1st character help

Nov 1, 2017 9:59 am
Morning people.
I am in the process of creating my 1st D&D character, a lightfoot Halfling rogue with a criminal background. Now, my question is, because my criminal background gives me proficiency in Stealth and Deception, does that mean I get a total of 6 skill proficiencies instead of 4? And how do I mark my expertise down on the character sheet?
Sorry for noob questions.

You are correct, you get 6; rogues are skill monkeys like no other. However, there isn't a way to add expertise like you do proficiencies. What I do is just put the total in parentheses next to the skill in question, like here.
