Ruler: There is no single ruler of the Dannein people, only the chieftains (who go by different titles) and elders of each clan

Government Style: no central government. Individual clans rule themselves separately under their own traditions, most often led by a chieftain and perhaps a set of elders who may play an advisory role.
Religion: acceptance of the First Gods, a pantheon of mostly earth and nature-based gods. No formal churches, temples, nor highly developed liturgy. There are no priests, although the rare "kelidan" (translated to mean "pious one", a word that serves to identify Clerics) may be recognized as a true Dannein who is especially sensitive to the will and power of the gods.
Most Danneins think of the gods as aloof beings to be accepted as powerful and respected, but also as best to be avoided. Although swearing and statements of commitment by the name of the gods is somewhat common, prayer to the gods are rare, and may even be viewed as risky since it may call undue attention to the one who prays.
The exception is a small set of clans who perform sacrifices, sometimes even human sacrifices, to a cruel goddess known as The Morrigan, most often associated with fate and doom in war. This is a rare veneration, however, and unwelcome to most Dannein clans. The practice of human sacrifice draws even more criticism by nearby Yuoric kingdoms of the Markelands. The Gellirian Church often misconstrues this religious practice as more frequent and more universally practiced than it actually is.
Primary Languages: Dannein
