Nice!

For a little help with background, there's a randomised set of elements you can roll for:
Ideology/Beliefs 1d10
Significant People 1d10
Meaningful location 1d10
Treasured Possession 1d10
Traits 1d10

Ideology: Politics (Chose your flavour)
Significant people: Child (well that fits!) Roll d10 to see why significant
Location: A place for quiet contemplation ( library, country walks , fishing)
Possession: Your collection (bus tickets, stuffed animals, records?)
Trait: Good with animals (loves cats, grew up on a farm, good with horses? etc)

Feel free to use or discard as you like, but you need to pick one as your key element, the thing that centres you (used to increase sanity)
Feb 27, 2017 11:54 am
Politics: I know it's only 1931 (Maybe 1932 if the game was latter in the year), and Marc is Portugese not spanish, but in thinking something loosely related to the Spanish revolution of 1936. Maybe he has some socialist ideologies he's pushing in the local community. But I hardly think this is his key element.

Child: Tommy obviously. This will probably be my key element, but I want to resolve this random element before commuting...

A place of quiet: Marc loves to catch the bus towards Taunton and get off on the country for a nice long ramble. He so rarely has the chance to do so tho as he is so busy looking after Tommy and is loathed to leave him alone.

Collection: Marc has squired a modest art collection, some his own work (these are rarely displayed), but also from a variety of local talent. His apartments walls are in a state of near constant flux as he switches out what works are on display. This is also probably a major factor (if I can have more then one/ the randomness on Tommy's significance makes it a sourc of stress).

Good with animals: Tommy always wanted a pet, so when a friend of his said they had two young Thekla Larks that needed a home he was more then happy to oblige. The birds get along well with the human residents of his apartment and are allowed to roam free except at night. They have never tried to escape so far...

Rolls

Why is Tommy significant... - (1d10)

(9) = 9

You have to prove yourself better than them. - Probably want to disregard this (unless Mark is really messed up!)

You key element can change from time to time if you choose, but should be one at any one time.
Feb 27, 2017 8:25 pm
I will disregard that and just set...

Child: Tommy is Marc's son. The time he spends with Tommy is somewhat refreshing, but still filled with stress. He wants his done to have a good childhood despite the lose and this burden does tax him at times.

I'll go with the Art Collection as my key element at the moment.

OK so the switching is probably what he does for "therapy". Would you like to do that during this period for a chance at recovering some Sanity (or possibly losing more?)
Feb 27, 2017 9:37 pm
In addition, let me know what else you might be doing in the intervening time
Feb 28, 2017 4:22 am
Sure lets do that "Therapy". What do I need to roll to see how terrible that is?

I think Marc has tried to live his life like normal, but the loss of mister gardiner really hit him hard. He has become somewhat dispassionate. He has taken to painting more regularly in an attempt to deal with the trauma.

Ok it's simply a Sanity roll. As you are using your key connection ( you are able to do this without it but for the first time and as a demonstration of the system, you are using it this time) you get to roll the 'tens' twice, so roll d100 and an additional d10 and take the best results.

Rolling... Ok so depending on how I pass (roll above, roll below), I pass. How much do I regain?
Last edited February 28, 2017 8:38 am

Rolls

Sanity (51) - (1d100, 1d10)

1d100 : (70) = 70

1d10 : (4) = 4

Feb 28, 2017 11:51 am
In this instance you need to roll below. As your second roll (40) succeeded, you succeed.

Gain 1d6 Sanity to your current
Feb 28, 2017 7:58 pm
Regain... Really Marc? So that's 2 San points back on 2d6...

San regen - (1d6)

Aside from painting, has Marc been doing anything else in the intervening three months? Training, Therapy ?
Also you need to make a roll to see if you recover any luck.
Mar 7, 2017 11:37 am
I already handled luck recovery.

As for anything else... I don't think he would have gone in for therapy, at this stage he's trying to help himself, especially considering his relationship with Gardiner.

I do think, considering he gained 6 brawl, that there was a rocky style montage in there somewhere :)
Mar 7, 2017 12:12 pm
OK, given he's probably spent a fair amount of time painting, let's have a training roll. As he only has 5% in Art, should be fairly easy on a 1d100, success giving you another 1d10 points on the skill.
Mar 7, 2017 7:04 pm
He's at 60% arts/craft painting. I think I put it into the character sheet as just painting...

Rolls

Painting (60) - (1d100)

(87) = 87

Improvement - (1d10)

(2) = 2

Genisisect says:

Ah sorry missed that. Anyway, there's some improvement following three months practice and study :)
