BS-10 breaks the ice, speaking directly to Lissewa as he moves toward her. "Your associates have returned, Mistress. Is there anything else? Drinks, perhaps? I'm happy to serve, at your pleasure."

It would seem that 8th Special Operations, code name Veil Piercer, has regrouped.

Rejoice.

Keeping his distance, Hawke addressed the newcomers and asked the question sure to be on everyone's mind.

"Greetings Unnamed-Organics, do you have an intragalactic multi-phasic frequency modulator or any parts with which to assemble such a device?"

Lissewa smiled at her BS-10 security droid, that she colloquially refers to as 'Sebastian'. "No, Sebastian, we will be able to handle things on the ship ourselves. If you would, please keep a look out for any uninvited guests. As long as we stay on the ship we'll be vulnerable to ambush."

As BS-10 proceeds to carry out her direction, he stops for only a moment to stare at Lissewa, his robotic face emotionless. He leaves without a word, exiting the ship and conducting patrols of the hangar and lobby at a predetermined interval calculated in his computer systems.

Lissewa on the other hand, pays her droid no mind because now she turns her attention to her returning comrades. "Oh, it is great to see you all. I am so glad to finally see you are all unhurt, not that I had any doubt that you were in any danger. My time, while not quite as exciting as yours I'm sure, has been very enlightening. I have been speaking with Nash, the contact that Zhaff set us up with and we have been discussing on how to proceed with out mission. You are free to join us, of course."

She returned to her seat and looked at Nash, waiting to see if he had a response to Hawke's request. She was pretty sure she knew the answer at this point, which annoyed her a small amount.

Tajanna stared at Nash with a shocked look on her face for just a moment, then quickly forced a more natural expression, and sat down at the seat opposite Lissewa's.

"Nice to see you alive and well, too, Lissi. We were worried that something bad had happened on your end, given your radio silence for most of the night. It's relieving to see that that apparently wasn't wasn't the case."

Tajanna then reached reached into her backpack, and pulled out the breath mask she had borrowed from Lissewa's survival kit, and slid it across the table towards Lissewa.

"Oh, before I forget. I managed to procure my own respirator. You can have yous back."

Now this is certainly an interesting development. I'll have to see how it plays out for the moment.
Feb 20, 2017 5:51 pm
Lexi smiled inside her mind. Interesting. So we were out fighting through all manner of vagrants and such, and this one has been having a pleasant talk with our contact. I wonder how much of our mission she's divulged.

"So, Nash, tell us a bit about yourself. How do you propose to assist us in our goals?" Lexi said, not wanting to give any information away in case Lissi had needed to fabricate some bits of their presence on the planet. Taking a position near the side of the lounge, she found a comfortable place on the wall to lean while they had their conversation.

Just Lissi with a contact and two guards. If it comes to the fighting, we'll need to make sure the guards are incapacitated quickly. Another leap like the Espo got should take care of one, though I imagine this one would be more aware than the last fool was. Shame by carbine is still on the ship. That would be the idyllic place to be, at the far end of the room blaster in hand.
Feb 20, 2017 10:35 pm
Nash, this man's name is Nash. The outrage of it all; the comfortable familiarity of the man she entertains as if she had just meet him. Then the audacity to negotiate, some kind of deal with this criminal without informing the rest of us. Any viloent move performed here would ensure a fight, a fight that might cost one or several of there lives. The best play here is to go along with the play. Listen and observe for the moment, perhaps some details about the end game will be revealed.

Krosus slows his breathing and opens himself to the force, hoping to catch the emotional state and thoughts of the human Named Nash.

Hawke says:
"Greetings Unnamed-Organics, do you have an intragalactic multi-phasic frequency modulator or any parts with which to assemble such a device?"
One of Nash's bodyguards, or what you assume are bodyguards, takes a condescending interest in Hawke's question. "Oh, of course I do." The sarcasm is thick. "I always have one of those on me. You know, or the parts to ma--"

Nash cuts him off without so much as a look in his direction, voice raised, but controlled. "That's quite enough. These are new business associates. As such, you will, accordingly, show the respect due." The witty bodyguard instantly goes silent, eyes drifting toward his feet. Silent moments of tension pass. The other bodyguard looks at the witty one, and just shakes his head.

Eyes still focused on the recent arrivals, Nash continues, his words relaxed and methodically cadenced. "What he means to say is that he doesn't have one, but he might know something about getting one, although I doubt it would be as simple as dropping the credits at the local MechTronics." He pauses briefly. "My apologies for the outburst. Good help can be so hard to find." He fixes an icy glare toward the witty bodygaurd, who looks up at Nash briefly, fear written all over his face.
Lexi says:
"So, Nash, tell us a bit about yourself. How do you propose to assist us in our goals?"
Nash smiles at Lexi as he opens up a small metal case. "Well, I suppose..." he pulls a deathstick out of the case, "you could say I'm a businessman. Somewhat similar to corporate, but much less active when it comes to profiting by legal methodologies." Lighting the deathstick, he takes a long drag. "In fact, despite my position as an Espo Investigator, the truth is that my most profitable, and, of course, less than legal business practices are largely based on my membership in an organization known as the Corporation. It gives me a power base of sorts to work with. You understand."

He looks at Lissewa, the hint of a smile on his face as he smooths his hair straight back with both hands, deathstick jutting straight out from his mouth. "Although recent events in the past few months have seen my position within that organization usurped, and I find myself demoted in a sense, unofficially you could say, working street level again. More like an entrepreneur these days. Not that I mind. Reminds me of when I was younger."He looks wistful for someone who couldn't be older than 30, at most.

Nash gave both of his bodyguards a brief look, then nodded toward the door. "Wait in the corridor." The two men immediately walk out of the lounge, door sliding shut behind them.

Another hit from his deathstick, and Nash continues, attention focused back on Lexi and the new arrivals. "How can I help you? Well, if the Sith have plans for taking a majority shareholder's interest in the Corporate Sector, you'll want to start with Kraspen, which is essentially the capital of Bonadan, which, in turn, is the crown jewel and distribution hub for the entire Corp Sector and all of the systems it controls. And, if you want to make that happen, I've got connections, insight, both legal, and less than, which should prove invaluable. And the ambition."

He ponders for a moment, then his tone becomes less cordial, much more direct, forthcoming, and right to the point. "Lissewa has filled me in on the grand strategy, although I'll assume not every detail. But, I think I know enough. What I hope to gain out of this is power, and position. At the very least, Lissewa and I have discussed positioning me as the controlling member of the Executive Board on Bonadan. A power play. Someone to serve as a figurehead, I would imagine, a willing partner in the Sith's ambition for galactic dominance. And the Sith plan is a sound one. The Corporate Sector is one big business. Take control of the top positions, and the CSA will be yours, giving you the power base and foothold you need to more capably move forward from there, although the Empire and the New Republic are not to be trifled with."

He takes another long drag from his death stick. "As far as specifics for the immediate plan? Placing me at the top of the Corporation would be a good start. Granted, it's not the same as being on the Executive Board, but putting me in the seat of power for Bonadan's premier criminal organization is an excellent start."

He glances again at Lissewa, smokes, then puts out the deathstick. "I believe, however, that your associate Fleshcrawler would need to be dealt with first, on the path to taking over the Corporation. You see, it would appear that he's the reason for my recent, albeit, unofficial demotion, and the one who did this." He gestures towards the web of scars on the left side of his face. "Lissewa and I have come to a sort of conclusion that your Fleshcrawler may have inserted himself into the Corporation, and seeks to gain power for himself, rather than perform his duties for the Sith. That is, of course, assuming we're right about the whole thing."
Feb 21, 2017 10:13 pm
FLeshcrawler would not betray the cause, in fact his slaughtering of the gangs that had been awaiting for them when they first arrived was evidence enough that he was on their side. So everything these two are talking about is pure bantha podoo. Of course they will have to play along with this until they could make contact with fleshcrawler.

Krosus speaks up after relaxing his body posture. For a minute he had forgotten how tensed he was in anticipation of combat, but the combat facing them now was of the verbal type. This is very insightful information, you have brought us Nash and disturbing as well if your suspencions are correct about Fleshcrawler. I agree that a partnership with you would be a wise course of action for us. However the final descion will be up to the rest of the group. Krosus gives a brief glance at his comrades around the room.

Of course where are my manners, would anyone care for some caf? I could brew us a fresh pot in no time.

Hopefully the others take my que and decide to go along with this, that is of course until we have all of the facts.
Feb 21, 2017 11:50 pm
Lexi smiled as Krosus volunteered to brew a pot. That would be wonderful Krosus. she said with a smile.

Interesting. Well, more interesting I suppose. This one, that we had no clue about prior to setting out that just happened to be a friend of one of the only ones left alive in the slaughter upon our arrival is perfectly poised as a pawn to be used? Plus he knows all about the Sith? Just how much did she reveal in the short time we were gone? I do not like this. Back home if I were to accept just - any.... her thoughts trailed off as she flicked her eyes around the room. If I were home, I'd be serving as a proper Eye, not out here trying to play corporate matchmaker and architect of schemes. This isn't my training! I live to serve the Divine just as the Divine serves to fuel my rage. an almost imperceptible nod as Lexi shook her head slightly.

If you are as connected as you say, how would you suggest we insert you into Corporation's top spot? You're a known quantity to these people, and seem to be on the outs. Lexi cocked her head to one side lightly, trying to draw out anything that would reveal more.

CCL, I forgot to mention that you needed 2 total force points to activate the Sense power you wanted: 1 for the Basic, 1 for the upgrade. To make sure you're aware, whenever you use a power, you can tap into *one* Light Side point by flipping a Destiny token, but you have to make that decision and let me know.

You're right about the Charm drama. Remember though, if there is a shred of untruth to what you're saying, it requires a Deception roll.

Also, just to remind everyone, keep in mind that you can, at times, combine some social skills, if you so desire, and your dialogue/actions make sense with your check. See the Rules on Social Interactions in the Library as a refresher on how social skills are used.

Lissewa curls her lips into a smile. "Well, you see, Nash was once a well respected member of the Corporation, only to find himself pushed back into serving as someone's lackey. The fact that he wasn't simply killed in order to usurp his position shows that any means to exert your position within the Corporation must be respected."

Lissewa stood from her seat and walked over to Nash. She moved to place her hand on his shoulder. "Simply put, we will do what we came here to do. To use our prodigious abilities to enact change within the structure of Bonadan. We start by eliminating those who would seek to destroy us by taking their power for our own. As we continue to gain power, it will open up opportunities for us to move farther up the ladder. Nash's master was able to get to his position within the corporation in a matter of months and he didn't have an elite force such as ourselves propping him up."

She walked away from Nash and toward the center so that all eyes were on her. "And regardless of the identity of the Master, he is a known threat. Nash confided in me when we decided to work together. The gang that we encountered upon our arrival was sent by him to eliminate us, by order of this Master."

She folded her arms and adopted a stoic expression. She acted as if this were something that was obvious and would therefore lead to the conclusion that they had already discussed.

"I'll have mine with two blue milk and one synthsugar, please."

Tajanna smirked in Krosus's direction, and then turned her attention to Nash and Lissewa, adopting a thoughtful but somewhat skeptical look on her face.

"If this 'Master' sent a gang to eliminate us, then who sent the second gang that fought them? And what exactly are the specific actions we are to take with this 'prodigious abilities' of ours, other than some vague notion of gaining power and eliminating enemies?"

This information doesn't yet conflict with what's already known. It's possible that Nash is actually sincere in his intentions, but I don't want to commit to anything rash before knowing more. I also don't like how much Nash already seems to know about us and our mission, and I question Lissi's judgement if she's the one who revealed it to him, but there's little that can be done about that now. Other than just killing him, I suppose.

"I'll pass."

Need more information. Too many unknowns.

"Nash, Lissewa, tell us everything that happened starting when we split up."

Krosus says:
...I agree that a partnership with you would be a wise course of action for us....would anyone care for some caf? I could brew us a fresh pot in no time.
Nash perked up at the thought of refreshment. "Although I am most appreciative of your offer, perhaps you could put together one more glass of Corellian brandy, if it's not too much trouble? I find alcohol to be my personal drink of choice during these kinds of conversations."
Lexi says:
"If you are as connected as you say, how would you suggest we insert you into Corporation's top spot? You're a known quantity to these people, and seem to be on the outs.
Nash gave an immediate reply, confidence oozing. "By guile, or force, much as my Mast-" he shook his head "this Master, who inserted himself into the Corporation. I won't be his pawn anymore, and although I may be on the 'outs' now, as you say, there are those in the Corporation who would be thrilled if I assumed a position of power, especially leadership, as their star would rise again, with mine."
Lissewa says:
"...We start by eliminating those who would seek to destroy us by taking their power for our own. As we continue to gain power, it will open up opportunities for us to move farther up the ladder."
He looks at Lissewa with a nod. "She's got the right of it. We take the power that would most serve our purpose. Careful elimination of one's enemies is an excellent means of doing so, its greatest quality being that it tends to prevent them from seeking vengeance."
Tajanna says:
"If this 'Master' sent a gang to eliminate us, who sent the second gang that fought them? And what exactly are the specific actions we are to take with this 'prodigious abilities' of ours, other than some vague notion of gaining power and eliminating enemies?"
Nash's tone was somewhat apologetic. "First off, allow me to say that by no means was that my idea, to have you attacked by the Dead Floaters. The 'Master', as he likes to be called by those who serve him, willingly or not, forced my hand. He enjoys torturing those who fail to meet his demands, and I have come to appreciate not being in excruciating pain." You can see the recollection in his eyes, followed by an almost invisible shudder. "He has the most... peculiar device. An imperceptible weapon in his palm. Some new tech that streams bolts of electricity." He looks at Lissewa, then addresses everyone. "As I told her, I'm done being his lackey."

Nash's attention turned toward Tajanna. "As far as who sent the Mech-Zecutives to the spaceport? No idea. Perhaps there's more going on than we're aware of, or maybe it's as simple as the Mech-Zecs somehow picking up on the DF's plan, then making a play of their own."

His finger absent-mindedly taps at the deathstick case on the table. "As far as specific actions, well, that depends on how you want to play it. I'm more than willing to help, but if I'm going to take on leadership of the Corporation when the dust settles, it's better off if I stay in the background. Perhaps the 'Master' disappears, and I take back what is mine? Maybe more, depending on how many who's disappear in conjunction with our efforts to exert authority."

Nash pushed the case away as he relaxed into the comfortable cushions of the lounge table's seating. He addressed everyone now. "Lissewa and I talked about my role being that of a figurehead for the Sith Empire, a face to rule over Bonadan and the CSA's Executive Board. I believe, with... the right kind of support, namely yours, I can attain that position and play that part masterfully, smoothing the transition of power in the CSA over to the Sith. This would allow your Lords to exercise control from the shadows, until they desire to make their presence fully known to the galaxy. In the end, I would like to think you and yours would come to appreciate my talents, and efforts, as part of your empire's endeavors to dominate the galaxy."
Hawke says:
"Nash, Lissewa, tell us everything that happened starting when we split up."
Nash chuckles at Hawke's question. "Well, I don't know quite when you split up, so I imagine Lissewa would be far more capable of answering that."

You guys have options here as far as your next major move, some more obvious than others. There are no rails here, and whatever path you want to set out on is entirely your choice.

I don't want you to feel hurried, and neither am I remotely suggesting you're taking too long, but I want to remind you that time isn't stopping for you in the game, and the powers that be/characters in the game have their own agendas and timelines, as the game world around you is by no means static, waiting on you. In the simplest mechanical terms, I do have a timeline of events that can and will occur in the game, which naturally will, depending, react and sometimes change accordingly to your actions, which may, in turn, affect the if, how, when, etc of that timeline. In sum, I try to make your game world as real as possible.

Corellian brandy is no problem. Krosus responds with a cordial smile. Drinks coming up.

Krosus steps behind the counter of the autochef, his walk slow with eye's averted toward the flooring as the thoughts come flooding through his mind about the thoughts he captured from the man named Nash. What did he do to Lissia? Does he have a force user on his side? If so is it possible that she could be under the influence of some force power or chemical concoction. Or she could still be acting on her own. Which was the most logical assumption. The man was alone with them at the moment, all he had to do was drop a NEUROPARALYTIC toxin in his brandy and in no time they would get the answers they needed. This would also draw out Lissa's true allegiance. No,No,No too risky at the moment. He needs to get Lexi or Tajanna alone so he could tell them what he had learned.

Lissewa nodded. "Yes, of course you would all like to know how we even came to this arrangement. Nash demonstrated his resourcefulness to me during the time we were separated. Soon after I contacted him you all got into trouble. He deemed it prudent in our situation to leave as quickly as possible."

She stopped her story and moved towards the bar with Kross in order to help carry drinks back. "He insisted that we move quickly and quietly. Apparently, he has some pull in the area. We were able to leave out the back without any interruptions. He took me to another building behind the bar that he had access to where we were able to lay low for a minute to wait for a good time to leave. He had a ride waiting for us on the other side. With all this preparation, it was clear he is a professional who is always thinking ahead about how to deal with any situation. I admired that quality in him, I thought to myself he would fit in well with the Empire. At the time he insisted that he take me back to his Master. I only realized after the possibility that he was taking me into danger but he made it pretty clear to me he has no love for the person he serves. I saw that his ambition outweighed his fear of those he served and so I took a chance. I convinced him to come here instead and I shared information with him. All of it. And that is how we came to our accord. He believes we are who we say we are and are able to grant him the power he desires should our mission be successful."

Tajanna made a show of yawning, and then again addressed Nash.

"Although I am as eager to further our goals as you are to further yours, we have been out investigating in the city since we've landed here, and I quite frankly can't strategize at optimal capacity without a full night's rest. I propose that we get our refreshments, and then retire for some sleep, and continue this discussion in earnest after then."

Retiring for some rest should give all of us the opportunity to talk privately, which we sorely need before making any decisions here. And I really am quite tired, and I suspect that the rest of us are too.
Feb 23, 2017 3:27 pm
Nash gives Tajanna an appreciative look. "You know, I imagine that some rest, and a chance for all of you to catch up, might be in order." At that, he stands up, gives Lissewa his com code, and makes his way across the lounge, stopping at the door. "You know, it might be wise of you to relocate your ship. Perhaps a new hangar, on the other side of the spaceport? If 'Master' knows you're here, there's nothing to prevent him from coming back."

Expectant, Nash waited a moment, then added, "I can cover the cost, set you up for the month, assuming you'll be here awhile. Otherwise, it's 100 credits a day, or 2000 credits a month. Either way, staying in 1294-K seems like bad, potentially fatal, business." Confidence blooms on his face. "This is, by the way, one of the many ways I can facilitate your success. I urge all of you to consider what I bring to the table."

He nods politely at Tajanna, addressing her. "That is, of course, after you're all well rested, and ready to go at it again." Speaking to everyone, he finishes. "If there is nothing else, I'll take my leave. Lissewa can call me at her convenience, and I can arrange for the new hangar, once a decision has been agreed upon."

At that, Nash will exit the ship. If further efforts are made to talk with him, he'll insist that he has other business to attend to and that you should all take the time you need to hash things out. The only way you'll be able to actually stop him from leaving is the use of force.

Lissewa can, of course, call him after he leaves, if you all decide to take him up on his offer to cover the cost of a new hanger; there's no need to RP that, just let me know.

It's my last narrative post for the week, but after your narrative post, the rest of you can talk as much as you like until Monday, as it will help move the story along, potentially to the point where you're finished resting, and ready to make your next move. Of course, don't feel obligated to do so, I just thought it worth pointing out the convenient timing to do so, if you like, as this seems a point for you to talk among yourselves, and decide upon your next course of action. If we were literally at my house, at a table, this would be one of those times where I could walk away for a couple of minutes as you guys sort things out and brainstorm.

Feel free to use the OOC for any additional planning or talking you might want to do that's not in character. Much like players at an actual table, planning, figuring things out, etc can often be done out of character, and it can be much simpler to do so this way.
Feb 23, 2017 6:11 pm
Lexi watched as Nash exited the ship, holding her tongue until the hangar door beyond hissed closed.

So, Lissi, busy day for you it would seem. Now that our friend is gone, we should all catch up. As much or as little as I may trust this man, I think the advice about moving hangars may be a strategically sound measure. Let's have a meal and fill one another in on what happened and why you were comfortable enough with this contact to give so many details to him.

Moving hangars IS wise. I don't know that letting him pay for it is, but we can't likely afford to pay for one for too long without some assistance.
Feb 23, 2017 7:33 pm
With the suggestion of rest, Lissewa realized just how tired she felt. With the events that had taken place during the day, the stress was certainly starting to get to her. She didn't want to admit to the others how she felt. After all, she was specially chosen for this mission and didn't want to be seen as a burden or worse a threat to the mission's success.

She prepared herself for the conversation that would soon take place by gathering some of her favorite foods and taking a seat at the table.

"Well I for one would very much like to know what you all have seen. I assume I'm not the only one that has made progress towards achieving our goal. And we can move after we have a bit of rest. If we don't take Nash up on his offer, we can at least afford a few days in order to find a new source of funding."
Feb 23, 2017 7:48 pm
Tajanna adopted a more relaxed posture after the departure of Nash, and pulled her datapad out of her backpack, and clicked around on it while addressing her teammates.

"I found this holo-recording on one of the droids that ambushed us earlier today. Shortly after you left us, Lissi. It will explain why I was a tad startled when I first saw your new friend."

Tajanna slid her datapad towards the centre of the lounge's table, as it lit up the space above it with a holographic video.
Ezeriah says:
It's from the droid's perspective, naturally, from a perspective where the droid is standing behind what you can only assume is one of the Rodians you encountered.

Most of the audio is gone, but from what you can see from the memory fragment, the setting is poorly illuminated in pale blue light. Central to the image is a man of moderate of height and build for a human, rather well dressed, wearing a sharp business suit. Behind him it's extremely dark, and based on the lighting it seems like another room behind him, although you can't make out any details. Although there are occasional blank spots and distortions in the stored memory, from what you can see he was likely an extremely attractive man at one point. However, the left side of his face is almost completely covered with scar tissue, a fairly thorough pattern of what seem to be burn marks, starting at his chin and partially extending into his hairline, leaving a bald spot in what is otherwise a full head of black hair. His business style hair cut would look smartly styled, if it wasn't for the fact that it was parted toward the bald spot in a vein attempt to cover it up. Throughout, it is clear that the scarred man is doing the talking, and the Rodian is listening.

During the playback on Tajanna's datapad, the only audio you pick up in the middle is the scarred man saying "Just keep them--", a condescending look accompanied by "that's what the droids are for, you imbecile!". Towards the end, it's clear the Rodian had some words to say with some excited looking arm waving, but you don't pick them up. However, the last useful bit of the memory fragment gives you this, from the scarred man to the Rodian: "Remember, I don't tolerate failu-- -- ---," lips move, but there's no sound in spots. It continues, a cold glare coming from the scarred man, aimed at the Rodian. "Keep th-- in m---. If --- fee- piss star- -- ru- --wn yo-- leg. If th-- don't k--- ---, I will."

You see the Rodian nod, as the scarred man turns around and disappears into the darkness. Then the Rodian moves off screen to the left. It cuts out, black and glitchy for moments, then the last images you see are the most recent, a certain group of Sith with red lightsabers cutting their way through some droids in a dark alley.

Lissewa watches the holo-recording lazily. Nothing she saw there really surprised her. And now they knew why he did what he did. His attitude towards the Rodian wasn't surprising either after what she had seen him be capable of. She tried not to let to much of this show on her face but it would be clear that she was simply to tired to hide her apathy towards what she saw in the video.

"I suppose that explains what happened to the four of you. Were you able to identify who your assailant was, who they were affiliated with?"

Unfortunately we were forced to avoid the authorities before we could question the surviving rodian. Interrogation would have been fun, keeping him on topic with a slap from his severed arm. Shall we continue this in the morning?
Feb 24, 2017 5:56 pm
Tajanna gave an inquiring glance to Krosus and Hawke, and then continued discussing with the group at large.

"Yeah, the recording isn't particularly informative now, given that we've had the chance to actually chat with Nash. We could ask him tomorrow for further details on the rodians if anyone's really curious, but I doubt that they were anything more than hired local street thugs. And as for switching hangers, doing so has my vote.

Tajanna paused for a moment, in order to collect her thoughts and to phrase her words properly.

"I also think that, as our only contact of any power or significance at this point, we should make the appearance of cooperating with Nash for the time being, and leave the decision of whether to ultimately follow through with his plan or to dispose of him to a later date."
OOC:
Given that Krosus and Hawke are hiding their conversation from the group at large, would it be appropriate to make a Perception (or other relevant skill) check to see if Tajanna can overhear their whispers, or would that fall under the "no PvP social checks" rule?

Once Lissewa has left the room Krosus will approach Lexi and Tajanna.
The both of you should know that Lissewa was lying to us. It's obvious something happened to her when she met Nash, because one of his thoughts i captured implied as much. I suggest we get the full story from her. As far as going along with Nash I will agree with it for the time being, but we need to get in contact with Fleshcrawler. We need his perspective on this, even if he has gone rogue. Otherwise if we are discovered helping Nash, we might become targets of our own operatives and we don't want that. With that being said, we should delay in moving to a new hanger.

Before going to sleep he would meditate on the events of the day and try to find guidance from the force. Including using the force to seek out the location of Fleshcrawler. Encase the others agree with him in there need to make contact.

"Hmm, if Lissewa's not being entirely honest about what she and Hash were up to, we should probably get that information out of her before we invite Nash back onto our ship. And we should probably see what's up with our so-called contact, but I wouldn't focus on that to the detriment of our actual mission. I also wouldn't delay any longer than necessary in leaving this hanger, given that its location is known."

Krosus seems awfully concerned with Fleshcrawler, given that he's essentially a non-actor in our current scenario. If he had the means and desire to interfere with our mission, he would have already done so, given that we're parked in his hanger. Unless he is somehow unaware that a freighter has landed in the hanger reserved for Veil Piercer, in which case he is horrifically incompetent. Or possibly dead.
Feb 26, 2017 2:05 pm
Lexi nodded her head as Krosus explained more about his discoveries.

I certainly agree that we should have a more pointed discussion with Lissi prior to bringing him back or contacting him again. Additionally, finding Fleshcrawler is important for the same reason that we can't let Nash just do what he would like: he knows of our presence. Those that know of our presence and true purpose must either be our puppets in this play or we must end them. It is the only acceptable thing to do. As for the hangar, I'm torn. If we stay here, it is a known location. However, if we leave to somewhere that Nash pays for, it becomes a known location for him. If we had a way to finance our own slipspace, it would be ideal as we could start from a point of mystery for all contacts.

They are 100 credits a day. Each of you, or some of you, still have 100 credits. If you all split the cost evenly, it would cost each of you 20 credits a day, and must be paid in advance.

You guys need to decide a course of action. Take as long as you like, but, until you do, all I can really do is answer any questions you might have as the squad tries to agree upon their next move.

Also, I'm moving the Group Journal and Notes to the main game page for ease of access. Good to see you're using it Tefmon, as it can only help, and it's a good place the rest of you can look to get ideas of what you would like o do next. Good idea to organize it into factions, characters, etc.

I know I'm pimping the Group Journal a lot but...

If I'm a player in this game, every time I run into a new place, organization, character, or anything that that seems important, I create a a place for it in my Group Journal post, which will help avoid hindsight errors like confusing Shank's for MechTronics** ;) I would likely even copy/paste some quotes from characters, or anything the GM said that seemed worthwhile, then jot some notes next to that as needed.

Ultimately, the Group Journal thread would be the group's most useful tool in staying organized, which is especially important in PbP, as what happened in one day of the game took right around three months in PbP, making it more difficult for all of you to remember who/what/where/why/how type stuff. And, most importantly, the Group Journal will save you some effort of going through old posts, looking for information.

**You guys haven't been to MechTronics, a corporate franchise that sells all sorts of tech/tech parts and components, which, according to Zhaff, is likely locked down and closed like every other corp business, due to the labor riots, and heavily guarded by corporate security and/or Espos).

Guess I will try to set the stage.
The next afternoon, Lissewa awoke grogilly from her sleep. Though she had much on her mind, her exhaustion had prevented her from thinking to much about it and she slept straight through the night and apparently most of the day. How tired was I?

She knew this day would require a group decision and she would have to do whatever she had to to get the others to go along with her plan to use Nash to get to the top. Her plan depended on it.

Beyond just deciding whether to move the ship or to help Nash, they would still need a plan of action, something she was sorely lacking at the moment. Zhaff had recommended several possible lines of inquiry but they were all called into question by Nash. If they decided to work with him, they would have to ask him more about them.

She made her way to the lounge to get something to eat and wondered when the others would awake and join her.

The room is dark and the air chilled. None of this matters to him, as he follows the rythmic flow of his deep breathing. The force is flowing strong, but yet he still hasn't ever recieved any visions of future events. Krawley would tell him that sometimes the force decides when a pupil was ready for such powers, no matter how much the person desires it. It was an annoyance to him. He would continue to try though. Events on this planet are unfolding fast and furious and his instinct with the force was telling him that a shatterpoint was forming. Krawley had explained to him once that very gifted sith could look past events and circumstances and discover the very thread or event that held everything together. It was at that point that the fate of things could be determined. He was not delusional enough to believe he had this gift, but sometimes, just sometimes he could feel the force swelling around places and events and that moment was now. Do they help Nash or do they kill him or was their a middle path? Clouded the future is.

Ending his meditation and taking a few minutes to stretch out his legs from the long crossed legged position. He decides to find some breakfast and discovers Lissi already ahead of him.

Squeeks, based on the time you guys went to sleep (dawn), in conjunction with being some fairly tired individuals, I'm going to say that 'breakfast time', in this case, is actually closer to mid afternoon (let's say 3:00). Please adjust your narrative accordingly.

Of course, you could all take a day off and rest until the next morning, but that *will* allow time in the the world around your characters to progress even further, allowing other characters and organizations to act and behave accordingly.

Lexi sat in her quarters, crossed-legged, holding her lightsaber hilt in her lap.

Divine One, Progenitor. Your orders have sent me from your immediate service yet I feel pulled to you like a ship in a tractor beam. Even now we face questions and choices which were not foreseen by your generals. This Nash fellow could be useful. He has the desire and the will to take power for himself. Clearly, once we have secured our hold on Bonadan, he cannot be allowed to survive. He wants power too greatly to be useful for our work. He's as likely to turn on us if someone promising more or different power comes along and this is unacceptable. I feel we must work with him, so long as we can control him, and then he finds himself with a shaft of crimson light pouring forth from his chest one dark night. This is the way of the Sith. This is the way of power. This is your Providence.

Her eyes closed once more, she felt the balance, the ridges, the heft of the weapon. Leaving the blade extinguished she moved in the tight quarters slowly, tracing steps of her forms as best as possible. When the alarm beeped at her, she snapped her eyes open and went about getting ready for the remainder of the day.

As she walked into the Autochef area, she found both Krosus and Lissewa already there.

"I trust you both meditated well, and rested soundly?" she said, not cracking a smile before inhaling the vapors of a cup of caf.
Feb 28, 2017 2:25 am
Eyes slowly cracking open, Hawke took in the expanse of his room before pulling himself out of bed while scratching at the fur along his left pec. Taking in a deep breath, he closed his eyes while reaching out with a hand. Slowly, his mother's femur floated over to his outstretched hand. Looking at the bone housing his favored weapon, he thumbed the activation button for a few seconds before igniting the blade. Staring into the crimson beam of energy, he mentally recited the mantra that he was taught as a fresh acolyte to keep his psychosis under control.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Progenitor shall set me free.

Hawke repeated this mantra in his head for a number of minutes before deactivating his lightsaber and dressing in his armor. Armor maintenance served as an effective meditation tool as well as preparing his mind for rest. When fully dressed within his form concealing armor, he unlocked the door to his quarters and made his way to the autochef, the unofficial meeting area on the ship.

Seeing three of his crewmates already awake and moving, Hawke considered continuing the charade he began on a whim in hyperspace.

Lexiala, Krosus, Lissewa. When Tajanna joins us, we need to decide upon a course of action.
Feb 28, 2017 3:30 am
Lissewa yawned, rubbing some more of the sleep for her eyes. "I don't know about any meditating going on, but I slept like a baby."

With some surprise, she stared at Hawke. She hadn't noticed it yesterday in the confusion, but she did this time. "Hold on now. When did you start using names? What in the world did they do to you yesterday?"
Feb 28, 2017 1:00 pm
Tajanna woke up groggily as her datapad's alarm buzzed in the early afternoon. She yawned, flicked her wrist to turn her holographic costume into a facsimile of her perfectly-ironed Sith military uniform, and then sauntered over to the lounge room to get some breakfast.

"'Morning, everyone. Or 'afternoon, technically."

Tajanna walked over to the autochef, and served herself a bowl of soup, and then sat down at the table to eat and discuss plans with the crew.

Everyone's up bright and early. I suppose I should set my alarm back half-an-hour or so if I'm to be up and ready when they are.

So far, I'm picking up on a general consensus to work with Nash, at least for the time being, in addition to wanting to know the real story from Lissewa's time with Nash. Some quotes brought together below, for your convenience:
Tajanna says:
"I also think that, as our only contact of any power or significance at this point, we should make the appearance of cooperating with Nash for the time being, and leave the decision of whether to ultimately follow through with his plan or to dispose of him to a later date."
Krosus says:

As far as going along with Nash I will agree with it for the time being, but we need to get in contact with Fleshcrawler. We need his perspective on this, even if he has gone rogue. Otherwise if we are discovered helping Nash, we might become targets of our own operatives and we don't want that. With that being said, we should delay in moving to a new hanger.

Hawke says:
Need more information. Too many unknowns.

"Nash, Lissewa, tell us everything that happened starting when we split up."
Pretty sure Lissewa wants to work with, or use, Nash as well, which seems fairly clear with her vouching for him during your squad's meet and greet with Nash.

Squeeks, if you want to share Lissewa's backstory and come clean, just say so with some OOC attached to your narrative post, and I'll open it up for the rest of the group to read. I don't want to push you guys though, so if you want to RP pressing Lissewa to tell her story, that's fine (as long as it's not being re-told in its entirety via narrative!). I just want to make it clear that there is a 'fast forward' option, if you guys are ready to move along.

Beyond the topic of Lissewa's lying and hiding her story, the group should come up with their next move as well (if you decide to work with Nash, naturally he might provide insight on options presented).

Of course, you should continue to make your narrative posts daily, but, until you guys settle on a plan, I encourage you to communicate as much as possible, via the narrative, or in OOC.

In summation, questions that need answering:
(1) Do we work with/use Nash? (This seems pretty decided upon, but not finalized; you can, of course, add OOC 'votes' to the bottom of your narrative posts as a means of clear/concrete decisions).
(2) What's our next move? (See the Group Journal for some great notes and insight on this provided courtesy of Squeeks and Tefmon; again, OOC votes added to the bottom of your narrative posts can help move things along).

Again, I'm not trying to rush you guys, and understand if you want to RP this scene for a bit; just providing a little direction to help focus your efforts.
Feb 28, 2017 10:31 pm
Since we are all here, it's time to decide our course of action. I agree that we should use Nash to the extent of his power and influence can take us. I hate to be old fashioned about this, but let's take a vote on it, here and now. So if in favor say so now. Hold any arguments till after the vote. If we are all in agreement at the end i suggest we make arrangements to meet Nash again.

This appears to be no better time and place for such action. Everyone is present and at least semi alert. Perhaps he should pass out some more coffee before the actual vote. One way or other a course of action needs to be settled immediately. Of course once the issue of Nash is settled, he will bring up a new vote of getting in contact with Fleshcrawler as well.
Feb 28, 2017 11:05 pm
Ignoring Lissewa's question for the moment, Hawke looked at Krosus while considering the proposal. Seeing no reason not to, he shrugged before casting his vote, I saw that we utilize Nash's contacts and influence for now. Should he become a problem, we can deal with him then.

Turning to the twi'lek, he decided to answer her question.

Quite simply, I was playing a joke when I first called the lot of you by your position on the ship. It simply ended up being more fun than I anticipated when no one saw through such a transparent joke. But the current situation does not allow for prank based irritation to potentially compromise the mission.
Mar 1, 2017 12:57 am
Lexi sipped from her caf slowly, savoring the bitter liquid. It would be unwise to turn down such an eager puppet. So long as we keep him in check, I vote we use him for what we can get now. she said, nodding to the others.

Yes. When he becomes a problem, we will deal with him. Quickly. First order after this is that we contact Nash and find out what he can offer about Fleshcrawler. That contact is a loose thread that cannot continue to exist.
Mar 1, 2017 3:23 am
"Well, he is the asset that I acquired . I'm not rightly going to turn him away without getting some use out of him."

Lissewa was surprised that they had all gone along with the idea so easily. Clearly they intended simply to use him like a tool and not a partner but perhaps they weren't aware of that stipulation yet.

"Just be aware that he is not to be underestimated. He is as cunning as any Sith I have met and he is expecting us to come through on lure end of the deal. He sees this as a partnership and until such time that he is no longer useful, we should treat it as such. Just understand he will likely see us the same way if we prove to be dishonest."

Which this lot most certainly are being. She was going to have her work cut out for her keeping the peace between the groups. This was why she was here after all.
Mar 1, 2017 7:31 am
"Well, if we're going to be dishonest with him, it's not like we'll be telling him that. If he begins to suspect dishonesty before we're ready to dispose of him, that would be an unacceptable failing on our part. And to get the formalities out of the way, I vote in favour of allying with Nash, at least temporarily."

Tajanna took out her datapad and placed it on the table beside her bowl of soup, and began idly tapping down notes in between spoonfuls.

It looks like some rest allowed some of us here to place the success of the mission above a personal dislike of Nash. Killing him right now would be a massive waste, one that we could scarcely afford even if our mission was proceeding smoothly. Now we just need to come up with a more actionable plan than 'use Nash', and we'll be ready to progress towards the completion of our mission in earnest.

Lexi smiled, happy that they all were in agreement on a course.

Now, for the painful part of this all. Good painful.

So, Lissewa, now that we've agreed to use your contact for this and back you on the play, we should all have a bit of a chat. It's time you came clean about your interactions with the man. For the moment, I will assume you were being devious to manipulate Nash. However, he's not here now. Fill us in on your true escapades once we went our separate ways. Lexi said, leaning forward in her seat, eyes boring into Lissewa.
Mar 1, 2017 9:16 pm
Lissewa had been waiting for this. She had a feeling that at least one of them would guess she might be lying about her encounter with Nash. She had hoped to avoid speaking about this but she couldn't move forward without admitting her mistake.

"I'll start by saying that I wasn't trying to hide anything from Nash. I have been up front with him as much as possible, and after hearing what I have to say, you may understand why, or you won't and I suppose we'll have a problem. The lie was a selfish one, primarily to avoid embarrassment and to avoid the messiness that might have resulted had I told you the truth while Nash was present."

Lissewa gave them a moment to process what she had said. With a final sigh, she began to recount the true tale of her time away from them. She watched them carefully as she did, looking for their reactions to the events that took place. She was watching to look for anger, in order to best find a way to prevent any lashing out from them. When she had finished, she crossed her fingers and waited patiently.

"And that is what happened."

Thank you for coming clean with us Lissewa. If we are to succeed in our mission here, we must be able to work and communicate well. Honestly, for awhile i was convinced you had sabotaged the holo-transmitter. After finding no proof, i admit to placing you in the wrong. However this does not ease my mind to the fact that it is highly improbable that the transmitter was not working when we left Sith space. I have no doubt that the force will guide me to the person or persons responsible. Today though we must discuss Nash. Since you've had the most interaction with the man, how do you think we should proceed with him? I still want us to delay in moving hangers, I think we should try to rent our own space. Also I think we should press Nash into helping us obtain the parts to fix our transmitter.

Hopefully his apology comes across as genuine, even though he still has his doubts about her. Hell in truth he has un-trust toward all of his crew mates. That was the unfortunate side effects of being a dark side disciple. Ambition, greed and power were all selfish desires that drove them.

Leaning back against the edge of the doorway, Hawke considered the story that Lissewa told them. A few details cleared up some questions he had, but the most pressing one remained: What to do next?

"Any thoughts on how to move forward? I would prefer to not rely solely on one source of information on the environment, but what options lay before us? Thoughts?"
Mar 2, 2017 12:00 pm
OOC:
So far it looks like Lissewa's carrying the team. She managed to get a willing ally and some useful information, while the rest of us Sith Lords were busy skulking in alleyways to avoid local beat cops.
Tajanna took the opportunity presented by Lissi's storytelling to fully finish her soup, and was thus ready to get moving by the time Lissi's story finished.

"I think we should find out definitively what happened to Fleshcrawler, although given our current information it's very likely that he's gone rogue in the Bonadan underworld. If that proves to be true, we will have to eliminate him to preserve what little operational security we have left, and to pave the way for Nash to ascend to his former position."

Fleshcrawler's rogue state is troubling, both for the immediate success of our mission, and for the overall state of Sith military security, if it lets its crucial operatives slip loose so easily. Of course, it's possible that Fleshcrawler is still in properly undercover, awaiting our contact, and the individual Nash mentioned as the usurper of his position is someone else entirely, but that seems improbable. Either way, we need to get our holonet transceiver up and running as soon as possible, both to attempt contact of Fleshcrawler, for the chance that he hasn't gone rogue, and to update STRAT-COM on our current situation.
Mar 2, 2017 2:24 pm
Alright. So, Lissewa has told her story, and you guys are agreed on using/working with Nash. The question then, is how to proceed?
Mar 2, 2017 10:05 pm
At least there is some agreement about getting the transmitter fixed. In his opinion it would be unwise to proceed with Nash without getting in contact first. Also he highly doubted that Flesh Crawler had gone rogue, otherwise he would have let the gangs kill them when they first arrived. It was possible though that flesh crawler was operating solo or in hiding.

I think Lissewa should make contact with Nash and invite him back over to the ship. We listen to his plans and go from there. Hopefully Lissewa can convince him to help us acquire the parts we need. If that fails though I suggest our next course of action is to find flesh cralwer before aiding in whatever task Nash want's us to accomplish.

If they are to maintain control of this person, Nash, they needed to make some more allies. Especially allies of other rivals. After all, sometimes the best position to be in, is right smack in the middle of things; or as his teacher would have told him, be the spider in the center of the web. Be aware of everything going on around, until your enemy has ensnared itself deeply and cannot escape.
Mar 2, 2017 11:45 pm
"Agreed, we need more than one source of data. In any event, I believe that from here on out we should travel in pairs at minimum. Lissewa's initial meeting with Nash showed a flaw in our division of labor. If Nashe were less ambitious, we would be out a diplomat. In any event, now that I am fully rested, I want to take another look at the communicator."

His opinion on moving forward given, Hawke left the lounge to pick up his tools in Engineering, the comm. terminal his next destination.

Lexi nodded as Hawke doled out some very sound advice.

Fully agreed. If we have Lissewa get in contact with Nash, we can also see if he can procure us the components Hawke may need to get our comm back up to snuff. Without Nash present, we should try contacting Flesh Crawler, once we have our systems back. I'd like a chance to at least make a determination on his status to the Sith. Perhaps allowing us to open several avenues of success.

Also, if we find that he's less malleable or has truly gone rogue, we can eliminate him and his knowledge. It will feel marvelous to revel in the glory of the Progenitor as a traitor's life fades from his eyes in front of me. Truly a way to feel alive.
Mar 3, 2017 12:54 pm
Tajanna nodded in suit at Hawke's advice on the division of labour.

"It appears we have reached a decision. We will contact Nash to inquire about holotransceiver parts, and to discuss our next steps of our mutual plan, but hold off on executing any of those plans until an attempt is made at contacting Fleshcrawler."

Finally, I thought we would never agree on anything. I personally would rather we focus on Nash's plan in the absence of Fleshcrawler, rather than delaying it to confirm his status, but arguing further would merely delay us getting anything done at all. And we can afford scant delays, given that our opposition already knows of our presence and our location.
Mar 3, 2017 4:49 pm
Seeing that the others had very little reaction to her story, she momentarily wondered if she had been foolish to be 'afraid' to tell her story in the first place. I guess I should make contact with Nash then.

"Well, if we are all in agreement, then I will contact Nash and set up a meeting location."

Lissewa pulled out her com-link and set up a call to Nash. She relayed their choice to work with him and would like to get started right away. "Let us know where you want to meet. We need to gather more information concerning Fleshcrawler so we'll need to attempt contacting him before we make any assumptions."
Mar 3, 2017 5:53 pm
Making his way to the lounge, Hawke was quickly filled in on the details of what was discussed while he was working on the Holosuite.

"Something seems off about the missing module, but I can't place my finger on it. I'm going to take a look at the materials and parts in Engineering, make sure that we have enough surplus of other parts in case something else ends up missing. Lissewa, do you mind stopping by when you get a chance? I would like to take a look at the places the binders were to see if there's any lingering damage or needle pinpricks."
OOC:
I'm just assuming that the rest of the group fills in Hawke so there's no need to repeat what we all can see in the thread. Seems more convenient that way.

To be blunt, we are not splitting up the group long term again, unless absolutely necessary. It's like running two games, and, despite my efforts to simplify my posts when the group was split, I still found myself putting more into both sides of the story than intended, the side effect being that real world time slips away while I try to make sure Vanguard of Darkness stays high quality.

I know some GMs out there run multiple games, but running a single completely original (not a module, or some adventure I've run before) game, especially with the political intricacies this one has, in conjunction with the fact that the NPC's are active and the game world lives and breathes, is plenty for me. My goal here is to make the setting as real as possible, instead of it feeling entirely reactive to your moves, like some mediocre videogame or module.

Hawke: There are no markings on the binders that you can see.

Nash answers Lissewa's call. "We can meet at the Dead Drop, a nice little shanty cantina in one of the more... eclectic parts of Kraspen. I'm less known there, and it's not part of my regular routine, so the safest place we could meet in the off-chance that the 'master' is on to me, or simply having my usual haunts watched to make sure I'm 'performing' to his standards." You can hear his disdain at the word master.

"Don't come unless you're packing. Besides, there'll be no Espos pat-downs or random searches when you're with me. Not that we'll see any Espos, though. It's a rough neighborhood that they tend to completely ignore, where smart Espos out of uniform keep their badge tucked away. See you there in two hours?"

With that, he sends the coordinates to Lissewa's datapad.

Unless you prefer to request another meeting place, we can consider that the end of the call. If, for some reason, you want to arrange somewhere else to meet, I'll need someone to pass some kind of Social Skill check (meaning, you are not being put on rails here, and have options).

Otherwise, it's a one hour drive to the Dead Drop, so that gives all of you an hour before you would need to leave, about 10 minutes of which you can use to manage your equipment.

If you're making any changes to your loadouts, please let me know:

(1) What you'll be carrying on your person.
(2) What you'll be leaving on the Spear of Akrulta (if anything).
(3) What you'll be storing in the ECUL (if anything), assuming you use it to get there (you can, of course, arrange for taxi transportation, at 10 credits per hour traveled, rounded up).
Mar 6, 2017 8:28 pm
Lissewa responded positively to his suggestion. She didn't know of any other places to meet at the moment anyway. "Alright everyone, we're heading to the Dead Drop. I have the coordinates. He suggested that we come armed. Either he is expecting something or may already have a plan in mind that might require it." Lissewa went out about preparing herself for their trip. Not planning on making a similar mistake as last time, she prepared as much as she could carry. As she does so she leaves directions for Sebastian.

"Now, I know you don't want me to leave without you again but I won't make the mistake of going anywhere alone this time. For now and until we move the ship to a new location that isn't known we need someone to look after the ship. Make sure you keep the door locked and do no open it for anyone until you get confirmation that is one of the 5 of us. If anybody attempts to gain entry, call us and the authorities for help and make yourself scarce."

She could tell that her BS-10 droid was against this course of action but his loyalty programming ensured that he would do as commanded. Yes, mistress. Do be careful this time. And watch out for that Nash fellow. You can't trust him.

Lissewa nodded before lugging her bag over to the ECUL to get things stored and in place.
OOC:
Will equip her blaster pistol and her scattergun, her backpack with 2 reloads for each weapon. She will be keeping her datapad, electrobinoculars, 3 stimpaks and one of the rebreathers on her as well. She will put the other rebreather back in the survival kit. Anything currently stored in the Spear will be moved to the ECUL.
Mar 7, 2017 12:47 pm
"Sounds like a plan. Actually having our full kit on us will be nice. I'll meet you all at the ECUL."

Tajanna nodded in understanding as Lissi relayed Nash's message, and then went to work preparing for the expedition. She scrounged up both the heavy blaster pistol and the breath mask she had looted from the rodian ambushers the previous night, inspected them fully for any damage or defects, and grabbed her ACP Repeater that she had left in the Spear previously, before heading down the the cargo bay where the ECUL was parked.
OOC:
Tajanna will bring all of her stuff (Lightsaber, ACP Repeater Gun, Heavy Blaster Pistol, Holographic Costume, Datapad, Comlink, Breath Mask, 2 Stimpacks, and Backpack), but will decide whether to leave her ACP Repeater in the ECUL or to bring it with her personally when we arrive at the meeting point, depending on what the situation there looks like.
Mar 7, 2017 1:32 pm
Nodding, Hawke swung by his sleeping quarters to grab his looted weapons. Sliding the knife into his boot, he considered where to carry the blaster he looted. With a shrug, he wedged the blaster (minus energy cell) into his belt before leaving to meet up at the ECUL.
OOC:
Hawke's also bringing everything, so the only things that he needed to grab were the combat knife and the blaster he looted from the gangsters.

We have a majority opting for the Dead Drop meet, so away we go.

CCL and Drama: next time you post, let me know what adjustments you're making to your inventory.

After sorting through your gear and outfitting yourselves, the lot of you board the ECUL. Taking the pilot seat, Lexi powers it up and you head out, making your way down the spaceport traffic ramps until you reach street level. Checking the navcomputer, Lexi points the ECUL toward the meet, propulsor engines humming as you move along at a middling and inconsistent pace through heavy traffic. Lines of airspeeders intersect at varying altitudes above, traveling along established air lanes in multiple directions, occasionally catching a glint of the late afternoon sun.

Hovering along and making decent time despite the traffic, Lexi finds herself occasionally switching lanes in an effort to get past pilots who clearly aren't interested in getting anywhere, anytime soon. Suddenly traffic slows considerably, congesting as it comes to another stop for an intersection traffic signal ahead, and you find yourself stuck behind an industrial wheeled hauling truck, and wedged between two landspeeders on either side, vehicles lining up behind you.

On a street corner to your right, you see an Espo, atop some poor fellow, knee in his back, putting him in binders as three of his fellow Espos look on, waving pedestrians and onlookers past.

OOC:
Krosus is keeping the same equipment as before and leaving the rest of the stuff on the ship.
I'm glad to see that we are under way. Long meditations often bore me and judging by the amount of armaments everyone is carrying i'm going to assume we might be expecting some trouble? He smiles at the thought of wielding his blade in combat.

Too long it has been since he's faced any worthy challenges, he mused to himself as the words of lord Krawley echoed in his ears. No matter how small the task or obstacle, you must seek to overcome it with the up-most skill and talent. Cause the day will come when the smallest obstacle could determine your fate. How true the statement. He often thought about it, to keep it fresh in his mind.

Kriffin' pilots. Can't figure out thrusters from the off switch. Lexi's eyes flitted across the traffic, on the look out for opportune alternate pathways through the traffic. Silver speeder, few speeders back.

Krosus, you may have an answer to that soon. We've got a tail, silver speeder three or four units back from us. Any of you able to be my eyes, let me know what it's doing. We may have to get fancy with our flight here soon. Progenitor help us all. Let me know the instant their stance changes.

Lexi looked nervously at the signal light, ready for it to go so she could get a leap through this traffic however possible.

Hold on tight, we may be taking some sharp turns.

Dramasailor says:
If they leave the ECUL in a 'civilized' area, she'll leave the Carbine locked up but take the slugthrower concealed on her person. The remainder of her load-out stays the same.
If, and when, any of you want to change your inventory, let me know at that point in the game.

Also, sounds like a chase is coming up...

I have a bad feeling about this, Hawke thought to himself as he double checked his seat belt.

[What's the matter? Inspection no turning out the results you want?] the silky smooth voice of his mother filtered through his implant.

I need more data, too many unknowns, either way need to replace modulator.
Mar 8, 2017 7:21 am
"Hang on, I'll try to get a read on them."

Of course, everything had been going far too well recently. Hopefully the Espos don't decide to interfere, because we're carrying a lot of hardware we can't really explain away.

Tajanna's hands immediately went to the front passenger console, where she began setting up the ECUL's sensor banks to scan the pursuing vehicle.
OOC:
I'm assuming Tajanna is riding in the front passenger seat, beside Lexi, given that that's the seat she usually sits in. Because it might be relevant soon, would Tajanna be able to perform "piloting"-type Actions from there, or only interface with the ECUL's other systems (such as its sensors)?

Tajanna will use the "Scan the Enemy" vehicular combat Action on the pursuing silver speeder, and will use her Maneuver to Assist Lexi, adding one Boost die to her next Action.

Well, this situation has certainly brought up some game mechanics that need to be addressed. There's a lot here as an effort on my part to avoid repeated questions, but it's our first Chase, so we need to address mechanics.

To clarify available actions/maneuvers for the ECUL (and most non-combat vehicles in general) I've updated the Group Finances and Assets to make it clear what characters can/can't do from their positions in the ECUL (all of you should take a look and see your options); please refer to this before posting any Maneuvers or Actions.

Drama, as the Pilot, I'll need you to give some kind of direction as we move forward into structured time, using Maneuvers/Actions via the F&D rules starting on p. 238, or there's two really good links in the Library, under Links to Useful Resources and Reference Sheets Without your direction as the Pilot, I simply had Lexi perform the 'Drive' Maneuver.
.

Taking a look through the rear view and side view image screens, Tajanna gets a good enough look to discern that the silver landspeeder is a 4-seater, doesn't seem to have any upgrades, and appears to be occupied by a pilot and one passenger.

Tension builds as you wait for the traffic signal, which, like every traffic signal, doesn't want to give you the go ahead. Left hand on the wheel, right hand on the throttle, Lexi waits, like pod-racer at the starting line.

The traffic crossing the intersection in front of you slows down, then stops. The signal ahead changes.

Go.

Traffic sluggishly starts forward, and, despite her urge to punch the throttle, Lexi does so in kind. Most of the vehicles continue on the path forward, some turning to the left or right. A keen eye on the traffic, Tajanna notices some vehicles ahead, separating, the beginnings of an opening to exploit. Lexi nods, playing it cool as if she was none the wiser about the Silver Speeder tail behind you, then abruptly makes her move, aggressively separating from the pack as she pushes the throttle forward.

The ECUL is now at Speed 1. We'll be using the Chase Rules (F&D p.247) and Competitive checks.

The base difficulty for these checks is going to be the vehicle's speed, upgraded by half the vehicle silhouette. So, for this turn, at Speed 1, the base Difficulty for the check you're making is going to be 1 Red + 1 Setback for fairly dense traffic at this speed. Remember, you have a Boost from Tajanna's Assist, and to my knowledge Enhance: Agility is running. The Silver Speeder is at Short Range.

Additionally, Lexi, you have three choices here as you make your first move through traffic, starting from the center lane:

Right or Left turn: Less time to make the turn (as opposed to going forward) requires a narrower squeeze through space, adding 1 Setback to your roll. Less traffic after either turn, as most of the traffic surrounding you is going forward.

Straight: More time to make your opening move, allowing space to open up a little more, so no additional Setback beyond the base difficulty. More traffic flow around you keeping straight.

Traffic is both ways, 3 lanes on each side (6 total from one side of the street to the other). Sidewalks aren't wide enough for anything bigger than a speeder bike.

Scan the Enemy for Tajanna is going to be a regular check via using her senses, simply trying to get a good look at the vehicle, using the side/rear image screens (SW equivalent of side/rear view mirrors); the ECUL doesn't have any such advanced scanning systems like a starship would for detecting weapon systems, etc.

Also, just like on a starship, the only time Tajanna could access true 'Pilot Only' actions is if the pilot ceded control; until that point, the actions available are of the Co-Pilot position nature, as described for the Spear of Akrulta on it's own thread.

In addition to the narrative points, Tajanna's Scan Enemy discerns that the Silver Speeder, being a stock civilian type, has a Hull Threshold of 4, and a System Strain Threshold of 5.

Lissewa sat in her seat waiting patiently for them to arrive. The traffic of the region annoyed her but she knew it was a common sight in areas such as this and would be something she would have to grow accustomed to.

She was glad, as they passed the Espos, that their ship had a covered top because their arsenal of weaponry would certainly give them away as suspicious individuals. She was confident she could talk her way out of any negative actions but she would prefer things to just go smoothly for once.

She was oblivious to any talk coming from the front area, preferring to just stare out the window for a while.
Mar 8, 2017 10:46 pm
Krosus noticed the sudden acceleration in speed. I take it, that we are attempting to loose them? I wonder who they work for?

Everybody on this planet apparently knows who we are, he thinks to himself. Perhaps we shouldn't try to play cloak and dagger. Hell the more visible they were the more it would draw out all those that would oppose them. Are we ready and capable of handling such a blood bath though. That's what it would be, now that he thinks about it. It would be a true test of there abilities though. A time may be coming when this tactic would be appropriate, just not now.

Can anyone get a good look at the ones chasing us?

Without opening the back door? No. Hawke quipped from his place in the back of the ECUL, glad that he double checked his seat belt.

Am I the only one that sometimes feels like we're the stars of one of those holodramas? Whenever something goes right the Progenitor decides to make things more interesting...does that count as blasphemy?
OOC:
Seriously, would that count as blasphemy?

Tajanna turned her head to peer into the rear passenger compartment, and addressed Krosus.

"It looks like a basic civilian landspeeder, four-seater. I don't imagine we'll have any trouble losing them, unless they have backup nearby, or manage to drag in the Espos."

Interesting choice of pursuit vehicle. It's almost unnerving how underwhelming it is. Either our opposition is just comically incompetent or under-equipped, or this landspeeder is a distraction from the real threat. In the absence of further information, it would be prudent to assume the latter.
OOC:
I'm assuming this is all "free action" talking going on right now, given that Lexi has yet to chime in? I'm not really sure we can do a chase scene without our pilot.

And, I'm pretty sure it's blasphemy, Meribson.
Mar 9, 2017 1:36 pm
Meribson: As far as blasphemy, yeah, it was, but on the light side. And, for all Hawke knows, the First Emperor/First Sith/Progenitor/Deliverer/Creator actually does make things 'more interesting' from time to time. Perhaps he's testing your mettle as a Sith, seeing if you're up to great plans he has in store for you? You can play Hawke how you like, which includes being a devout worshipper of the Progenitor (as your Obligation), while still occasionally questioning his plans. If for some reason you decide Hawke wants to discard his faith, we can figure that out (since it's related to your Obligation).

As far as Drama and having a pilot, I'll take the wheel for today to make sure the game keeps moving forward.

Dice for Drama's move. Keeping straight, which will make future checks more difficult. Merciless GM, remember? Besides, with Lexi's Piloting skill (2Y 3G + 1G from Enhance: Agility) and Tajanna's Boost, if I'm actually the player, that's the move I'd make, given that the tail would have to deal with the same traffic.

Mar 9, 2017 3:26 pm
Keeping straight, Lexi patiently waits for traffic to turn off, passing through the intersection before squeezing the ECUL between the truck and a speeder to the right. It's then that she truly goes into action, as she pushes the throttle forward in an effort to leave the Silver Speeder behind.

Clearly your tail is caught off guard; still, they react in time to give chase, although they are having a considerably more difficult time maneuvering through traffic as they accelerate to keep up. It's not enough, however, and by the time your pursuers have gotten up to speed, they're already falling behind.

There's moderately dense traffic ahead, wheeled vehicles, speeders of all kinds, plodding along at speed limit pace. Weaving in and out, threading your way through vehicular obstacles, things are looking good. Up ahead, you see a large, industrial hover vehicle, moving along with traffic, a symbolic business logo proudly emblazoned on the rear in purple glow light.

Then you see it, a second or two before impact: a rocket of some type, streaming in, coming down at an almost entirely vertical angle suggesting it was launched from high above street level, on the right side. It connects in the front, a direct hit to the pilot's cab, a booming explosion rocking the vehicle. Immediately, the vehicle lists to the right, then severely careens in the same direction as it spins out and crashes into a building, coming to a dead stop. A couple of speeders crash into it from the rear, with collateral collisions piling up behind them. Traffic moving ahead in front of you quickly slams on the brakes, scattering across your side of the street in a chaotic mess.

Cab on fire, the length of the industrial vehicle and the pile-up ahead is blocking your path completely, as a wall of wreckage and stopped vehicles has entirely congested the three lanes on your side of the street.

Your only option to evade your pursuers is to aggressively veer left, and go against oncoming traffic.

Lexi won the Competitive check, increasing separation between you and the Silver Speeder. It was Short Range, it's now Medium (the goal in a Chase, for the pursued, is to get the distance between you and the pursuer beyond Extreme, leaving them hopelessly behind).

Converting the Silver Speeder's Triumph into 3 Advantage, that brings their total to 5 Advantage, which is a fairly large chunk of Advantage, which I've interpreted as the collision above, further complicating your attempt to escape your pursuers.

So, the 3 lanes of traffic that you guys were moving along with/through, has essentially come to a dead stop, and can no longer be traveled. The bottom line is that, if you want to continue to evade your pursuers and try to get away, Lexi is going to have to navigate the ECUL past the wreckage ahead, which will require her to first enter and navigate through the three lanes of oncoming traffic to the left, circumventing the wreckage. After that, on the next turn, assuming success, she can move the ECUL back on to the right side of the street, moving with the traffic going in the same direction.

The alternative is to slam on the brakes and stop with the rest of traffic. To avoid collision, the check for that would: 1 Red, 2 Black.

The ECUL is still at Speed 1. If it stays that way, the difficulty of moving into and through/against oncoming traffic will be: 1 Red, 6 Black.

If Lexi decides to up the speed to 2 (ECUL/typical speeder max), then the difficulty of moving into and through/against oncoming traffic will be: 1 Red, 1 Purple, 6 Black.

If your character adds dice to Lexi's pool, go ahead and roll them yourself. Also, the only Vehicle Action that would be a secret check is 'Scan the Enemy'; all other vehicle actions you can roll the dice yourself, using the RaW.

OOC:
Sorry! I had a post typed up last night and apparently didn't hit post, like a chump. Thankfully, going straight had been my decision anyway. Now then, onto actions!
Lexi yanked the wheel to one side, steering into the oncoming traffic. Her grip like iron as she kept a steady hand on the throttle keeping her speed constant.

Damnable rocket! Gotta keep us moving, keep your eyes peeled!

Lissewa was jerked into awareness by the sudden increase in speed and movement of the vehicle. She realized that they were being pursued, likely a result of them remaining in the same compromised hangar. She was a bit worried about Sebastian now, not to mention the ship. They would need to go over it thoroughly when they returned.

Her thoughts once again returned to the situation at hand when a massive explosion went off in front of them, cutting off their immediate escape. Things started to get bumpy as she held on for dear life. Unsure of what else to do, she pulled out her blaster pistols from its holster, wanting to be ready if they were forced to stop and fight. For now, they would have to rely on Lexi to get them out of this.
Mar 10, 2017 12:57 pm
I guess I was right about them having backup. We're lucky that rocket hit the cab ahead of us, instead of our ECUL directly. Either we're more valuable alive than dead, and they sought to jam us in stopped traffic, or someone has terribly poor aim.

After being rocked by the sudden deceleration, Tajanna stopped visually analyzing the pursuing craft, and instead devoted herself to managing the ECUL's auxiliary systems, allowing Lexi to ignore such matters as she focused solely on evading oncoming traffic and escaping their pursuers.
OOC:
Tajanna will take the Co-Pilot Action, downgrading the difficulty of Lexi's next Piloting check by one on a success. Tajanna will also use her Maneuver to again Assist Lexi, adding a Boost die to her next active check.

I'm going to interpret Lexi's 3 Advantage as making the traffic check more difficult for the Silver Speeder. Upgrading the difficulty of its check as it tries to navigate the chaos left in Lexi's wake. No extra dice for the Pilot here as the passenger is busy trying to shoot at you.

Results: The Triumph and Despair cancel each other out, but it's still bad for the Silver Speeder, especially given the situation.

Lexi's instincts kick in, prompted by her experience and training. Not one to shy away from dangerous driving, she steers the ECUL left into the oncoming traffic lanes, entering into a gambit of high risk vs reward. Speeders and wheeled vehicles ahead of you begin to slam on the brakes, skidding this way and that as Lexi reflexively darts in between a few vehicles. Finding an opening, she veers hard to the right, out of oncoming traffic and back into the proper lane. Surely the Progenitor was smiling down on her.

The adrenaline spike of avoiding a few head on collisions is just barely beginning to subside when you look in the rear view and notice that the Silver Speeder's passenger is leaning out of his window, bringing a blaster rifle to bear on the ECUL. You're not sure how long he's been trying to sight you, but his timing is horrendous.

Following Lexi's path through oncoming traffic doesn't go nearly as well for the Silver Speeder's pilot. He manages to narrowly avoid one oncoming vehicle, but then, just as he's attempting to find an opening to get back into the right lanes, one of the speeders that swerved to dodge Lexi's driving ends up slamming headlong into your pursuer. The passenger side gunner gets off a single errant blaster shot in your general direction before the impact of the collision catapults him through the air, slamming him head first into an oncoming truck as the Silver Speeder comes to an immediate and catastrophic halt. Glass and debris scatter all around as another speeder slams into the wreckage.

Although it's a little bit of a stretch with only 2 Threat, I decided we might as well wreck the Silver Speeder due to the fact that these guys don't have much of a chance anymore to catch you at that distance with Lexi at the helm.

Chase is over with the collision.
Mar 13, 2017 9:26 pm
The dark side is truly guiding us. An excellent display of skill Lexi. I'm certain that will not be the last of the trouble we'll encounter.

trusting others in situations like this make himself feel helpless. Despite what lord Krawley had once told him. With the force as ones Ally you're never helpless or defenseless. Deep down he knows that Lexi was the right choice to be piloting, her skill set made her the best choice. He had to remember that every member of the team brought special skills and talents to the table.
Mar 14, 2017 2:22 am
Lissewa watched the scene unfold like out of some kind of action vid. So this is my life now. Not sure this is really my thing.

She kept her eyes open, glued to the immediate area. "Stay alert. The speeder might be off of us but whoever fired that rocket might still be out there."
Mar 14, 2017 5:02 am
I'm beginning to have doubts about Nash. How many people knew where we'd be headed? If Nash didn't leak our destination then his operational security is lacking.

Outwardly, Hawke gave no indication of his thoughts, simply sitting in the back of the ECUL as Lexi drove down the road.
Mar 14, 2017 11:53 am
"We can't even drive to go chat with a friend without being shot at with rockets. Oh, and that was some nice maneuvering there, Lexi. We should probably get out of this district with haste, before the local authorities start cordoning off the streets and such."

Well, that was interesting, although not entirely unexpected. We should probably try to to figure out how our enemies always seem to know our pinpoint location, and who those enemies of ours actually are. Given that the last two hit teams were sent by Nash, it seems that someone else also has the means and desire to send swarms of third-rate hitmen at us. Possibly the same person who sent the cyberthugs to burglarize our hangar, or possibly another one of Nash's master's servants?

Tajanna relaxed a bit with the destruction of their wholly inept pursuers, but kept a careful eye on the surrounding area, scanning for any additional pursuers or rocketeers.
Mar 14, 2017 3:29 pm
Leaving the carnage and wreckage behind, Lexi follows the navicomputer's directions toward your meeting at the Dead Drop with Nash. Traveling along main thoroughfares, you breathe a little easier for a while thanks to the efforts of your ECUL's filtration system scrubbing the noxious Bonadan air, and the appreciable down time of of an uneventful ride.

That's it for Chapter 2. Our story continues in Chapter 3, The Dead Drop. It will be up today, in a few minutes.
