A Brief History of the World

Oh hey, you're new here, right? Yeah, I can tell. Okay, I'm gonna get you caught up to speed on stuff so you're not completely lost here.

Should probably start at the beginning. Well, not the actual beginning, beginning of people like us anyway.

"Heroes" have been around since around the late Thirties, but most of them back then were pretty basic, "masked men of mystery" types, with the rare pre-Nova superhumans like Flying Freedom, Kilroy, or Lord Atomic. There weren't a lot of us until a couple decades later.

The Fifties was when things got really weird. It all started when the guy who would end up as Commander Nova just disappeared on his first space flight, and it was like the world just had a switch thrown, letting it know it was allowed to cut loose and try something new. So humans got tough. Like, "nearly impossible to kill" tough. Random accidents turned into origin stories, and the world had a thousand times more superhumans than ever before. They didn't start calling us Novas yet, not until the Commander showed back up in '65. They did think we were a threat though, which is why E.C.L.I.P.S.E. is a thing. They recruited a bunch of us and put us to work learning our own weaknesses, you know, "just in case."

Anyway, the Commander comes back, blah blah, stupidly powerful, etc. etc., we all get named after him, everything's great for a while, up until around the late-80s-early-90s.

See, that was when the world found out about the Nova Project. That was when I looked at the wrong(?) people's heads and learned about the guys in the vantablack suits trying(failing) to make their own(knockoff) Commander. I did some digging, didn't like what I saw, so I broke in there and broke out the people who would end up being my team. Released all the info I could get to the press too, I'm not stupid.

So I did a good thing, right? That's what we're supposed to do, we're superheroes, right? Right, but I saved six people, and then half the world hated us for actively working against them or something. Kept on doing that up until that whole thing with the zombies when we sort of formed the Seven Stars for the first time.

I'm gonna make the rest of this short, nowadays people are pretty okay with novas as long as we're on their side of things. That said, you're probably better off sticking to Halcyon or one of the other nova-heavy cities, at least until you're well-known enough that people outside won't automatically assume you're one of the bad guys.
