'Killer' - do we have a problem?

'Killer' is a straightforward, taciturn man, but he bears grudges like everyone else.
So, tell me:
• Which one of you once left me bleeding, and did nothing for me?
• Which one of you has fought shoulder to shoulder with me?
• Which one of you is prettiest and/or smartest?

You've been told Lattice is smart and able to keep machines going long past what should be considered their shelf life with materials woefully inadequate for the job. But how smart can she really be if she keeps throwing herself down elevator shafts and fire escapes to go dig for scrap every day? Mind you, given how she's trying to stay as neutral as you but without the firepower, maybe that's just what it takes. Oh, and whatever your views are of wiry women in trench coats and scuba gear for attractiveness as well I guess.

Alternatively, Lattice isn't likely to stick around during a major firefight or do more than the minimum required. Maybe a misunderstanding led to something going wrong for the first case.

Since Killer sometimes does jobs with the Blood-Sparrows, I'd say that Canary has definitely fought shoulder-to-shoulder with him. Killer is usually hired for important jobs, or as a bodyguard when meeting important people (like Dremmer). Canary also leads the gang in combat, and is no slouch when it comes to killing. In fact, he might be one of bad influences that persuades Killer to become more violent.

I'd say Killer was there when Canary 'negotiated' with the Water Lord. It was more like both Dremmer and Canary fell upon the water treatment plant with brute force, killed the residents, and installed the Water Lord's cult into power.

Ah, hell, why not. Yeah, Canary, we've fought side-by-side, as wel. You get to have +2 Hx, too. Don't think I'd be around when you're working against/with Dremmer, though... I don't really want him knowing where I'm at.

Twilight, 'Killer' is impressed by the sheer ballsniness of what you get up to, and by having (and maintaining) that DANGERGUN! Plus, little Toni likes you, and I trust her gut. Have +3 Hx for being smart and pretty!

Which leaves me with just one slot left... which one of you bastards left me bleeding and did nothing? You may not have even known it was me... Eddie, Pops? Who did I cross back in the days when I worked with Dremmer?

Hmm, yeah that complicates things. Canary wouldn't hire the guy who left Dremmer, it'd be bad blood.

What if Canary was there when Dremmer and Killer split up? We could tie it into the 'Who left me bleeding' question. Canary didn't want to help because he didn't want to piss off Dremmer, but he offered Killer a place to live if somehow escaped and survived. Just a thought though, I don't wanna intrude on your backstory.

No, sounds good to me! So things are complicated, and it's hard for you to leverage me due to my history with Dremmer. But here we are, you've got Hx -3, and I'm working for you some times. It pays my bills, gets me some cards to look after Toni with, and means I've got a floor under my feet.

You're using 2nd Ed playbooks, yeah? The HX questions only affect your sheet now. So you should have -2 with Canary on his sheet (since i left you bleeding), but I would have +1 on mine (since Killer are a neutral party). Hope that makes sense, it's confusing cuz 1st edition worked differently.

I like the complication though, it adds a good dynamic between our characters. I can picture Canary cracking a huge grin when Killer showed up at Atlas Terminal in one piece.

Since you used to work for Dremmer, and I have supremely pissed him off at some point in the past (by revealing something to the public), I wonder why you left him. Something big that happened then, or was it personal business?

Twilight, you've got my highest Hx- maybe I've been keeping an eye out for you recently. Toni always wants to see you, so I'm keenly aware of where you are and what you're up to, as much as I can be. What stat would you like to highlight?

Let's go with hard, I was tempted to go hot or sharp and see killer try and talk things out but a little more violence may help things kick off fast ;p
