Expectations and Posting

Dec 1, 2017 2:50 pm
1. Please try and post once per weekday. Posting over the weekend optional. If in doubt, define "day" as "between each of the GM's posts".
2. If you're going to be away for any length of time (more than a day) then let us know. I'll throw up an absence thread, and you can use the Discord. If you're letting everyone know, there's no pressure.
3. Narrate details into the world as you please if you think they make sense, and things have yet to be determined. If I'm unsure whether I want something to be true, I'll call for a roll such as a -wise test, or as Assess (Perception) test to notice a detail.
4. No rolling unless and until I call for a test. I'll adjudicate FoRKs and help. Unless a FoRK has special rules (Astrology) or you are being helped by someone who it's blindingly obvious can help you, wait until I've allowed them before you roll. A simple "yes" on Discord will often be enough. If you're pretty sure a test is coming, feel free to "prepare" your ForKs.
5. If, at any point, you decide this game is not for you, feel free to let the group know and drop out of the game. This is completely OK. If I ever feel that you might not be a good fit for the game and group, I'll contact you to discuss it.
6. If anyone is not in compliance with these expectations, I'll contact them via PM in an attempt to help that player resolve any issues preventing their compliance. If I get no response or non-compliance continues, the player will receive a warning. If continued non-compliance disrupts the game for more than two weeks, the player will be removed from the game.
7. Don't Take The Piss. If you think it's not allowed, it's probably not allowed. Keep disagreements IC.
8. Try to use third person present tense for your posts. Aim to use appropriate formatting, paragraphs, and grammar.
9. If you are doing something that you want to have an effect, include an Intent. Remember that Intents are sacrosanct if there's a roll, so be clear. If you want to convince someone of something, include that in an Intent, no matter how "obvious" you think your description was.
10. If two PCs disagree, and no-one auto-backs down (which will usually be the case) then we'll use mechanics to deal with that.

These are not final. Feel free to discuss them with me, and the group in general.

Why sits at their desk typing up rules. "Dammit" they mutter. "I'm not sure if I've made myself clear here."

"There's a typo there
" says Jo, Why's housemate. "Maybe tidy it up a bit, you went straight from number 3 to number 5."

Why shrugs, and continues typing, but as soon as Jo turns their back, Why makes the corrections. Why stretches, and hits the post button. Instantly they regret it. "Am I sure I meant present tense? Don't I always revert to the past tense when GMing?" They muse. "Ah well, it's done now."
OOC:
Intending to give a useable example of what a post might look like, and show how an intent might seem obvious, but should be posted anyway.

Would you like us to use bold text for all speech?
In this case, what is the use for italics?
OOC:
Also, should this whole post have been out of character?
While I'm testing things out, here's a roll.

Can I make things both bold and italic?

Does an edit after a roll change the results? Yes, and nope.
Good to know.

This reminded me. Please write down your roll so that it's easy to see what's happening. An example follows:

Rolls

Orienteering: B3 plus Cartography FoRK 1D +Help from A and B (2D) +1Dadv from Map +1D Persona vs Ob5 - (8d6)

(22255614) = 27
