13:00, T-7 Hours before the Storm hits
It could be worse.
Never forget that. The storm is rolling in and people are terrified. Bridges are likely to be ripped apart. Valuable items will be blown away. Some folk are likely to die. But it could be worse.
Take the windmill for instance. Granary tower isn't going to fall any time soon no matter what the wind does to it. Means at the very least folk will get flour when the damage passes; get some gruel or maybe some bread in their stomachs. Survivors aren't going to starve more than they already were. Could be worse.
People's generator's could also be breaking down. Folk are relying on people like Canary, Pops and Beaner right now, and the last thing they need is for their stuff to be malfunctioning.
Since maybe before Frog started yelling about the incoming storm, and definitely since Armstrong put the word out over the radio, Lattice has had no end of things keeping her busy; like making sure granary towers aren't going to fall over and people's generators won't explode. Work that stops things getting worse.
Gull's just about leaving right now from the rooftop access to the Department Store that Lattice has turned into her own personal warren. He'll be disappointed with what Lattice told him, but at least he knows he'll be getting some work done.
After Gull leaves, Lattice removes her mask, able to breathe just a little with no one around. She double checks her workspace is going to survive the storm as it rolls in, satisfied that the sealing she applied to the lower floor is going to hold the mist at bay for now. She double checks the small vat of... mushroom? fungus? she has brewing in a vat in what used to be the kitchenware section of the store. It's fermenting. It'll need sugar soon. It'll have to wait though. Gull's project needs work...
Door chimes.
Someone else is probably here to see her, and it could only be urgent given the storm warning. Mask back on; Gull's stuff will have to wait too. Everything has to wait.
But it could always be worse. Everything could always be worse.
And naturally, I'm keeping Gull's problem secret. Mwah haa haa

OOC:
Having aced my roll with the only double six we'll see all game, less stuff's going wrong than it should around the city. Gull's left something with me to look at though. I figure this is around lunch time so that Lattice has at least got some time to get involved in everyone else's problems. And naturally, I'm keeping Gull's problem secret. Mwah haa haa
