Sanity roll? Did I. It's the 1d6
Feb 25, 2017 2:10 am
I did the sanity roll on this page. I can do it again here if you want though.
Feb 25, 2017 8:52 am
My apologies. Missed that roll! No need to reroll.

I'd also like to know what each character is doing in the 4 months since the incident at the lodgings. It may involve training a particular skill, reading or researching something, buying something, finding new work or just living your life! ~~Use your character thread for this.
After this incident, Valentin would become a shut-in, buying a ridiculous amount of deadlocks and a shotgun for home defense. I don't know my spending limit or the cost, so I'll opt for a handgun if the shotgun is out of my price range. He'll use the rest of the time to train with whichever gun he can afford.
Feb 25, 2017 10:49 am
Feel free to flesh out Valentin's background a little. Those survival and firearms skills might have an interesting story, and why is he so interested in other people's business?
Feb 25, 2017 2:02 pm
For a little help with background, there's a randomised set of elements you can roll for:
Ideology/Beliefs 1d10
Significant People 1d10
Meaningful location 1d10
Treasured Possession 1d10
Traits 1d10
Feb 25, 2017 2:15 pm
I've noted Valentin's assets and cash on hand on the sheet. The deadbolts can come from his daily budget, however, a shotgun should either come from his cash savings ($40) or his assets ($1000)

a 20 gauge will cost $35
16 gauge $40
12 gauge $40

Ammunition you can get 25 shells for $30

amend your money accordingly.
Feb 25, 2017 11:43 pm
After 3 months of training with your shotgun, so make a roll on your skill and increase by 1d10 if you get over.
Feb 26, 2017 2:01 am
I'm imagining Valentin used to serve in the army, giving him the survival and combat training. His interest in people come from him being a bit of a brown-noser; while in the army he'd snoop on his fellows and report their dealing to the higher ups for "good credit". This practice made a lot of the other soldiers pretty upset so they would bully him until Valentin decided he could handle it anymore and got discharged; sadly the snooping habit stuck.

I'll purchase the 12 gauge and 50 shells; total $70.

Rolls

Ideology/Beliefs - (1d10)

(8) = 8

Significant People - (1d10)

(2) = 2

Meaningful Location - (1d10)

(7) = 7

Treasured Possession - (1d10)

(10) = 10

Traits - (1d10)

(4) = 4

Firearms (Rifle/Shotgun) (50) - (1d100)

(88) = 88

Firearms (Rifle/Shotgun) increase - (1d10)

(5) = 5

Ideology: Politics (Conservative, Socialist, Liberal etc)
Significant person: Grandparent (roll 1d10 to see why significant)
Meaningful Location: The grave of a significant person
Treasured possession: a pet
Traits: Hedonist (life and soul of the party, entertaining drunk, live fast die young !)

Feel free to use or discard any of these as you see fit. Choose one as your key element, the one thing you can use to centre yourself (increase sanity)
Feb 27, 2017 8:19 am
Ideology: Most likely discard (because me as a person, know nothing of politics).
Significant Person: Grandpa (A feeling of regret; he should've died in their place)
Meaningful Location: The grave of Grandpa
Treasured Possession: A pet macaw (Key Element)
Trait: Entertaining Drunk
OOC:
Ooh, that works out perfectly.

Rolls

Significant why? - (1d10)

(8) = 8

Feb 27, 2017 9:16 am
Significance a feeling of regret (eg you should have died in their place, you fell out over something you said, didn't step up when you had the chance)
Feb 27, 2017 5:48 pm
Do you do something in particular with your pet that helps you centre (and are you planning to do it during this 3 month period)

I thought this is what I did.

As for the bird, Valentin feels it is the only unbiased company he can find. I figure he doesn't have to many people find of him, on account of the snooping.
Feb 27, 2017 6:30 pm
Yes, that question was immediately before you made the roll :)

Does he do something special with it to centre himself? (talk to it, take it for a flight out? )This should be an activity that you don't do every day, but can do between adventures to calm yourself.
Feb 27, 2017 6:37 pm
Oh okay, I got you now. I'd say to centre himself comes from taking it out (maybe a visit to his grandpa's grave), because he would most likely talk to it everyday.
Feb 27, 2017 9:38 pm
OK sounds good. As well as training, would you care to do that at some point in this 3 month period. This may result in increased Sanity with a chance of losing more.
Feb 28, 2017 2:02 am
Sure, let's do it.
OOC:
I believe that is the correct roll.

Rolls

Sanity (50) - (1d100)

(52) = 52

Feb 28, 2017 8:03 am
Ok it's simply a Sanity roll. As you are using your key connection ( you are able to do this without it but for the first time and as a demonstration of the system, you are using it this time) you get to roll the 'tens' twice, so Roll an additional d10 and take the best results.
Feb 28, 2017 8:17 am
Is this another roll over, if not can I use luck?
Current Sanity: 50
After: 59
Last edited February 28, 2017 8:17 am

Rolls

Sanity gain - (1d10, 1d10)

1d10 : (9) = 9

1d10 : (4) = 4

Feb 28, 2017 12:00 pm
rolls 52 or 92, both failed :( No luck with Sanity rolls I'm afraid.

Disaster!

During his trip to the graveyard, his pet macaw gets out of his cage and flies away!

-1 sanity
Feb 28, 2017 12:12 pm
Oooh okay I understand what you meant now. I was a bit confused but I get you now.
Current sanity: 49
Feb 28, 2017 1:46 pm
Yes sometimes you get a bonus die, meaning you roll the tens twice (so 1d100 and an additional 1d10) and take the best result. Alternatively, you might have a penalty die meaning you rolls tens twice and take the worst result.
Mar 7, 2017 11:26 am
You can also make a roll (1d100) to recover 1d10 luck (if you roll over your present score)
Mar 7, 2017 11:37 am
...

Rolls

Luck (38) - (1d100)

(66) = 66

Upon success - (1d10)

(5) = 5
