OOC:
We'll play out the effects of the library investigation here.
Nov 5, 2017 5:37 pm
You make your way to the library at the University, finding yourself standing in front of the magnificent edifice. Students are wandering in and out, people are standing out front passing out pamphlets and flyers, and everyone seems to be in a pretty reasonable mood.
Nov 5, 2017 6:44 pm
Uriel reads some pamphlets saddened at the waste of good trees.'

He escorts Marie in, "We seek books of lore, religious based right Marie ?"
Nov 6, 2017 6:46 pm
Marie-Louise eyes glide around the room and an excited glint fills her eyes at the sight of all those books. She looks and points at the central desk, nodding at Uriel, thinking that might be the best place to start. Her thoughts reach both Uriel and Ci They spoke Abyssal and were speaking of something eating souls, I think we should focus on books that discuss evil things first. If you don't know the language, let me try.
Once they reach the central desk ML sits on her knees, making her way through the catalogue trying to find the books they need.

As the three of you begin to pour over the catalog of information, hunting for titles and keywords that could possibly lend a clue, Marie-Louise suddenly sits bolt upright on her stool. The look on her face one of unmitigated joy. There was a two page section in one of the older catalog pieces that had a few titles scribbled out in scratchy letters, each with a trio of red stamped skulls next to them. When she cross-referenced them to a tome of descriptions, she found that two of those titles would likely have the best information they could hope to find: Secrets of the Soul and Flesh, author unknown, flesh-bound tome, Restricted Section; and Abbalonian's Journal 17, author Abbalonian Descargo, hard-bound journal, Third Tier, Records of Historic Deeds and Biographies.

Marie-Louise, you remember visiting the library with your father a few times before the unpleasantness. Getting into the Restricted Section usually requires permissions from someone, though you aren't 100% sure how you'd get them right now.
Nov 6, 2017 6:59 pm
Uriel if informed will try and find out how to get access to the restricted section.
Nov 6, 2017 7:33 pm
When presented the information, Ci cocks his head at the mention of the restriction. He volunteers to comb for the more obtain text, the journal. "Geh. I am willing to bet it's some old meadow muffin's approval we seek to gain access to the flesh... uh book. I'll fetch the Abe guy's book. Just stay here and be the good fellow that you are. See you in five." He winces at some of the difficult words but he thinks he got the message across. He tries to give ML a pat in the head but settles at giving one of her braids a light brush before jouncing towards the aisles.
Nov 6, 2017 9:42 pm
Marie-Louise explains her findings in the catalogue and nods as Uriel and Ci move away, a little startled by his touch, but more captivated by how he looks up close. Once they're off she relaxes in her seat, taking out Antoinette. Yes, that book sounds very interesting. I hope we get a chance to see it. Of course I will tell them about what happened and why it's so important to read that book. I'm glad it all went this easily, it could've been very hard. She sighs and lets her eyes glide over the books again, remembering times she visited the library with her father.
Nov 6, 2017 9:44 pm
Ci, you have no problem finding Abbalonian's Journal 17. It's a small journal, only a hundred pages or so. Flipping inside, the writing is cramped and spindly.

Uriel, you aren't sure of much beyond needing to speak with the Archivist on duty to see what you would need to do.
Nov 7, 2017 5:15 am
Ci claps the tiny book shut and holds it like a football, clipping it by his armpit. He gives his surroundings a cursory look before returning to their table.
Nov 7, 2017 12:24 pm
Marie-Louise perks up when she sees Ci walk back, one of her hands moving forward, eyes intent on his feathers, but quickly pulls her hand back, remembering it's considered rude. Her eyes move to the journal and she now reaches for it with both of her hands, eyes big in anticipation.
Nov 7, 2017 2:01 pm
Uriel moves to speak to the archivist.

Asking about how one gains access to the restricted section.
Nov 7, 2017 3:49 pm
The archivist peers over her glasses at Uriel.

Well, that would depend - uhm - sir. Which book are you trying to access, for what purpose, for how long. Et cetera, et cetera.
Nov 7, 2017 3:59 pm
"It wouldn't need to be taken out, just looking into something for the lanterns. Uriel gives the name of the book.
Nov 8, 2017 8:41 pm
The archivist looks back at you, a touch of confusion in her eyes. For the lanterns? What do you mean? A moment passes and the title of the book registers with her. Now what in the name of the Gods would you be wantin' with that! Not precisely a light read. You'll need to get permission from a professor to even view that book! she said, exasperation and a touch of fear in her voice.
Nov 8, 2017 9:16 pm
Good lady, please keep it down this is a matter of investigation. Please dont make a scene. If Cthalet is to be stopped you must act.

Of course it's a matter of investigation you daft lunk! This is the University Library, after all. We exist to serve investigations. But the rules must be adhered to. If this "Cthalet" character is not a professor or something which is studied here, I simply cannot just give access to all manner of restricted works! This is MY library, I shall make whatever scene is necessary to keep the sanctity and order that these halls have sought to preserve!
Nov 9, 2017 9:33 pm
The second Marie-Louise has the book in her hand nothing else is important. The feel of the cover in her hands, the smell of the paper, the soft creaking sound of the binding when she opens it and then the texture of the paper on her fingertips. She takes it all in, as she always does when reading a book. Sitting back in the chair she raises her knees, heels to her ass, letting the journal rest against her thighs as she flips through the pages, scanning the writing for words popping out to her like "evil", "demon" or, with any luck "C'thalet", but soon enough she's reading full paragraphs, captivated by the story.
OOC:
I'd say she won't even notice if Uriel returns or anyone talking to her unless she's touched.
Nov 9, 2017 11:21 pm
"I see, so is it normal to insult people in your library ? I will speak with a proffesor then."

Uriel makes his way back.

"They refuse letting us see the restricted books unless we have a proffesor to insult ouch for us."
Nov 10, 2017 8:02 pm
As Marie-Louise reads through the journal of one Abbalonian Descargo, she finds it lacking in mentions of evil or demons or C'thalet for much of the manuscript. However, about a third of the way through the document, the handwriting changes. What was once a flowing delicate script suddenly took on a different character. The words were largely still in common, with a smattering of Draconic in the margins. But now, there were definite hesitation points where the ink made large splotches, obscuring some of the work. If it weren't for the fact that the tone reads almost exactly the same, you would think it was a different author.

That's when she notices a bit of ink along the binding. She grabs a reflecting mirror and redirects the light from one of the table lamps down onto the page. Etched in tiny lines right where the seam meets is a simple Abyssal invection: Fhaagathra! Phl'gw'nathi crwlagrah C'thalet Pwgra nghsossotha!
[ +- ] Abyssal
The same thing the black hooded man had been yelling in the square.

Deeper in the book, she starts to see small sketches of runes. Some Abyssal in nature, others languages she doesn't know. The bits and pieces she can make out, it seems to be some sort of recipe spread out through journalling entries. On the second to last page is a single entry, dated some fourteen hundred years ago. The following entry is in a mix of abyssal and common. On the last page is a note written in a totally different hand, dated about six hundred years ago. At a glance it appears to be a translation.

Today I set upon my destiny. No more wishing and wanting, the day of realization is here. I am the herald of the chaos to come. Madness is my pawn and the lands shall be my board. I have spent these many months cajoling and pleading with that grandest of demons, that lord of the unruly. His promises of power have been good. I feel the surge of energy deep in my soul, opening my minds. I commit now to the last wish of my great patron, He Who Shall Rule The Kingdoms. C'thalet the Mad King. I finally have the items to summon him and to pledge to him for this taste of power. It shall be glorious. The Mage Lords will rue the day they shunned me. The name Abbalonian Descargo will echo throughout time immemorial!

That is the last writing in the book. You recall from the catalog that there was no Journal 18 listed.
Nov 10, 2017 11:05 pm
Reading through the last bit of the journal, before the translated note, Marie-Louise cringes, like she hears an unpleasant sound. She quickly takes out a sheet of parchment and her inkbottle and pen. She writes, in her flowy curly handwriting, a translation of the text, slightly different from the one in the book:

Today I set upon my destiny. No more wishing and wanting, the day of realization is here. I am the herald of the chaos to come. Madness is my pawn and the lands shall be my board. I have spent these many months cajoling and pleading with that grandest of demons, that lord of the unruly. His promises of power have been good. I feel the surge of energy deep in my soul, opening my minds. I commit now to the last wish of my great patron, He Who Shall Rule The Lands. C'thalet the Lord of Insanity. I finally have the items to summon him and to pledge to him for this taste of power. It shall be glorious. The Mage Lords will rue the day they shunned me. The name Abbalonian Descargo will echo throughout time immemorial!

With a small nod she quickly adds

Mortal scum! Heed now the words of the immortal C'thalet! Your time has come and you will all perish before the mighty darkness!
Souls feeding his gluttony???

She looks at Ci and Uriel, who she just noticed is back. I don't understand everything that's in this book, there are words, letters in here I can't read. But they seem to be parts of a recipe of some sort, I think to make something to set C'thalet free, as if says here in this last entry. They got the translation wrong at some points, but I got it. Also here he says the same thing as the man in the square yelled. Where is the other book Uriel?
Nov 11, 2017 2:30 am
They won't allow us to have it. Unless a professor gives us permission to acess it.
Nov 11, 2017 2:32 pm
With his presumptions somewhat confirmed, Ci asks "Does anybody know a professor? Where do they usually gather? Wanna ask around the corridors?"

He spies ML's piece and wonders if there were any dates.

"Hmm... Why would this Cargo guy placate demons? Maybe we could also pry on his relationship with the Mage Lords."
Nov 11, 2017 3:07 pm
Marie-Louise's Eyes grew very large at Uriel's words, a mix of sadness and disappointment in them, her bottom lip sticking out in a big pout. She focusses her thoughts just on Uriel. But... You know we need that book, why can't you give it to me? I thought I could trust you... She let's her head fall for a second or two before focussing on both Uriel and Ci again. Her face has transformed into a serious and determined one. So we need to find a professor who will help us. One that knows about C'thalet. A professor from the department of religion, or magic, someone specialised in rituals perhaps. "Secrets of the soul and flesh" sounds like someone specialised in history won't do. I think we can find a list of professors in the great hall. Shall we go?
Nov 13, 2017 1:29 pm
Uriel's own lower lips quivers, I will go do it. Sorry Marie. Uriel moves off to find a professor obviously pained he let his little friend down.
Nov 13, 2017 6:12 pm
"Maybe a cursory look at a directory or a tour around the premises should give us some clue on who to brownnose. Let me return the journal for a bit and we could a have a stroll."

Before Uriel could walk away Marie-Louise send her stern voice into his head. Don't be ridiculous, we go togheter. I can tell the professor much more details than you. Please carry me to the great hall She reaches towards Uriel, but then her eyes shift to Ci and she drops her arms. You should come with us to the great hall, we will find what we are looking for there. Perhaps you can carry me this time? Marie thinks hopeful, wishing to be even closer to Ci so she could feel the texture of his feathers and take a closer look at his beak.
Nov 13, 2017 11:25 pm
The avian scrunches his brows for a bit before realizing his folly. "Oh! You meant a hall, as in a specific place, and not a general nudge for us to go towards large rooms." He then considers the appeal and answers back in kind with "I see no problem with that. I have to ask though. Is it fine for you if I carry you in my arms? I don't believe my back nor my shoulders a good perch, considering."
Nov 14, 2017 3:56 pm
Uriel heads back and scoops Marie up to carry her to the great hall.
Nov 14, 2017 5:22 pm
Marie-Louise practically screams is Uriel's head. GIVE ME TO THE BIRDMAN! I WANT HIM TO CARRY ME! She tries to get away from Uriel, reaching for Ci, trying to jump in his arms.

Ci is taken aback by the display. Surprised and bewildered, he puts his arms out to try and catch Marie.
Nov 14, 2017 7:15 pm
Marie-Louise lands in Ci's arms, a slight bit lighter than she looks. With Marie-Louise being carried by who she wanted this time, you three head out of the library and across the majestically landscaped campus. It takes you a good fifteen minutes to navigate through the people and decorative bushes. Eventually, you make your way into the Great Hall, and seek out the Registrar's office. Once there, you find that there is no directory of professors as such, at least not that is made publicly available. However, there is a course catalog available to peruse.
Nov 14, 2017 8:26 pm
During the walk towards the great hall Marie-Louise softly strokes Ci's feathers, softly laying her head against his shoulder, feeling the feathers on his neck tickle her nose. She giggles, turning her head, fingers still investigating the smooth feathers.

When they reach the registration office she, points towards the catalogue, letting Ci take her over to it. She picks it up and smiles at Ci Can you put me down please? I want to look at this for a while.
Once she's on the floor she puts the catalogue down and lays in front of it, letting one finger glide over the pages, looking for information about courses given at the religion department and the magic department, but quickly scanning every page, hoping to spot something about rituals.

Nov 15, 2017 2:09 pm
Marie-Louise pours over the catalogue, noting that there are a TON of classes offered here. Many of them seem to be so niche, there couldn't be more than two or three students in the whole of Feyshear that would actually consider taking them! That said, there are a few that seem to jump off the page at her as she glances through:

Ancient Religions and Their Customs - Hansje Goodwe
A Brief History of Demonology - Ellias Cogsteam
Introduction to Ritualistic Magicks - Galadreel Snowlotus
Your Spellbook and You, Custom Spellcrafting - Stephen Stormborne
The Deepest Hells, Denizens and Destitutes - Gal'nath Glimmerskin
Nov 15, 2017 8:59 pm
With every page she reads Marie-Louise's eyes grow bigger, sparkling brightly as her finger presses harder onto the pages. Her mind is racing, thinking about herself roaming these grounds, a student in some obscure study. She growls internally at the low chuckle in the back of her head, knowing Perse has other plans for her. She focusses on the memory of her father, having her on his shoulders, talking about how he's saving for her study, wanting nothing but the best for his bright minded little girl.

Marie-Louise sighs heavily, a single tear rolling over her cheek, angrily wiping it away with her hand before grabbing Antoinette, scowling at the headless body and hissing between her teeth. Stop it! I can do it if I want to! I can do both at the same time!
She pushes the doll back in her pocket, and looks back up at Uriel and Ci, pointing out the different names to them as she thinkspeaks. There are interesting names in here. I think we should try to find Galadreel Snowlotus, professor of Introduction to Ritualistic Magicks. If we can't find him we look into to the next best option. She quickly scribbles the names and departments on the price of parchment she used for the information on C'thalet so far.
Nov 15, 2017 9:12 pm
"Perhaps surprises is what I should expect from this one" he thinks to himself. "Gladly. Lead the way dear. I grow weary that they might strike again." The avian is visibly disturbed by the clues that they have found. He is unfamiliar with the variety of magic men wield and the is always anxiety in uncertainty.

You make your way across campus, finally finding the Hall of Enlightenment, home of all religious studies at the university. The building was modeled after a large cathedral. Inside where numerous classrooms and offices. As you checked the directories, you saw that Galadreel has an office in the basement. Heading down, you manage to find the place with no issue. Her door stands open and you see the elven woman sitting behind a cluttered desk picking up various bones and herbs and other materials, looking them over before making small notations.
Nov 19, 2017 10:43 pm
When they reach the office Marie-Louise puts on what she thinks is her most innocent smile and starts to enter, thinking to the woman in her sweetest voice. Excuse me, madame, I'm very sorry if we disturb you in your work, but I was wondering if I could ask you some questions? We are searching for some information about something, or someone, that caused a series of attacks throughout the city. There have been people hurt and... Well we think you might have some answers that could help us help the Green Legion stop these attacks. We've been to the library already, that's wat lead us here. The book I read seemed to have information on performing a ritual, so we came to see you to find some answers.
While thinkspeaking Marie keeps her smile on her face, slowly moving a few steps inside the office.
Nov 20, 2017 2:44 pm
Uriel remains a respectful distance from the professor letting Marie think talk.
Nov 20, 2017 3:00 pm
Galadreel sits bolt upright when you speak into her mind. She turns to look at you, a smile creeping over her face as you work through your speech.

Please, please come in! I won't pretend to know what twist of the arcane gives you that delightful ability, but it is truly wonderful! Now, you mentioned something about a ritual? Come, sit sit. What have you found?
Nov 20, 2017 4:28 pm
Ci enters the room and gives a polite nod. He points to Marie and mouths 'I am with her' before stepping aside and leaning by the doorjamb.
Nov 21, 2017 7:47 pm
Marie-Louise's smile grows even bigger and with a small skip she walks up to the woman and jumps on her lap, sitting sideways so she can still look at her. the ritual was meant to summon C'thalet. Look... She takes out the parchment on which she wrote the information from the book. I found this in Abbalonian Descargo's journal, part 17. But I couldn't read everything about the ritual, there were words in a language I don't understand, I don't like that. But we need as much information about C'thalet as possible! Look at this, this was what that man I.... That man that attacked said. So we know we're looking for anything and everything related to C'thalet so we can find out how to fight this. She smiles broadly at the woman
Nov 21, 2017 8:00 pm
At first, when Marie-Louise leaps onto Galadreel's lap, she smiles and holds her arm open to catch the child's back. When you start speaking, however, her face goes a little funny. Even stranger when you mention Descargo's journal.

Why would you even pick his - C'thalet - this ritual is - oh my. she says, her voice full of concern. How exactly are you planning on fighting? Shouldn't you be at home still with your parents? This certainly describes ritualistic magic, but extremely dark rituals. Look here, it mentions needing to collect several materials that are rooted in pure evil. This statement - hmm. she seems to be fighting between the ritual magic in front of her and her confusion that a little girl is the one bringing her this information. She looks up at Uriel and Ci.

Were you two responsible for showing her that awful book? What were you thinking! I keep telling them that Descargo's works deserve to be in the restricted section for damn good reason. He was a vile wretch of a man!

She turns back to Marie-Louise. I'm afraid I won't be teaching you much about this spell. It is nefarious and rooted in pure evil. My class is about how to properly conduct rituals, for pleasant things, like detecting magic or speaking languages. I've heard the name C'thalet in my studies, but only ever as a mention with some horror. It's never been a positive thing, and if it needs this kind of magic to herald into the world, I'd prefer it stay wherever it is!
Nov 21, 2017 8:58 pm
Marie-Louise's smile disappears from her face, a deep frown replacing it. Excuse me madame! I didn't ask you about this ritual! I want to know about C'thalet. I've seen and done dark things mademoiselle, don't underestimate me! If you cannot help us with information, perhaps you could give us access to the other book we need; Secrets of the Soul and Flesh, in the restricted section. We will find our answers there. If you are not able to grant us access, at least give us directions to someone who can. We are trying to SAVE people FROM C'thalet! I believe he HAS been summoned and or they are planning to do it. Now, will you help us or are you wasting our time, and potentially lives of people in this city?
Nov 22, 2017 7:14 am
Ci is bewildered by the accusation and he tries to utter a retort and maybe weave a ruse but notices that the elf's attention is back at the child. He gives pause and starts an ardent examination of the thaumaturges' gazes.
OOC:
It would be cool to know their eye colors. Ancillary, but cool.
Nov 22, 2017 1:29 pm
Marie is much better at books then I am Mam, We have been tasked to help out and stop murderers and this book may hold the information we need. I assure you Marie is far wiser then her young years make her appear.
Nov 22, 2017 5:23 pm
Galadreel's eyes widen just a bit at the change in Marie-Louise's tone. Well, I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for more deaths. I just - C'thalet is an ancient being, from everything I've been able to ever find out. Not like "around during the Mage Lords" ancient. More like, "around at the formation of the world" ancient. I can give you a slip to get the book for a few hours. Just - please don't let anything bad happen to it. There's no forgiving destruction of a book as old as that one. she says, sliding a sheet of parchment out of her desk drawer and inking a quick note.
Nov 22, 2017 10:25 pm
At the mention of destruction of a book Marie-Louise rolled her eyes. She reaches over and pats Galadreel on her cheek before slipping of her lap. She grabs Antoinette and nods. Yes, you are right, being sweet was not working at all... She puts her doll away again and turns, smiling at Ci and Uriel. Looks like we can go back to the library, who wants to carry me?
Nov 23, 2017 5:42 pm
Ci is relieved that they got what they came for. He also finds the tote situation adorable. He feels warm and fuzzy inside for a moment, until he catches on that there is some sort of god behind this cult after all.
Nov 26, 2017 4:33 pm
Galadreel looks slightly taken aback as the little girl on her lap pats her on the face.

I - you are a very strange little girl. I don't know where, why, or how you came to do these 'dark things' you spoke about. It saddens me that so much dark could have happened in your life to drive you to this kind of research. If ever you wanted to learn more about ritual magic, proper casting of rituals, I'd be happy to take you as a student. I think that you'd make a fabulous student with your yearning to learn more. Please, just stay safe, whatever you do? she says, tears shimmering along the bottom of her eyes.
Nov 26, 2017 7:27 pm
Marie-Louise smiles at Galadreel and nods. I will keep that in mind, don't be surprised when I come find you. Don't worry, we will be safe. Perse will help me too. And there are two others too. With that she picks up the note and walks over to Uriel, letting him lift her. Let's go! she thinks to him in a cheerful voice.
Nov 28, 2017 12:10 am
Ci gives his all to give an assuring 'yes' but all that comes out is a nod as he exits the room. With his hopes and fears reaffirmed, Ci accompanies the odd couple in their quest to find the book.
Nov 28, 2017 3:13 am
The three of you make your way back across campus, now somewhat less crowded as it seems many students have found their way into classrooms. When you walk back into the library, you see the same archivist standing behind the desk, fawning over her stacks of books.
Nov 28, 2017 2:35 pm
Uriel places Marie before the Archivist.
Nov 28, 2017 8:36 pm
Marie-Louise looks at the archivist, sitting on the small patch of clear desk where Uriel put her. Madame! We would like to take a look at a tome in the restricted section; Secrets of the Soul and Flesh. Professor Galadreel has given us permission. Would you be so kind to grant us access? She holds out the note to the archivist, her eyes sparkle proud and serious, no smile showing for this woman.
Nov 30, 2017 4:16 am
The archivist looks like she's going to have an aneurysm when you sit down on the desk.

Young lady! You will not place your buttocks on my desk! Let me see that letter! she says sharply, taking the note from you, her eyes quickly flickering over it. Daft woman, Galadreel. She'll give a note out for any damn fool with a... Nevermind. You've got your permissions. Follow me, we'll go to the Restricted Section so you can do your reading. Insolent whelps. she says, grumbling the last bit under her breath. Melissa, if you could kindly watch the counter while I accompany this lot, I'd appreciate it. she says to a half-elf woman standing by a rolling cart full of books.

The elder woman moves out from behind the counter, hefting a ring full of keys. Well, let's go then.
Nov 30, 2017 5:19 am
Ci leans towards Uriel and whispers "Old, check. Meadow muffin, check. I kinda expected for her to be a dude though."
Nov 30, 2017 2:02 pm
Uriel shakes his head sadly and picks up Marie to set her back on the floor where they can head to read this book.
Dec 1, 2017 12:06 am
Marie-Louise happily follows the woman, thinking to her. How much of the books here did you actually read? And how much of the books in the restricted section? I think I would spend hours there if I could! There must be so much interesting stuff down there! Now I need to find some information, so I can't just read everything, but I might come back soon, I'm starting to run out of interesting books at home...
Dec 4, 2017 2:57 pm
As she walks away, you see the woman fiddle with a ring on her finger. Marie-Louise, she doesn't seem to react at all to anything you've said into her mind since you left the desk.

You make your way to the heavy gates near the back of the library. She fishes a large key out of her robes and fits it to the lock. Soft arcane words pass over her lips as her other hand waves over the door. You hear a multitude of locks give way and the door swings open silently. You all pass through the gates and down the large marble spiral stairs, deep into the earth.

It takes you nearly five minutes to walk all the way down to another heavily gated area. Another key and another mystic word and you proceed into a space dimly lit by a series of floating balls in the sky. She leads you down the rows and rows of books, until she finds the shelf she's looking for. Scanning the shelf, she exclaims softly. Ah, here we are! Her hand waves and the book floats out of the shelf, and into her hands. Over to the table over there you lot. Here's your book, I'll be right over there if you need anything. Please return the tome to me when you are finished and I will re-shelve it.
Dec 4, 2017 11:07 pm
At first Marie-Louise is very annoyed her questions aren't answered, but the further they move down, the more excited she gets. When they're pointed to the table she jumps onto a seat and reaches towards the time with both hands, indicating she is the one to have it. Once it's in her hands she lets her fingers run over the cover, eyes sparkling with wonder. She opens the book and starts reading, only skipping parts that she is really sure are not interesting (which, in this tome, can't be that much...). She is completely absorbed by the book, for her time stands still and the others could be anywhere, talking or not, and she won't notice them.
OOC:
now let's hope it's written in one of the 6 languages she speaks or this will get very weird very quickly;-)

Uriel tries to see if he can understand the tome reading over Marie to himself.

Marie-Louise, as you crack the book open and read the first words, inside your mind a piercing scream rips through your skull, causing an immense amount of pain, akin to fork tines scratching across a plate, amplified hundreds of times. DC15 CON save or take 2 psychic damage.

After the shriek subsides, you can easily see that the book is written in Infernal.

Most of the document details horrific practices of savage races from before the Mage Wars. The biggest interesting part that you can find is this:
[ +- ] Infernal

When starting with reading a small shriek escapes her lips as she drops it, grabbing her head. She takes a few slow breaths to calm down.

When she reads the piece about the summoning of the great ones she retrieves her parchment, pen and ink, copying the info, in infernal. When she finishes the book she slams it closed, taking Antoinette from her pocket.

I don't know Antoinette! Are we helping him? She sighs, not seeming all to happy with what she read. She gets up from the chair and walks the tome back to the woman, not thinking or saying a word to her.

The avian jerks a step forward at the sound of distress but stops because the little lady seemed to have a handle on things. He is mildly disturbed when he heard the word 'him' but pays it no mind as she follows the girl to the lady.

The woman takes the tome from you and replaces it on the shelf.

I hope you found something useful. Now, up the stairs if you please. she says, ushering you all back up the stairs. Your group heads up with the woman behind you. Another five minutes on the stairs, winding around and around, and you find yourselves back in the main body of the library, now much emptier than it was almost two hours ago when you entered!

As you make your way towards the exits, you see a familiar face walking into the building. Vlur! However, his previous compatriot, the goliath Shannout, is nowhere to be seen.

Hello! Were you able to find anything? I have a group of scholars who are willing to show us some magic created by this C'thalet fellow.
They said to meet them at Sturnk Hall. Their Professor's name is Maladrin. We are to meet them at fourteen bells

He walks up to them eager to see what they have found.

The feathered man stumbles up quite dissuaded by the light and the minuteness of the place they came from. Upon reaching the great hall, his spirits goes up and down. First from the familiar face that greets them, and lastly, from the pit in his stomach that forms because he could not rack an answer. "This does not bode well." he thinks to himself.

"Hail! Uh- We have learned that the one who leads the pack is named Abe Looney The Cargo... or something to that effect. He has a grudge against the Mage Lords, and he has begged a demon to help him in his vengeance. We have reason to believe the cult is collecting ingredients. What the means is still a mystery. The little lady did most of the pulling in our excursion. Perhaps she should meet these scholars you speak of?"

Marie-Louise shakes her head at Ci, then looks at Vlur and the obvious lack of his wrestling friend. She frowns Where is your friend? Nevermind, just stand over here so I can speak to all of you at once She points towards Ci and Uriel and turns so she can look at the three of them togheter. When Vlur has entered her view she starts thinkspeaking to the three of them. When we first got here we read in the journal of Abbalonian Descargo. He described a ritual that I think is meant to summon C'thalet. With a little detour to professor Galadreel we also found a book telling us C'thalet is a Great One, who, to be summoned, wants souls taken in chaos. And that confused me, because before we started to attack, when they killed that first man, there was no chaos. And noble souls are preferred by Drak'ana. So they were feeding the wrong Great One. I don't know what to think of all of this. Let's go visit that professor Maladrin tomorrow, perhaps they can make things clearer and at least getting to see them some magic linked to C'thalet could help us understand the threat better. Just when she stops talking you hear a loud grumble coming from her stomach. She pouts, looking towards the door before turning back to the others. I want to go home, I'm hungry and it's late. I think you all should come and sleep at my home so we can talk about what to do next in the morning. Lurchette doesn't mind, she keeps telling me I should make friends. She is a pretty decent cook and I think she is smart too. Will you come with me?

Of course Marie, I will accompany you.

He looks quizzically as the girl shakes her head. He ponders for a bit before the lecture fills him in. "Grub and quarters sound great. Thank you, dear." he says as he nods to the offer.

Marie-Louise leads you all towards the adamantine rail station north campus. In short order, you manage to get onboard with no hassle and are shown seats in the cramped quarters of free passage. About an hour and a half later, you debark the train south of the Greenfall Woods. Marie-Louise takes the lead again and fifteen minutes later, you all find yourselves looking up at the edifice of an old home, clearly part of the lesser nobility.
OOC:
Marie-Louise can provide more description of the home. :)

You stand in front of a low wrought iron gate, opening up to a small path of grey stones leading through an overgrown front yard, up to a white stone building, a dark door with a heavy metal knocker in the middle, big bay windows on both sides besides it. On the upper two levels a small tower protrudes from the right corner, the sun glinting of the blade of a small guillotine standing on a windowsill.

Marie-Louise opens the gate, walking up the path, looking for her key in her front pocket, but not really trying to find it because she expects Lurchette to open the front door in about 3... 2.... 1....
