Characters all seem preeeetty neat so far.

So, I looked through the SR Chicago wiki and if I remember right it basically made Chicago out to be some lawless hellhole that is barely kept in check, with only the airport and dock controlled by Ares. Is that the case, or it is a little bit more controlled/civilized than that?

Also, for people that know the system better, please correct me if I screw up some Matrix thing. I'm preeetty certain that I've got it down, but I've GM'd, maybe.. 3 sessions of Shadowrun in my lifetime, and I've never played an all-out Decker.

You guys feel free to take the lead and let my character know what to do/boss him around, haha. My first time playing shadowrun, so I'm just trying to get a feel for everything and not screw up.

I feel like I'm in a similar boat. Gotta read a few sections of the book every time I post to make sure I'm doing this right :p I weirdly like that stuff though. I wouldn't worry about it!

Hell, for most of my posts I need to check the books, then do a google search to see what the forums and the shadowrun reddit says about the subject, then check the books again... And I'm the GM.

I'm starting to remember why I just played a pew pew shooty guy back when I got to play it. But I'm having a good time and hope you have as well.

Makes sense that you'd use the book a lot more. You need to know ALL the rules. I might have to know how to hack, but I don't have to worry about rigging, spells, etc.

And oh yes. The shadowrun subreddit has been a ton of help. I'm having a lot of fun though! Decking might be complicated but it has a lot of options.

According to this flowchart, yes. I haven't had time to check the book and I'm at work currently. But it was also how I seem to remember it being done :)

A note: If the sequencer's wireless capabilities are turned on, then it gains a +1 bonus to its rating. (p. 448) But otherwise yes, that's how it works, as far as I can find.

Fixing the signal repeater is the same procedure as last time.

The trip to the Collective takes around 35 minutes, if you want to go via Janus Industries it won't add much to that time. While it takes 15 minutes to get to Janus Industries from your current position, you can do it on the way.

So do you want to just pass on Janus Industries or at least check it out to maybe figure out what's going on.

So right now we're trying to retrieve a data node, we also have to retrieve this girl (who is likely the escaped test subject from the basement we're in), and we still have one signal repeater to fix?

Yes, a node from the building and finding a girl for someone else. You have fixed both signal repeaters so all that's left is to meet back up with the client and get paid.

Simon Andrews wants to hire the runners to perform a "data retrieval" from "one of S-K’s old lab facilities" in the CZ. Specifically, he’s looking to have the runners retrieve the proof of ownership so S-K can move "back" in. He’s also interesting in finding out whatever the place was researching.

And would such proof of ownership normally be stored in the computer system? (sorry if these questions are obvious to more experienced Shadowrunners). :)

I will be going on vacation for the next two weeks. I'm taking my family to the United Kingdom.

I will have access to wifi on some days, but being vacation, I don't know how much down time I'll have.

The game seems to have slowed down. I know darth is on vacation, but are the rest still around or is it just easter that's slowed things down.

Hey guys, I'm really sorry to say this but I'm going to have to drop out of the game. Life has gotten really busy lately and I'm just not sure I can keep up anymore. Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your game though! It was a lot of fun!

Sad to see you go. And I am sorry as well that I have let this game falter. It takes me ages for each update, and I think it is because I've come to the realization that I really dislike the system. For the simplest action I feel like I am pouring over the rules and I it's gotten to the point where I'm dreading looking up the rules, and once I get the book cracked I feel my eyes just glace over and I feel like I get no retention. Then there's been another delay as I was putting off writing this post, as admiting defeat, however how small in life is no fun.

For this reason I think I will have to drop this game. I am willing to run this mission to it's conclusion, as it is very close. But the system is really giving me a headache.

It's understandable with an unfamiliar system. I hold no hard feeling. And thanks for running this mission to the end. Very much appreciated.

Can we just call this game done? I don't think you need to do more if you're not enjoying it. EVERYONE at the 'table' should be having fun, including the GM.
