The Death Star has been destroyed and the Emperor defeated, but the Empire continues on in his absence. Khoan jogs past his astromech, R6-N8, and quickly climbs into the pilot's seat of his shared Y-Wing. He pulls on his helmet and settles into his seat, running through his usual pre-battle calming exercises. He fights the giddiness that rises within him; despite the seriousness of the situation, he has to admit to himself that he is excited to be back out in the field. With a serious look in his eye, he runs his pre-flight checks. "All set on my end. Let's give these pirates a run for their credits, eh Vim?"

Vim shrugs into the top half of the flight suit that had been hanging from his waist as Khoan jogs up. Vim had just been on his way to his bunk post-shift. Let's do this. Glad I decided to cut through the hangar today... Right place, right time. Typical.

The sound of the alarm startles Kzzis, his hands jumping and the tiny sprockets and servos he was working on explode into the air, leaving the Verpine to curse as the ship while inside the confines of his quarters. He reaches into a nearby storage space and picks up his belt and pistol. He rubs the plate of his blaster pistol. The gun has been modified through and through but he takes comfort in the fact that it has been reliable for as long as it has. He quickly rushes out towards the ship docks where he enters into his B-wing. In almost perfect rhythm due to years of experience in the ship he presses the right sequence of buttons to ignite the engine.
"Red 3 standing by. Awaiting orders" he calls into his system, noticing the others running towards their ships

B0-N35 arcs his head to look upwards hearing the announcement over the system communications and nods since pilots should report to their ships. He goes back to reviewing his datapad where he kneels in his area next to his charging port when his head raises up. "Oh..." he states bolting upright since that actually includes him now. He goes to move and stops mid stride and removes his charging cable from the port and grabs his gear and takes off for his X Wing with full battle rattle unsure on what to expect.
Jumping into his own ship he goes through diagnostics checks. Hearing chatter over communicaitons people are already done he moves rapidly since he's just starting.
What's my call sign again??? Maybe I should get a red scarf... would that be tacky considering? he thought to himself and moved to work harder in completing his pre-flight check list in an expedient fashion.

As you power up your ships and blast out of the hangar, your sensors pick up what the problem is. A large asteroid had been towed into the hyperspace lane which caused the ships to be knocked out of hyperspace. The Malta is at the back of the convoy with the three transport ships in between it and the asteroid.
Coming out from behind the asteroid is a large carrier shooting out Z-95 fighters and some boarding transports toward the convoy.

The turret pivots to forward as Vim fiddles with switches and knobs in the pale light of the gunnery seat. It was also the navs seat and the comms seat, but he always thought of it as the gunnery seat. It was his seat, anyhow, and he was at home there.
