Is there any interest in this game? I picked up the anniversary edition some time ago and I've wanted to try it out.

EDIT: The game has lost a player and experienced a slow down. I'm looking for some more players interested in the game! We're playing through the Dusk adventure, the first in the Dawn of the Artifacts story.

I've always liked the Shadowrun setting but have never played any of the games. I understand the rules are a bit, shall we say, involved? Would you be willing to allow a noob to join?

I don't know that I'm up to running the game, but i personally have no problem with "noobs" as long as they're reading the book and trying to learn the game.

4E is all I play. My IRL table had invested heavily in 4th Edition, and had worked out houserules that - particularly RE: Hacking/Decking - made it very similar to what 5E turned out to be, so when 5 came out we kind of just realized we were gonna skip it entirely cuz we were 100s of $$$ deep in 4.

Which is to say; I'd be down to play (if that pirates BWG game doesn't pan out), but unfortunately don't have time to run another game.

That's cool! I've only got the core. What are the best supplements for 4th edition?

In order of importance (IMHO); Runners Companion, Arsenal, Augmentation, Street Magic, and Unwired round out the core concepts of the game.

I also like Way of the Adept and get a lot of mileage out of that book. Beyond that it's mostly peripheral material. Such as books that give more options for paracritters, and rigging/vehicles/drones, and even more guns and gear and gadgets that are fun, but not at all necessary.

The only book I would warn against - that I would tell you to never get - is War!, which is a supplement that is single handedly responsible for the worst power-creep in SR4A.

Yikes. Thanks for that list. I'm going to look at those books.

I'm still very interested in trying this game out. Anyone willing to run it?

So, many games I want to run...

I'd love to run a Shadowrun game, a Blades in the Dark game, a Vampire game... unfortunately the two I'm currently running constitute my capacity for GMing I think.

I feel your pain!

I'd love to join a Shadowrun 4E game as a player.

Nice! We just gotta find a GM.

OK, so I am going to give GMing a SR4A game a try. Because I'm brand new to the game, I want to use the Dawn of the Artifacts: Dusk adventure. That'll give me a framework to run from and I won't have to worry about trying to create a Shadowrun feel, because it'll be there for me. Does this sound like something people want to play? I'd be looking for 3 posts a week for this game and only using material from the core rulebook. Because I'm so new to it and the rules are involved, I want to give myself plenty of time to look up anything I feel I need to and to think about options for my responses.

Sounds great Shark_Bone! I'm new to the rules too btw. Been familiar with the universe for a long time and had a book (maybe two) for one of the older systems once, but never had a chance to play. I always liked the mix of fantasy and cyberpunk thing. I recently bought the Shadowrun Returns computer game and am having a blast with that, and the Shadowrun 4 book is just waiting for me to dive into! Looking forward to this!

As mentioned, I'd be up to play. I have a lot of 4E experience, though I'm not familiar with that "adventure path" (which is good, I love surprises :D).

I would like to direct anyone interested in Shadowrun 4E to Chummer 4. A free, community-made character generation software. Whether you're interested in playing in sharks game or not.

Makes experimenting with PCs SOOO much easier. I basically learned 4E through Chummer.

I'd be most interested in playing a (social-skill oriented) Physical Adept, though could also be persuaded to play the Hacker if no one else wants to go for it. I have plenty of experience with the Matrix, and it can be ... a challenge, if you don't. But if the role interests someone else, I'd be happy to just play the role of OOC hacking-advisor too, so they can learn it.

Awesome emsquared! Good to have someone who is a bit more experienced with the system. And thanks for the link. I will definitely check it out.

I am currently reading the book, although it is going a bit slow. Have only read the initial story ("What is Inside the Heart") and a bit of the first chapter so far.

Regarding roles, I am playing with the idea of a troll mage who is also lethal with weapons, but those are just early ideas. As said, I still have some reading to do.

"Rolled" up a couple PCs last night and, man, it's an interesting challenge using core only.

I mean, you can make perfectly good characters, but I forgot exactly how many options which I took for granted come from those core supplements.

Chingo, your shooty Troll mage concept is doable-ish, being a functional magician is pretty demanding on your character creation resources, but depending on exactly how lethal you want to be with weapons (and what kinds of weapons) you may have to sacrifice some magic capabilities.

I edited the first post. I'm looking for some additional players!
