The Pitch

This is an experimental solo and mosaic idea. Essentially, everyone that wants to participate will create 1-3 characters that will tell a story within a greater ongoing tapestry of interconnected stories.

The Pitch: Magic exists, but it has be relegated to a shadowy force existing just outside of known world and society. But that is changing, and mankind will have to change with it. Who will gain power? Who will lose it? What will you do when Magic Returns...?!

You will have complete POV control over your characters, but any proliferating creations will exist in a shared universe. Please try to be detailed when you create these "extras" so that other players will understand what you are doing/making.

I will challenge each of you to use a GM emulator or some other external "control entity" to steer drama and conflict within your area of the story.

Things that are needed:
1. City Co-creation: I want a Gotham City like living city. Good RPG examples to draw from are Hudson City and Vibora Bay from Champions as they are more "gritty and real" models. This is a story about mundane people and magical events, so no super heroes.
2. 1-3 personas that are important to you. Where will they live in the city? What do they do?
3. An interesting story arc or set of threats to use against your protagonists.
4. Commitment to see your story through to a conclusion. Think small and let it snowball, if you bite off too much it will overwhelm your discipline.

Structure (For Proposals and Story Arcs)
1. The Five Point Breakdown: This is a simple and powerful method of screenwriting technique that is easily usable in a solo RP method. It consists of 5 points in a story (3 act sturcture) where the narrative is propelled forward. Learn about it here
2. Main Characters: Protagonist and Antagonist. It is important to know who your principle foils are in the story. There are a variety of ways to leverage this, but include them in the proposal.
3. Locations: Knowing the places that will feature in the story is important too. Plan this out in the proposal, and try to bring those locations to life.
4. Extras: who are the other minor characters that will feature in the story. Spend a little time jotting these down in the proposal.

Story Questionnaire: A good idea for advanced writing is to answer questions. Sometimes you need this to get to the correct prompts, other times you don't. Read this
