang I'm all about resurrection here at GP aren't I?
For me NWN was all about multiplayer, the campaigns I never finished. Perhaps I will.
Dec 22, 2016 1:37 am
Searches more vigorously for that damn cd....
Dec 22, 2016 1:49 am
You lucky I got them on GoG after buying the game twice as a youth!
Dec 22, 2016 2:36 am
Yeah, it was free on GOG for a day a while back :-)
Dec 22, 2016 3:15 am
Well, setting it up is easy. All you have to do is click Multiplayer > Join Internet Game > Direct Connect > Put in the IP Address of the host.

If anyone wants to try it tonight, just to see if it works so simply, let me know!
Dec 22, 2016 3:18 am
If I remember correctly, I think I saw something dealing with the GOG free NWN copy not working with multiplayer.

Source.

The key all starts the same, but a unique key is also kept in the gog.com account as well. You just have to update it in your installation.
Dec 22, 2016 4:22 am
I could do small multiplayer, you know what the biggest pain is. The massive content updating that you have to do. But if we can find a server where we can all go, I will play. And I played before I even knew what a computer mic is, and now I have one. So, ideas?
Dec 23, 2016 5:29 am
Ok so, can we all multiplayer...

Tonight?
Dec 23, 2016 5:32 am
Well, I can't do it tonight, I have work in the morning. I would be willing to test it to see if it works, though!
Dec 23, 2016 5:35 am
I'll remain logged in for a bit. If you get a chance, try to direct connect to:

75.128.191.18:5121
Dec 23, 2016 5:50 am
Trying but no response, getting a time out error.
Dec 23, 2016 5:53 am
It doesn't look like I can connect.

Edit: Same as above.

Hmm... I'm doing some research now, I'll let you know if I find anything out
Dec 23, 2016 6:07 am
By all means, and just to make sure it is to connect to a LAN game no?

Valdus says:

It'll have to be an Internet game, I believe, since we're not on a network together
Dec 23, 2016 6:11 am
Try again to join.

Go to Join Internet Game, then Direct Connect and enter the following:

IP: 75.128.191.18:5121
PW: game
Dec 23, 2016 6:12 am
Ok the usual NWN-BS, it all came down to mods. It said that it could not download prc_consortium.tlk.

But I can see the game in the list, and ill download that.

Yeah, it should ask for a password
Dec 23, 2016 6:18 am
Hmm... I saw someone join for about half of a second and then they were gone.
Dec 23, 2016 6:18 am
How do you install that prc thing?
Dec 23, 2016 6:20 am
Valdus says:

Oh... I forgot about that... I'll have to remove that in order to allow people in. It's kind of a pain to install, so I'll remove mine
Dec 23, 2016 6:21 am
And hopefully that will take how long?

I just want to say, the server appears but in red. Not sure what that means.

Not to mention it lets me in but I cannot hit the play button.

I can't anymore either...
Dec 23, 2016 6:30 am
Oh alright, because I saw two players and was bloody jealous!
Dec 23, 2016 6:32 am
We can always try tomorrow.
Dec 23, 2016 6:33 am
Hmm... that happened after I uninstalled the PRC... give me a few minutes, I want to try something.
Dec 23, 2016 6:33 am
alright, but losing consciousness...
Dec 23, 2016 6:38 am
I'm up for a while longer if you want to troubleshoot.
Dec 23, 2016 6:41 am
Try again now, if you could :)
Dec 23, 2016 6:42 am
I have to go to bed. Much too much going on and we have a fried turkey to pick up tomorrow. I will be on in the morrow. Looking forward to seeing you at the Keep Naat!
Dec 23, 2016 6:42 am
Looks like it works, the play button is active and... It loads up.
Dec 23, 2016 6:47 am
Well, mission accomplished: it works!

Gonna have to set up a time where we can actually play one of these nights.
Dec 23, 2016 6:48 am
Well I think we just got ourselves a gamers plane NWN session!
Dec 23, 2016 6:49 am
Quick question, what module was that?
Follow up question, does it matter if I don't start at the beginning?

HypCo says:

That was the base story. As far as starting point, we can figure it out. You have anything in mind?
Dec 23, 2016 7:05 am
Well, I've never played the game before so I'm most likely in the minority of wanting to start at the very beginning. If it doesn't matter story-wise though I'm fine with whatever.
Dec 23, 2016 7:11 am
Well, what we started on was chapter one. If you'd like to get the full story, do the prologue yourself, which will get you to level 3 and will prepare you for the rest of the game.
Dec 23, 2016 7:23 am
Oh, I wasn't aware of that, I just saw the starting locations were different and didn't know when it was. I'll have to run through the prologue than. Any idea how long it takes?
Dec 23, 2016 1:52 pm
Probably around an hour
Dec 23, 2016 5:25 pm
Ill either play my original wizard, Orleon Templeton ; or my ranger- Nik Furi. Yeah, made him before that name was popular.

And let me add, I'm up to play at nights. Any chapter. I wonder if Infinite Dungeons is still viable.

I played both of them for hundreds of hours, but don't think I ever completed either single player story. Too busy with the Persistent Worlds...

You gods I loved the persistent worlds!!!
Dec 23, 2016 8:46 pm
Wish we had them now- to go with game planers
Dec 26, 2016 1:12 am
Gaming tonight? If I can it will be late.
Jan 4, 2017 9:13 pm
Is this the same game that's on Steam?

You're probably thinking of Neverwinter, the MMORPG that's relatively new. We're talking about Neverwinter Nights, and old RPG from way back in 2002.
Jan 8, 2017 8:17 pm
Neverwinter of course would serve the same function. A GM can create his own scenarios and any GPers could join up and run through a scenario together (as well as thousands of other player generated stuff) and it's Free to Play
Jan 11, 2017 1:38 am
I would say it is beyond free to play, it is perhaps the most immersive tabletop experience I have ever had on a computer.
